Does Prescott or Rush provide Cowboys best opportunity for success duration of the season

Hopefully everyone is excited and thrilled with the outstanding job Rush has done. It’s definitely well above most expectations . Our season is still in full force as a result. He’s performed well within the game plan making key plays and throws. He’s no doubt solidified warranting a contract. We finally have a backup QB who can come and win some games for us.

This thread isn’t intended to be about who is our best choice for this week . The fact Rush is playing well hopefully enables the powers that be the luxury of holding Prescott out longer if needing to fully recover.

This discussion should entail who is our best choice for the duration of the season. I’ve seen some who have suggested we keep Rush in and therefore bench Prescott . I can’t imagine this thought reflects the majority of Cowboy fans. I’d like to hear the arguments .
 
For this season?

Rush seems to be the better option because he plays within his limits, doesn't try to do too much, and plays to his abilities instead of trying to be something he's not, but I don't think Rush or Dak leads us anywhere in the post season.

For the future I believe neither guys should be the starter for the Cowboys.

If anything, this continues to highlight what Jerry Jones has done in the regular season. We are competitive and we are making headlines. All of this equals big headlines when we go one and done in the playoffs. All of this translates it $$$$ for Jerry's bank account. It doesn't matter who's back there because the bigger question is, can we win in the cold of Winter when it really means something?
 
I'm just glad I don't have to make that decision. Right now I'd still field Dak once he's healthy (and got his mind sorted out). But IF Cooper can pull off a win against a true contender like the Rams... then the coaching staff will be in trouble. :D But what a nice problem to have...
 
To be honest I think you see the same results just two very different ways of getting there. Rush is the bus driver who will keep you in games, take advantage of a great defense, and rarely win you a game.

Dak on the other hand will throw you 5 TDs one week looking like a league MVP and turn around and struggle to get first downs the next.

either way I think this is a 10-12 win team.
 
What’s the name of that qb that got that big money contract in Seattle? Not saying rush is that or dak is Rodgers but I think you are seeing some competent coaching and cashing in while the gettin is good.

to answer the question the answer is dak, but with the caveat that the game planning remains the same. All throughout the off-season we heard about the type of team this was supposed to be. We get to weak 1 and bam it was all talk. Was it dak? Was it play calling? Might’ve been a combination of the 2.

this team makes the wrong move to keep dak on the bench after he’s ready now and for the future and Cooper will get a decent deal for a quarterback starved team next offseason. He’s earned it

Well, rush is the next Tom Brady so I think we should go with him. And he sees the field better, is more accurate, doesnt panic in the pocket like Dak, is more confident, goes through his progressions better and doenst audible out of every run play every time.

Plus Dak is just an average bus driver that really doesnt know how to manage the game while Rush is a clutch gunslinger.

I say we trade Dak and go with Rush. Maybe we can get a 5th rounder for Dak.

Hopefully Dak has been seeing a doctor about his screwed up mind.
 
Game 1 Dak? or the best possible Dak.

Average Dak that we saw the last half of the year will be no different and maybe even worse for the team than Rush.

Dunno if that was sarcasm but I do think that he just doesn't trust his body anymore since that calf injury. When he entered the league his mobility and run game was yet another weapon for this team, but ever since mid season last year he has slowed down considerably. Atm Rush is doing a better job scrambling, and that's supposed to be one of Dak's strengths.

If you keep the game plans the same (that is rely on good defense, run the ball, keep the passing offense simple), Dak is the better option. He can run for an occasional first down and keep a drive going that Rush can't do.

If the coaches try to put the ball in Dak's hands too much and ask him to win games, they will run into he same problems as before.

The key is having the defense to continue to play lights out

I think this is the correct answer.

But...if there is truth to Rush reading defenses and better decisiveness and getting ball out quicker...that might actually win you games too. Whos to say that wouldnt work better in playoffs?

I go with Dak as the better overall player...I just dont know how instrumental the things Rush does better than Dak affect the offense.
 
Dak is the better qb by a lot, hopefully hes been watching a lot of tapes and working on how is going to read plays both presnap and as the develop.
