He'll probably hurt himself signing the contract. Good player, but very injury prone.

The offense looks atrocious, but if the other team doesn't score, we can't lose.

That seems to be the thinking.
Offense might look atrocious at times, but they still moved the ball at ease towards the end during 2 minute drills and scored a TD to end the day against this aggressive defense.

I’ve seen post after post—people crying for this guy. Sign Barr, we need Barr, do something Jerry, get it done Cap Boy, blah blah blah. So they sign him, and now it’s “what a dumb move!”

Needless to say -- that's typical for this website!! We don't just take to anyone, that's for sure! I'm elated, though.

Can he assist in practice covering Noah Brown when they have him in triple coverage?

Offense doesn't look atrocious. I don't know how this lunacy started but it needs to be corrected.

Missing a few passes in practice or giving up a likely sack to Micah Parsons does not constitute atrocious.

OK, I am quite atwitter with this signing.
He is a powerful bookend to Micah, albeit at 30something, I see him as a stopgap.
But if this is our wad for a splash in FA, it seems worth it. Jolly good times. Carry on leeward to shore. furl tha high main...

Allows Micah to rush the passer more.....is all you need to know!!!

The big question is, does this mean more time for Micah at DE?
I think his potentiual is in a lithe DE and instigator/disruptor.

Canna wait until September!
More Kool-ade!!!

Barr had his best years with George Edwards (Cowboys LB coach 2xs). Barr is similar to Parsons in that they are LBers that can rush the passer, play coverage, and stop the run. Barr is more of a Strong side LB/DE. With the glaring weakness at DE, Barr will see more time on the End of the line instead of behind it. However, if they can play Barr, Parsons, Vander Esch, and Cox on the field at the same time with additional help at DT (major need), this will be a top 5 defense. Its needed because the offense will suck.

Like Parsons out of college, Barr was an athletic freak playing offense his 1st 2 years at UCLA.

It's 1 year 2 million. How can that be a dumb move? Even if he can't play anymore it's not a dumb move. I'm not directing this at you, just in general.

I don't get this signing, to be honest.
I'd have rather used some of that dry powder to improve another area of the team.
I'm actually surprised that you think this is weird or strange.

The 2nd best linebacker on the team is injury prone and currently on a one year prove it deal and the 3rd best linebacker is coming off surgery and only played nine defensive snaps last year

Adding a veteran 20-30 snaps a game player like Barr was a given (most fans have been questioning linebacker depth since the draft......)

I havent watched him play enough recently to know if his play has fallen off a cliff with age.

But if it hasn't and he's got some juice left, I like the signing.

I just hope he plays like Cobb, Bennett, and Quinn.

And not like Poe, Clinton-Dix, Griffen, Nyseskhe and (after about 5 games) Aldon Smith too.
Should have traded Alston Smith after the first few games for a pick. Lol. Hindsight is 20/20!
