He should never play another down in the NFL and should be serving a lengthy prison term…pretty disgusting how men can treat females and essentially walk away unscathed…

No one has the right to inappropriately touch another person …. NO ONE…

The NFL is an embarrassment.

Elliott wasn’t prosecuted and the NFL’s own investigator (a woman) recommended no suspension. Yet he still got 6 games. Watson should’ve gotten a year at least.

He pretty much did. He did not play the entire 2021 season because of this.

Im soneone that thinks the actual words we use are important. Watson was never accused of rape... ever. In addition if you think sexual assault is more important to sports leagues than betting on games, all you need to do is look at Pete Rose and Calvin Ridley to know that is absolutely not correct. Ray Rice knocked his girlfriend flat out and got 3 games originally. Ridley bet and BAM like with lightning speed was given a quick 1 year suspension.
That is because the NFL would lose more money with gambling if fans think the games are fixed then losing a few women football fans. Billions of dollars compared to a vocal millions, the NFL made their choice.

The Woke mob speaks. Watson did not commit a criminal act. Two grand juries threw the case out.

Its not.... READ THE RULING. She makes it very clear as to why 6 games is appropriate for Watson.
So you think Goddell will go against the CBA and suspend him for 6 more games because of public pressure?

Not impossible, it's a business. Although there's an argument because owners seem untouchable.

I think the CBA allows room for Goodell to increase the suspension. I don't think the NFL cares too much about the public perception when making decisions like this one, though. If Goodell appeals and tries to increase the suspension it will be because enough owners want him to do so. I guess an example would be a team like the Cowboys who feel slighted because their players' suspensions were strong in contrast to Watson's. I suspect; however, that the owners would prefer the lighter precedent of a six game suspension because any one of them could/will find themselves in a similar position in the future. Even Peyton Manning has some sexual assault skeletons in his closet, not to compare his actions to Watson's.

I wonder if the league will negotiate a 8 game suspension with a big fine. That Watson would agree too. The talking heads are having a field day with this.

Yeah, Deshaun is freak more then a criminal. I wonder how much money did he pay for the settlement.

The judge who reviewed this said he was a sexual predator but only did 6 games because that appears to be the NFLs usual punishment for this conduct, which should be a great embarrassment to NFL and Goodell. With word like assault and sexual predator in the ruling it will be hard for Goodell to not appeal, and if not he will lose all credibility when it comes to promoting women rights to a safe harassment free workplace that it appears doesn’t now exist in the NFL which is truly sad.

Let’s be honest, the league has been terrible with the treatment of women and it starts with the owners. The NFL has let the owners/front offices get away with years and years of sexual harassment. Players beating their wives/girlfriends and people expect the league to come down hard on Watson without consequences to the rest of the league, not going to happen.

the league doesnt need to negotiate anything and they dont need Watson to agree to anything. The league just needs to appeal and Roger can do as he did in the past... which is anything he wants.

Honestly, I have no idea what he will do. This is really interesting on many fronts. This is a former federal judge. She is extremely competent and to me, after reading the actual ruling she put out, I think it is very sound. So, does Roger take the very first case to go before an agreed upon arbitrator and just dismiss her ruling and do what he wants? Or does he let the 6 game suspension stand knowing the media is going to continue to have "Outrage." Honestly, Im not so sure there is so much "Outrage," out there. JUst because the sports talking heads are all over this doesnt mean the nation is outraged. IN this forum, the outrage isnt about this case, its about the past cases involving Cowboys players that did things not as bad as Watson yet got a very similiar suspension, so I can dismiss all the "Outrage," I see in here.

If I were a betting man, I say the league appeals the ruling to King Roger. That will cause them problems when the next CBA comes up.

and rightfully so. They are a SPORTS league, not the Justice Department. Let the criminal justice system deal with Rape and other cases of sexual assault. Lets let the NFL worry about what we are here for.... FOOTBALL!

so you think the NFL and their players invented abuse of woman? My earliest childhood memory I have is my dad beating the hell out of my mom with a belt. Sexual abuse of woman is as old as mankind. This is a societal problem, I am not sure why people expect the NFL to be the entity to deal with it. Society as a whole is responsible for dealing with the problem.
