But then what? Do they have a JAG to replace the JAG?
Ferguson has potential, there are guys out there who can play a role. Hell I think they should try Fehoko and Brown there if they want ball production. Dalton doesn't block well

How quickly does Jerry panic sign him to the biggest TE contract in NFL history?
Yeah, word on the street is Jerry tends to panic and sign players to overpaid contracts w/out much production. That's just the word though.

Fine him. The guy can't block and they have already drafted his replacement for 2023. He is a not a longterm player that you want to pay big bucks to. If he doesn't want to play for ten million, screw him and let him sit out. I'd fine him the max and give the rookie as many reps as possible. I do everything possible to make Schultz pay for sitting out to send a message to others that they have learned.
How, exactly, do you fine somebody for skipping something that's voluntary?

Get draft a solid draft pick for him.

What's he frustrated about? Had his first good season and got targets with an intermediate route QB.

I will give him due respect in playing through injuries. But overall, he's a Garrett guy. Personal stats, nice guy but isn't a dawg that you win championships with.

More Parsons, Diggs, Lamb please.

His mom thinks he's better than he is. He's mediocre at best. The rookies can do a TE job.

Top 5 and better in most categories?
Sweet.
Yes. Just get open and push off like Irvin and Novacek. Easy stuff. Ask anyone like Barkley. Like basketball. Shielding and posting up. Not too hard for a good athlete.

I like Schultz but in my opinion he has peaked. If the Cowboys can trade him for a relatively high pick they should do it. I know there's risk in going with a rookie in Jake Ferguson, but we saw good things from Sean McKeon last preseason before he hurt his ankle and Jeremy Sprinkle can fill a blocking role as Ferguson develops.

The best case scenario is a long term deal for Schultz at the right money. If he demands too much let him go. I don't think he's a JAG, he's a lot better than that, but he is not elite. Jay Novacek and Jason Witten this guy is not.

If he is so easily replaceable why was he having a season so much better than everyone else? He was 3rd in receptions (to Kelce and Andrews), 4th in yards (to Andrews, Kelce, and Kittle) and he caught over 70% of targets averaging over 10 yards a catch (aka a first down with every catch). The only knock on him is blocking and nobody really cares about whether your TE can block that much. It is nice and it is great if he can but the highest paid TEs are great pass catchers. Yes Kittle can do both but in general your best blocking TEs are making 5m per year (such as Boyle for the Ravens) and your best receiving TEs like Kelce and Andrews are making over 14m. That is just how it is.

If we want to move on as a franchise we need to cut bait with guys like this when they hit FA. Learn from Bill and how the Pats have been successful over the last decade...well I guess it helps that Bill can coach a can of tuna to become dolphins, but the philosophy makes sense for us
