I’d agree with most of your thought here and while I’d also agree we’ve done a better job recently bringing in talent we’ve still ignored some core weaknesses like at DT for example while not managing player personnel as well as we could have. That’s how we ended up with issues on OL and at WR this year.

And we can also argue we haven’t managed some of our stars contracts as well over paying Zeke and Dak. And why we had to let Cooper and Collins go who were important pieces.
Collins has been missed?

So basically by your account there is no skill involved in building a championship team, it’s all luck based on hitting on an Elite QB. Jethro has just been unlucky.

I’m not sure we can say he’s even tried to hit on an Elite QB?
Do you think it is a coincidence that the chiefs went from pretender to contender in every season since mahomes arived?

You think the bills going from pretender to contender as soon as Allen showed up?

Bengals a pretender to a contender within 2 years of burrow showing up?

Bucs 11 straight years no playoffs to winning the sb the first year Brady showed up?

Chargers from joke to being talked about as sb contenders now the herbert showed up? Or all those teams just figured it all out at the same time a hof talent showed up at qb?

But the bigger point is if an Elite QB is all you need why hasn’t Jethro pursued one?

All of those QB’s weren’t taken as 1st overall pick. You could trade up . And there’s been some of these Elite QB’s become available in FA that he doesn’t pursue.

Jethro must not believe in your philosophy? Unless he thinks the QB’s he’s had were Elite?

Calls it one of the positives of the Cowboys structure.

"I talk to players when a coach might not know that." Hmmm...what happens he says one thing and a coach says another?

He's a megalomaniac. That's why.

Did you not pay attention to my previous post on all the QBs taken in first rd and the percentage of them that were good>

I’ll ask again ; if the NFL is all about the Elite QB’s why hasn’t Jethro pursued one ? Or does he think he’s already had them in Romo and Dak?

He talks more because he's a seeker of celebrity status and his ego needs that. Once he saw how quickly Jimmy Johnson became a bigger than life figure, he had to have some of that.

If you've studied communication, it is not what he says as much as how he says it that reveals his motive. The "uhs" are there for a specific purpose, to hold the floor. As long as he's making noise, he controls the mic and should not be interrupted.

He really doesn't care what he reveals. When he was asked about his style of GMing years ago, he smiled and proudly said he doesn't watch film of players. Why do you think he made a point of that? Do you think any GM in the NFL would boast of that to his owner? The message was clear. He can do that job better than anyone doing it full time and putting in the necessary work to accomplish the goals.

He always wanted a NFL team but until he got one and benefitted from a professional building his team and turning it into the black in short time, he didn't really understand the real magic. Yes, he's rich but being famous is more personally gratifying to him and he cannot give that up as long as he can talk.

He clearly believed Romo was a guy that could take the team to a SB, and he was good enough. I dont see Dak as being that guy, but with the money they paid Dak, they clearly do. Reality is the only way you know if you have the right guy is to go all in on one. Dak is just good enough to keep the team from using high draft capital to draft a guy and then start him. You need ti have nothing, and know you are handing over the team to a young guy. I dont see that happening anytime soon.

Ok, so if you believed Romo was Elite enough then Jethro failed building around him. And if you believe Dak isn’t Elite enough then Jethro has failed in his evaluation .

In both cases based in your beliefs Jethro has failed this franchise. Not sure why you continue to be so supportive of him?

I dont understand how YOU dont understand how this game works. Teams dont just win a sb. There is no line you get in where you get a SB handed to you when it is your turn. Did you just see there have been more games decided by 3 points or less in the first three weeks of the season in the history of the league? Salary Cap in action.

Stop living in the 70s. The rules of the game keep teams from just being better than everyone else. One play here, one play there decides outcomes. The rams won the SB last year and won 3 straight playoff games by 3 points in which they could have EASILY lost all three. BUt hey, since they won all 3, that GM is da man.... This year, those same rams could have the exact opposite and lose that one game by 3 and they are out. Unfortunately, thats the way it goes in todays NFL. The difference between the SB winner and the 6 seed isnt much.

So in your opinion Jethro has done everything possible to win a SB. He has an Elite QB ands strong enough supporting cast. Just needs some luck ?

You can’t have it both ways Reid. If you believe we must have an Elite QB and we don’t then how are we going to reach our ultimate goal with an owner who couldn't build a good enough team around a QB he thought was Elite.

You’re still not responding to how can we expect to win a SB without an Elite QB which you have argued is the key.

Youve even agreed our QB isn’t Elite while Jethro believes he is. That’s a misfire in itself. How are we to overcome this grave poor evaluation. But yet you still believe we have enough. Just need some luck.

You can’t have it both ways Reid claiming teams must have an Elite QB then expect this team to do well without one. And then claim this owner has done a good job if he’s missed on your key ingredient.
