Or Howard the Duck.......

I don't consider the first Conan movie a "Marvel" movie. Conan wasn't created by Marvel and Conan stories were published in pulp mags in the 1930's, decades before the Conan Marvel comic. The movie rights did not belong to Marvel, they had the comic book rights but do not own the character..

Same here. Great books and short stories! You’re missing out if you’ve never read Robert E. Howard.

15 Most Powerful Guardians Of The Galaxy Members In The Comics, Ranked
By Shawn S. Lealos | Gossip Chimp
July 1, 2022

Nova-and-Hercules-in-Guardians-of-the-Galaxy.jpg

The Guardians of the Galaxy grew to become certainly one of the most well-liked superteams on the planet because of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What made this much more spectacular was the truth that they have been by no means a extremely massive deal in comics earlier than that. Marvel Comics launched the group in 1969, and it appeared nothing just like the film model.

However, because of the MCU, the Guardians at the moment are extra widespread than ever, even within the comics. The group from the flicks shaped within the comics in 2007, seven years earlier than their debut within the MCU. Since that point, a few of the strongest cosmic Marvel heroes joined forces on the group, many able to matching as much as even Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

12 Strongest Superheroes Outside Of Marvel And DC
By Chris Hinton | Looper
July 1, 2022

intro-1656691081.webp

If someone told you to think of a superhero, what would be your immediate thought? Chances are that Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, Captain America, or the likes of Wonder Woman, among many other DC and Marvel icons would come to mind. And, honestly, who could fault you? Marvel is a powerhouse these days with a steady stream of big-budget films and TV series hitting screens each and every year since the dawn of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008. Despite the DCEU's failings to capture the same lightning in a bottle, the characters under that banner are larger-than-life icons, too. It truly feels like Marvel and DC own a majority stake in the very word "superhero."

However, comic book fandom is actually well-acquainted with countless heroes that aren't part of the two mainstream giants in the industry. Characters like the Todd Mcfarlane-created hellion Spawn or the corrupt, but super-powered, heroes of "The Boys" are representative of a wider, and often-times stranger world of powered beings. The strait-laced heroes who stand for justice are typically riddled with the very clichés they helped to establish in the genre such as tragic backstories. It's up to other creators in the space, whether it be in the movie, television, or comic book arenas, to create characters who are entirely set apart from what fans are used to seeing. Many times, these outliers will tread along the lines of darkness with adult-oriented stories and imagery that are often lacking from the more family-friendly Marvel atmosphere. With that said, let's examine some of the toughest heroes in this space who have created identities for themselves so iconic that they manage to stand apart from the crowd.

Zachary Levi Teases ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods,’ Talks DC and Marvel Film Differences, Similarities
By Dewayne Hamby | Patheos
July 1, 2022

ShazamFury-scaled.jpg

Following the success of the David F. Sandberg film, the Shazam family will return on Dec. 21 for “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” starring Levi with Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Djimon Hounsou, Rachel Zegler, Helen Mirren, and Lucy Liu. In this exclusive interview with Reel Faith’s DeWayne Hamby, Levi teases what fans can expect when lightning strikes twice, the “blessing” of getting the role, and the similarities between “Shazam” and Marvel films.

Are there any nuggets you can share about “Fury of the Gods”?

Not at all! (laughs) Well, I mean, it’s all under wraps for a reason. And ultimately, look, I’m a firm believer in not spoiling things. And I so to the extent that I will say I am very proud of it. I was really proud of the first one, and I really do think we made a really charming movie out of it. And now we had more time and more budget, and we’re established characters within our own world. Outside of that, and you know, Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu coming in as baddies, I mean, dude, it’s real good. Everyone at Warner Brothers is very excited about it. Everyone in DC is excited about it, so excited that we were supposed to come out next June and now we’re a Christmas movie this year! So, I think that’s that that says it all, everyone’s very pumped about the possibility of it. I think the only thing we got to worry about is that we’re going to be battling “Avatar.” So, as long as we can take down the blue Na’vi, then we’ll be styling, I think.

I’m team DC, but here’s why I loved the Marvel-themed restaurant on Disney Wish
By Ashley Kosciolek | ThePointsGuy.com
July 1, 2022

If you’ve ever wondered what happens when Ant-Man accidentally shrinks a cruise ship down to the size of a toy boat, you’re going to love Worlds of Marvel, one of three new dining venues on Disney Cruise Line‘s newest vessel, Disney Wish.

Since the line’s last new-build debuted 10 years ago, technological advancements have come a long way. Magical, jaw-dropping tech is woven into even the most mundane of experiences on Disney Wish, including dining.

I typically represent Team DC when it comes to superheroes, but I had a blast at Disney’s Worlds of Marvel dining experience, as I’ll detail below. Plus, now I know what, exactly, a Quantum Core is.

The folks at Image Comics are currently in the midst of building out an interconnected superhero universe using "Radiant Black" as the centerpiece. Well, now the comic has made the jump to animation in the form of this brand new short (above), which features a little crossover with another Image Comics series from the past, "C.O.W.L." Could this be a hint at something larger in the future? Let's not get too ahead of ourselves just yet but, for now, enjoy the short in its entirety above. Also, not for nothing, "Radiant Black" is quite good in my humble opinion and if you're looking for something new superhero-related to read, that's a great way to go.

Anyone have a good feeling about this?
I was never a big fan of the show. I watched once in a while, but I couldn't tell you which was which, and the only reason I could even tell you there names is because I'm an artist.

Edit: After posting, I actually tried to remember their names, and couldn't think of Donatello or Raphael. Had to look it up. :(

I don't. It gives me a bad vibe whenever artwork looks childishly goofy.

To me, that is usually a sign the intended audience is 5 - 8 year olds. Teen Titans Go! is an example.

There are exceptions, like HBO Max's Harley Quinn, but that series is adult dark comedy/satire driven. I doubt this latest Turtles movie leans in that direction.

Tiny Toons (I think that's what it's called) is another example.

Just realized. The Conan and Red Sonja movies are not in the list. Oh well. lol.

do you think that has to do with being barbarian " sword play movies ... instead of costume oriented Super hero types.

Didn't Marvel also have " Krull " as a sword- magic fantasy comic series , just like Conan and Red Sonja ..??

First time seeing it. What's the object?
Like Wordle but with frames from a movie. Here's how they describe the game:
MNCjCJp.png

A game for cinephiles and casual movie watchers alike! Inspired by Wordle, Heardle and all the other spinoffs.

Each day a new movie is picked from a curated list and the frames have been sourced from Shotdeck.
Can't directly link the website because it has a banned abbreviation in the web address, but here's an indirect link: https://t.co/QlOzg6mBNM

That’s where I’m coming from too. I don’t see an audience for this new version.

I think Marvel had the rights to publish the comic version of that film, but I think that was the extent of their connection to the property.
