Are some of you mad at how we are building the team through the draft?

And you sound like you think the way you're told to think.

Jerry say's the Cowboys are great. So you think the Cowboys are great.

Jerry say's the Cowboys are contenders. So you think the Cowboys are contenders.

Jerry gives someone a fat contract. So you think they're tops in the NFL at their position.

The wool is over your eyes and you love it that way.
Find a quote where I have ever said towards Jerry what you falsely are accusing me of?

You won't, because I've never done it. I judge according to my past experience and what I see. Too bad you can't handle that. Now get off the internet and go cry in public at a street corner. Do what you do best.

I don't see this as 27 years, I see each HC tenure. Currently McCarthy is the HC and I will not put years he was not here on him. entering his 3rd season and he will be judged by the end results. As for FA pickups one the biggest in my view on keeping Kearse he provided beyond what I expected from him. Going outside in FA yes there are mid level FA that I think Cowboys should look to bring in.

I think you have to give McCarthy 4 years to be fair.

If he doesn't take us to the bowl in the next two years, hire someone else.

Three years isn't enough. Five is too much.

You: Are you not happy with the teams approach?

Me: It hasn't worked, but they sure act like it does.

Another guy: They won 12 games last last year. Something must be right.

Me: What about the results from prior years?

Both of you: Whiner! Go away! You didn't say what I wanted you to!!

Saying I whine all the time is ridiculous and you pick and choose which to remember. But whatever. I ain't here for you.

None of those were actually answering the question. You still havent done it.

I dont get involved in what other people say to you.

Agreed. Or at least to an NFC Championship Game to earn an extra year or two to reach a SB if a certain requirement is met. That makes it 6 years max to reach a SB. Plenty of time to determine whether you should keep the same coach or hire someone else.

I don't think that's the case. AC seems pretty involved in player evaluations and keeps up with all the moves. If there was something not to like, some of us homer types are willing to criticize. It's just that criticizing is easy to do.. There's only one winner each year, so it's not like the odds are with you for being positive. You have about a 3 percent chance of winning every year, statistically.

Some of us feel like we've got a good enough team to legitimately compete for the championship, even when the odds are against us.

That's what makes it fun to watch though.

By your logic, no fan of any team should be positive.

Negativity takes the fun out of being a fan. And life in general.

I don't really like how they use FA either. They can certainly do better. They do not do top tier, and overpay. They do lower tier for these 1 year deals. And skip a lot of the middle up upper middle tier, where spending a little more on a 2 or 3 year deal could be better.

And they do tend to over rate some of their own players and draft picks. I think they panicked and overpaid Armstrong once Gregory bailed. I think if Gregory stayed, they would have let Armstrong test the waters in FA. Or offered far less. And brought in Fowler because of it. We will see how all that works out. I feel the defense is better off this way, as then they drafted Sam Williams as well.

I don't mind if they don't over pay someone like Von Miller. But seriously, Wagner wasn't a huge contract. It's players like that they consistently ignore. He could have helped this team and it wouldn't be a burden on the cap.

The Cowboys are hamstringing themselves. Their offseason procedure is basically limited to what teams did in the 70s. Free Agency to them is patching a hole in the wall. Quick fix at low cost.

I seems that 3 of the last 5 and maybe 4 (can add KC I guess) of the last 5 SB winners did it on the backs of talent acquired in ways other than the draft. NE, although they do dabble in free agency, even occasionally for big talent, generally thrive on home grown talent.

But using LAR as a template glaring holes can be filled with talent upgrades via FA. There is a proven model out there. Philthy did it too in 2017.

Stephen and crew are trying to emulate the NE Patsies as they are the most consistently successful organization out there since our last SB. Even though I really like McClay the Cowboys talent acquisition department and being able to utilize that talent(coaching) just ain't on par with Belicheat. If NE is a 9 out of 10 then we are a 6.5 out of 10.

Problem I see with building thru the draft is 2-fold . . . Once a drafted players is good they want to bust the bank and there just ain't enough dough to go around (aka: Shultz). Secondly you waste a lot of time and high draft choices trying to develop a player that weakens the team (as they are unproven to start with) and they just never pan out. aka: Connor Williams, Taco, Trystan Hill.

