I'd love it if we could win a World Cup. But that's less likely than the Lions winning the super bowl.

The USA actually had a contender in 2002. Then fell off a cliff.

I think his point is that here is a case where jerry the owner is focused on hosting the World Cup where that time could be focused on GMing.
I thought we wanted him to get away from the team?

I can help as one of my cousins in England plays it, and I've sometimes played it. It's a lot of fun actually. So, there's a big circle and the pitch is a rectangular ditch patch. On top of the three posts is a small but called the wicket. The goal of the fielding team is to either catch the ball (which is about as hard as a croquet ball and yes is harder than a baseball) or to knock the wicket off. Those two ways constitute an out. The person throwing the ball to the batsman is the bowler, and the overs (how many times the batting side get to go) depends on the type of match being played.

As for the batting side, you run with the bat and touch the side within the white line which scores a run. If you manage to get the ball over the big circle line with it rolling, it's an automatic 4 points. If you absolutely smash the ball and it goes over the big circle line without touching, it's 6 points. Those are the basics of cricket.
By Jove, what?

A fan who doesn't understand that globally, the World Cup generates far more interest than the Super Bowl. Sounds about right.
I think most fans realize that worldwide soccer has a much larger fanbase. I guess it is due to the lack of options, because soccer rates right up there with watching grass growing when it comes to the level of excitement that I get from watching it. I know that there are plenty of people that disagrees with me about this.

Do us a favor and quit posting here about the Cowboys. Go find a World Cup board to get off on. 99.9% of us don’t give 2 sh*ts about the WC. I want another SB and if our GM/owner isn’t concerned about it then he needs to sell the franchise and go buy a soccer club.

Jerry haters finding another thing to complain about and hate on Jerry. This has become a daily issue. Seek help.
I thought all Cowboy fans hated Jethro? I’ve heard about some fans who support him. I just assumed they were fake or opposing fans . Lol

@CowboyRoy always tells me I’m arguing with myself that everyone hates him but I try to remind him Jethro has some supporters out there.

Only GM in league that isn’t focused 24/7 on football . It’s weird cowboys have sucked so bad for 25 years.

The World Cup is the biggest global sporting event, not the Super Bowl despite what some Americans like to believe.

But if you actually own an NFL team I'd think winning a Super Bowl would be bigger than anything else in sports.
Americans came be so full of themselves. Hopefully just naive but probably ignorant. Even the most watched Super Bowls only attract maybe a billion viewers world wide.

That leaves about 6-7 billion viewers as we approach 8 billion people worldwide. That’s who’s watching World Cup as it’s the most popular sport outside the US.

They aren’t conflicting. The World Cup isn’t even played during football season.

Except this year with it being in Qatar, but exactly overall. The two don't even interfere with each other. I do not understand why there's this flipping of the pram. As I said, if anything, this helps bring more fans to the Cowboys.

Cricket isn't even remotely as popular as soccer. Cricket is popular in England, Southeast Asia, and Australia - that's it.

Soccer is easily the most popular sport on the planet, and European soccer is highly entertaining. The MLS is bush league, though. We suck at soccer.

Pretty much. America is coming along ok I suppose internationally, but I'm not sure the US will do more than compete for the Group of 16. The US will likely get a top two spot in the group stage as I expect England to win the group followed by the US this year in Qatar. Who knows how the football landscape will look then. Football changes rapidly between World Cups. But there's one thing that's a constant. The World Cup always draws bigger ratings globally than the SB.

Exactly, and, for those that don't like the World Cup, perhaps Jerry is trying to court global fans for the Cowboys by saying what he said.

Do you follow football (not American Football)? Have you been to countries outside the US? I promise you, this is bigger than the NFL. Outside the US, there is no bigger event than the World Cup in terms of viewing when it's on. And that World Cup is going to see some massive stars. It could well be the last WC that the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo play if they play after this December's WC. Then you have the likes of Harry Kane, Thomas Müller, Erling Halland, Son from Tottenham/South Korea, and many more stars that'll be potentially at this event. Oh, and, as I've stated, depending on who's playing, that stadium hasn't had the noise it's going to have at this event. Just you watch

Also, a more experienced Kilian Mbappe for France will likely be anchoring them at that WC. Then there's the likes of Bellingham, Sergio Mane of Bayern Munich and Senegal, and, for the US, Christian Pulisic. The US does have some rising stars who should be stars by the time that WC is played.
