We had one of the greatest teams in NFL history from 1992-1995.

Since, not so great. What changed? And what’s been the constant since?

The same constant the last 10 years when we objectively speaking, haven't been successful

My point is not to make excuses for the Jones, just pointing out that arbitrarily drawing a line at 1996 does what?

There’s always positives. And negatives. IMO Nothing wrong with saying both as long as they’re factual.

I agree…..but inconvenient facts are starting to come under this new “disinformation” thingy…..not good

Drawing a line since 1996 is to define our era since last championship.

Ive seen the same type of comparisons for other championship historied franchises or schools. What have you done since your last championship .

The Cowboys were arguably one of the greatest franchises for about 35 years. Since our last championship , not so much . It’s definitely a line which we can draw and make comparisons .

Great follow up and not BS. I actually enjoy your normal posts. Own it. Have a great day Jazz!
That’s a troll like response. And you’re taking the high road in a classy manner. Homers trolling critical threads or posters are the worst kind of fans . If he begins personal insults , report. The mods will take action.

i love that the cut off is always right after we won a SB. So what is it if we go back a couple more years?
I think that's my only real peeve with stuff like this.
It's usually so dishonest.

But in this case, at least 25 is a nice round number and not something arbitrary like 22 years.

But make it 30 years (or even 15 years) and it would look a lot different.

I don't do personal insults. Get over yourself. You have many troll like posts yourself. Just like this one you responded to.
Hater trolling posters are actually the worst kind. And this place is filled with them.

Good , I’m glad to hear you have never insulted another fan in this forum.

It’s difficult to decipher which is worst. The whiners or the whiners whining over the whiners.

I wonder how many playoff appearances each franchise has had in the last 25 years.

Just curious, and i assume someone here has that data.

Would going back only 20 years make you feel better? And would going back 27 years and making the stat a little better change the pathetic state of the franchise for the last quarter century?

This isn't a small sample. It's 26 years without even reaching the conference title game, something that happened over half the time up through the Jimmy Johnson years. Trying to spin it in any way is idiocy.

There was a thread about it, I think started yesterday or the day before.

It's the cut-off because it's the last time we won an SB or even been to an NFC Championship game.
It's also the point where Jerry had to start re-building a team himself within the salary cap/free agent constraints.
You know the constraints we currently have to deal with and will for the foreseeable future, the ones Jerry and his son can't seem to manage.

Then why stick around? When one thinks negative all the time from results they do not like. Make a change in your life.

If you spouse cheats on you for the past 26 years of your marriage, and you know about it, and after all that one still whines, would it not be better to get a divorce?

Because I was a Cowboys fan before the Jones family came on board. The Dallas Cowboys are not the Jones family as much as they want to believe it. And as a lifelong fan I have every right to complain about the lackluster results for almost 3 decades just like you have the right to be an external optimist. I will continue to crap on the Jones family because they have ruined a once great franchise. You want to continue to waive pom poms for horrendous results than have it.

I wonder what boards would have been like if the internet was up in Tom Landry's first 12 years. Until he won a SB.
Then what would they been like in the 80's, when things went South.
12 years << 26 years and counting.
And in those 12 years we regularly went to the playoffs and actually won some games!!!
It's been 15 years since we managed to get to the play-offs in consecutive years.

They may be getting better at it, though slowly. Very slowly.
Who are the biggest cap eaters?
Dak, Zeke, DLaw, Martin, Tyron?

Many think Zeke will be gone after this year. I think it depends on what type of year he has.
Dak we will have 3 more years. I think the same for Dlaw now also, or at least 2 years.
Not sure about Martin, and Tyron's career is nearing an end.

So it depends on what other huge contracts are given out. Not sure who is up for the next big contract come 2023.
Need to see a list of FA's yet.

If we win the SB this season, we can jump up bout 8 spots. :D
Good news is I believe we are 2nd all time with 33 or 34 appearances without looking it up.

It’s really incredible that as poor as this era has been we still rank up there all time . It’s quite a testimony to how great our previous era was.

It’s how we can have so many old diehards who bash this era . And the one constant throughout.

Our franchise and base of fans would look much different if our previous era looked much like this one .
