9 of the 10 teams with the most cap space left over right now have one thing in common. They haven't won anything in ages. In fact (with the exception of the Broncos 7 years ago) the last Super Bowl win for that group was Dallas in 1995.. Not exactly a ringing endorsement on what you are saying.

At some point you have to go for it and spend to win now. The last 5 Super Bowl Champions are all in the bottom 10 in cap space left and all (but probably the Eagles) are primed to compete again.

Doesn't help that the money you are talking about rolling over has been used by management to overpay our own players time and time again the last decade or so (Lawrence, Smith, Elliott, Cooper, maybe Dak, et al).

And you will like anything Jerry is spitting at you ...... its what you do.

Maybe so, but just because a person resists negativity, doesn’t mean he supports EVERYTHING.

Just because I despise a “public servant” doesn’t mean I love his opponent, ya know?

He seems compelled to comment on every negative comment. I wouldn’t have the energy!

Sound and fury, signifying nothing.

I am amazed, huddled masses of dazed fans, at your grasping of straws. A 40ish player passed over by 30 teams has us all atwitter with antickipation.
Show some decorum, some class! Do we have any class left?

Yes, lemmings, Beat the bushes for O line help but quit this hysteria, chaps, over marginal talent.
NOVEL IDEA: Play our players until we find the right one!

Peters is a free agent. He has said he wanted to sign on with a contending team. Obviously, he doesn't think the Bears qualify (for good reason).

So last year he was fine playing for a scrub team and now he wants to play for a contender? Right.

Last year he was also at 2 1/2 weeks of training camp. This year? Nada.

No team has shown any interest in him. Why? Surely they have access to the same tape our media experts have.

Id roll with Smith. Yes, it could be ugly. But hed get experience. This isnt our all in year anyway.

Next year Id cut Tyrone, Zeke and Lawrence. Sign Pollard, redo Ceedee and Diggs.

Then restructure whomever you can and break out the credit card. Shoot for a three year window.

My guess Dallas decides to wait until after the first weeks games are played so he is not on a yearly salary. Kind of risky if that happens but Dallas has this idea that the Cowboys have all the leverage. A rookie left tackle Tyrus Smith playing his first game.

the jones boys love bargins, and getting someone cheap as possible. Sad, this is not the time to lowball a decent OT.
But jones boys cant help themselves.
I hope he turns them down!

So you hope a player that could greatly help your "favorite team" doesn't sign with them? Just to stick it to the Jones? Yeah that sounds like real clown behavior to me.

It's a 2-3m deal, seems like it will get done. Does he start or is he a swing tackle?

Good question. Maybe they'll take a look at what he can do on the practice field before determining that. There are still things to settle.

I would argue that signing Peter's isnt so much a need just because we have the CAP and must spend it. It's because the whole pre-season appeared to be an acceptance that Tyler was a project at LT (hence no real LT reps) and that he could plug and play at Guard whist having a All-Pro outside him....his future development would be better enhanced being around Peters (in game and training....unless they're planning on wheelchairing Tyron to ever practice).

Remember we only have the CAP because Stephen messed up the Randy Gregory signing, which (if as rumored was similar to the Denvor offer) would of cost $22.7m (2022 and 2023) which would of actually put us $10m in deficit over the two years.

so i guess peters has moved on then dont blame him

It ain't over 'til it's over, although Stephen has a way of failing to charm the pants off of his potential clients.

Let's hope this contract thing works out, anyway, OK? We need help desperately at LT, let's just face facts.

The two sides are most likely playing "First to Blink" so a no deal is in the cards. Stephen wants only cheap so, no cheap no deal.
