The Browns certainly misevaluated situation. How many draft picks did they give up. Good think they still have Baker. Lol

Browns GM should be fired.

According to the new agreement between the Players Union NFLPA and the owners NFL the arbitration decision can be overturned by the Commissioner.

The NFLPA and or the NFL can appeal the arbitrator decision to Goodell. The NFL has stated they don’t want the first case appealed . And are seeking an indefinite suspension.

This is like when Goodell used that panel to review Elliott’s case. He could hardly ignore their unanimous recommendation or why have the panel in the first place?

I do not see the league appealing the arbitrator’s decision. Union? Yep because that’s what they do.

It's not the trade for Watson, it's giving up way too much and not keeping their 1st rounder for the next draft, as w/o a QB they're not going to win a lot. Meanwhile, Texans misplayed the whole thing badly, and then the Browns oddly bailed them out. This is like going all in, and then folding before the river.

Here’s the trade deal below. And Haslam the GM said they researched the Watson case thoroughly. Could be greatest screw up in NFL history.

The Browns will receive Watson and a 2024 sixth-round draft choice (which was originally a fifth-round pick), while the Texans will receive a 2022 first-round pick (No. 13 overall), 2023 and 2024 first-round picks, a 2022 fourth-round choice (No. 107), a third-round pick in 2023 and a fourth-round pick in 2024. The 2022 fourth-rounder was an addition to what was previously reported.

Browns owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam, general manager Andrew Berry and coach Kevin Stefanski all released statements as part of Sunday's announcement, explaining their "evaluation process" of Watson before making the trade and expressing confidence in him as the face of the franchise moving forward.

"We spent a tremendous amount of time exploring and investigating the opportunity to trade for Deshaun Watson," the Haslams said. "We are acutely aware and empathetic to the highly personal sentiments expressed about this decision. Our team's comprehensive evaluation process was of utmost importance due to the sensitive nature of his situation and the complex factors involved. We also understand there are still some legal proceedings that are ongoing and we will respect due process.

Well, they knew he was going to be suspended. Which makes the 23 first rounder extremely valuable. And at that point, the Texans will know a lot more about Davis Mills, and can take a QB w/ their draft picks.

Yep

And the Unions appeal will be nothing more than a formality.

Watson is going down as he should . The Face of the Browns as their GM and owner claimed . Their GM should be fired . And Browns deserve what they get.

Right. Houston knew Watson was going down. They are even being sued for their part in potentially aiding and abating according to lawsuit filed Monday.

But at least were smart enough to bail on their QB while picking up a couple 1st rounders and more for their indefinitely suspended QB.

Future Face of the Browns . Lol
Like maybe in 2024 if he’s lucky pending these other cases which aren’t expected to go to trial until 2023.

That panel had the same gal former Fed worker I believe. She found zero and recommended Elliott be a free man, Goodell over ruled that.

She was the investigator, not part of the panel.

I believe she is the one that leaked it to Booger that they were not suspending him and he went public with that before this panel returned their recommendation. And one of the lawyers on the panel said Elliott's behavior at the St. Patty's Day parade had affected their thinking. Once that panel recommendation was made public, Goodell had no choice.

Now, we're seeing the league would be OK with 6-8 games and no appeal. Goodell really doesn't want to have to deal with this.

Report: NFL “more likely” to accept 6-8 game suspension of Deshaun Watson and not appeal
Posted by Mike Florio on June 28, 2022, 11:47 PM EDT

Who is , "The league?" Who is the person that has absolute authority to sign off on the punishment, or say no we are appealing on behalf of the league? My guess is Roger and that is a joke. Imagine being the person that can say we dont accept the punishment and then also being the person that gets to decide punishment..... bahahahhaha. Damn the NFL union is WEAK.

I hope he gets a 6 game suspension just to see diehard blues blow a gasket.

IDK. They did just give him a $1M salary this year. Seems to indicate to me they felt here was a decent chance he’d be suspended. Why else do those shenanigans with his salary?

The NFL insisted on an indefinite suspension while Deshaun Watson’s legal team argued there’s no basis for that punishment as both sides presented their cases in front of a retired judge in Delaware on Tuesday, two people in attendance told The Associated Press.

The hearing will continue on Wednesday and Watson is scheduled to be there for the duration, according to one person who spoke on condition of anonymity because the hearing isn’t public. It's expected to conclude Thursday but it's not known when a ruling will be made.

Former U.S. District Judge Sue Robinson, who was jointly appointed by the league and the NFL Players’ Association, will determine whether Watson violated the NFL’s personal conduct policy and whether to impose discipline.

The league wants an indefinite suspension for 1 reason.... they want to be able to make his fine hurt. As soon as his suspension is anything from 1 year and below, Watson gets to laugh in their face as it wont hurt him at all. The league will get pounded in the media for his fine being so little and so the league wants to avoid all of that by having an "Indefinite suspension," that will allow to get some of that big contract.