Great coaching can overcome a lot of the above but I think the Cowboys while having good coaches (2021 = 12W-5L) don't have great coaching consistently. Maybe we get lucky and hit a home run but I have no confidence that this front office has enough NFL snap to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

I still love my 2022 Cowboys just like I have previous teams since the very early Tom Landry days.

The only thing I don't like is their SOP doesn't change no matter what. What the Cowboys did after the 2015 (4-12) season was the same approach as after the 2016 (13-3) season. There's no urgency to what they do.

If Jerry was the Eagles GM they get neither Davis or WR A.J. Brown. It may not pan out for them, but you can see some commitment to improve, and improve quickly.
Exactly.

It happens to bug me that they get in front of the media with smug looks on their face at how it's a proven formula and they are doing such a great job.

I dont pretend to have the answers, and I'm not saying that high priced free agents ARE the answer, but, most people would at least change for change sake when something doesn't work over a very large sample size.

You think how you're told to think.

You get upset at others that are capable of being critical of this organization and the decisions it makes because you wish you could do that, but you're in too deep with this character you've chosen to play on this message board.

You're on here telling others to "be patient" after 26 years of nothing like a good servant.

I too judge according to the past and what I see, but you're the one that sparked up a conversation with me because of my thoughts. I didn't start this dialogue with you, because I know where you stand when it comes to this organization, so I ignored you and your blind support. You showed that you're the one that couldn't handle it, not me.

I wouldn't say I am mad. I was mad 15 years ago. Frustrated may be a better word now after so many disappointing seasons. I understand what they are trying to do, but it is maddening that they do not see how it is almost impossible to do it successfully.

The worst part about their strategy is they do not sign top tier free agents to be playmakers or difference makers in Dallas and yet they are still having difficulty managing their CAP. And before you say they have plenty of CAP room just remember they got that CAP room by trading Cooper and letting La'el Collins and Randy Gregory go, 3 starters for a 5th round draft pick. They did not use the CAP room to adequately back-fill the talent loss, IMO. Letting starters leave to get under the CAP is not a viable strategy to me.

This will be an interesting year for the Cowboys. If they do not win the division or make the playoffs, there will be a lot of talk about what a failure this off-season was - especially since so many people have already made that claim.

As Cowboys fans we keep hoping that each new year will be the year they finally make a splash in the post-season. But I think most fans are going into this season with low expectations already.

True, My rule of thumb is you hire a HC you have to give him a chance to get the job done. If not why bother. I say 3 season to see are we making the needed progress, does not mean SB or your gone just are we making the progress. I do see this upcoming season as critical for Mike, to put together back to back winning season something that has not been done in a while. I think he has to do more than 1 step forward then 1 step back which we saw with Garrett, he was never able to string season together.

I should add that the situation is different for Mike, he was not asked to come in a rebuild the program he was brought in to get this team over the hump. In situation where you are in complete rebuild yes the HC deserves 4 to 5 years

Building through the draft is certainly ideal, but by the same means, it hasn't worked.
The surely do get up there and smirk and giggle in front of the media and act like they have a proven winning formula don't they?

Changing the subject doesn't do anything for the current conversation.

The first is the answer to the question.

The second is where you got involved.

Well, then, I'm going to say you should, or, we should all just start complaining about everything.

Because that will certainly fix it all.

If we all complain, I can see us winning 10 Super Bowls in a row.

That's fine.

I have no issues with that.

I said what I said and left it at that. AC was the one that decided to comment on what I had to say, not the other way around.

If it's negative to point out flaws in this organization, or somehow makes me seem like I'm less of a fan, then so be it.

Yeah, no problem. We may have started off on the wrong foot with the KJ thing, or whatever, but I don't hold on to grudges, especially when I realize it's nothing personal. We're all different personalities who are fans of the same team.

If some of you can blindly clap like a seal over everything then some of us can expect better than what we're getting.

We all fan in different ways.
