Is this uncommon? Didn’t Romo have a clause like this in his contract? Trying to find a article on it but I thought this was common for guys to have clauses like this….

Boom there you go. He will keep your team competitive bc of his athleticism and natural talent but he won't win at the highest level bc he's too lazy.

This ^^^^ not sure many caught it. The clause tells me he's having trouble learning/executing plays and reading defenses. This also likely explains why he scrambling as much. The bottom line is he's not processing info fast enough.

Recall the late Bill Walsh once said the first thing he measured in QBs was how fast the ball comes out of his hand coz it's the key to how quickly he's processing all the information required for a successful play.

The QB should set the tone for the team.
To have to be forced to do film study is not a good look at all.

Exactly, that's something the entire team, and especially the QB, needs to do. Otherwise, 1. You won't see your weaknesses and find how to correct those and 2. What the opponent's weaknesses are, so you know how to dissect them on game day.

That was one of the great things about Troy Aikman.
He set an example for his teammates on hard work and discipline.

Romo was to meet on Tuesdays with the coaches regarding the game plan but it was unclear if that was at his request or management's.

What is uncommon is to make something like this public. It doesn't even insinuate he's not been putting in the work, it states it loud and clear for the team and the fans.

I thought there was something off about him at OU, he was aloof from his teammates and not at all like Mayfield or Hurts.

Agreed, now if he can just become more consistent we could have an elite QB after all !

I think we do already have one. What we lack is a competent OC. Prior and during the Pats game, he played at an elite level. After that, he struggled. What changed? He was injured, and Moore didn't adjust. If Mike were to have assumed playcalling controls, especially having had Brett Favre who would play through everything, he'd have known how to adjust.

True......it's interesting we've never seen such a clause in a Michael Vicks contract. It was no secret he was the last player to come to practice and the first one the leave as Falcon. Hell, he even admitted it after his career.

Ok maybe that’s what I’m thinking about in regards to Romo.

I mean it’s clear for Romo to have made it as far as he did that preparation or studying was never a issue for him.

But a guy like Murray who’s yet to live up to his potential seems to be trying to get by on skill. And that’s scary to invest that much money in. Especially since he won’t even have DHop for the first weeks of the season….Murray is a wierd case. Good kid and gifted but he’s limited due to his size. He has to use his brains to overcompensate for that and he doesn’t seem to feel like he should I guess.
