So what? The point is he didn't look like he was worth what they gave up when he took the field. King Homer brought up SF as some kind of proof that CHI is good. I pointed out Lance played like crap and the response is, "well he's the starter." Does that mean he didn't play like crap?

Edit: King Homer didn't bring up SF, you did. Apologies.

It was the opener and Lance is still raw. I certainly wouldn’t have given up what they did for him but it’s obvious they don’t have confidence in Jimmy G. He’s 3-3 this season and they might have a better record had Lance not gotten injured. He does have potential. I brought up San Francisco because you were downgrading the Bears as if they were nothing. We just scored 20 more points on them than anyone else has this season. I’m not saying Chicago is good, but they’re not as bad as you’re trying to make them out to be.

Records and how teams are playing right now don’t mean much because there’s still nine games left. It comes down to who’s playing the best football entering the playoffs.
Exactly why it doesn't seem reasonable to point to game 1 as an example of the quality of a team or a unit in week 8.

It’s reasonable to point out they have beaten a formidable team this season when someone is acting like the Bears suck. The NFL is such a week week league you can’t totally judge any team off their record after eight games because things can change. Look what’s become of Tampa since they beat us in the opener. We’ve gone in one direction and they’ve gone in the other.

How bad am I making them out to be? All I said was it's the Bears. They've shown all year they can't stop the run. I assume their offensive struggles have contributed to the lack of points scored against them in some of their losses. When you're up a couple scores and they can't do anything offensively, you run the ball and kill clock. That's why they're the worst team against the run.

You said it’s the Bears like it’s the Bears of previous seasons when they sucked. We’ve shown all season we can’t stop the run we currently rank 23rd and continue to fall. Despite their defensive issues they took it to our defense yesterday. They moved the ball better against us than anyone we’ve played and scored more points than we’ve given up all season.

It's the 3-5 Bears from this season. Is that better?

As for our own team stopping the run, I've been on that since the offseason. I've said multiple times they need to get that fixed if they want to make noise in the postseason.

At 3-5 the Bears aren’t out of it. They’re two games back in their division and have the same record as the Packers. Justin Fields is improving. As for our run defense, we better get it fixed or it’s going to be our undoing again if we make the playoffs.

Bears aren't making the playoffs if they can't stop the run. They're 0-2 in the division and 1-5 vs the NFC.

Do you think somewhere on a saxophone forum there’s posters who take themselves super seriously and are like go play football ya jocks

Probably.

I"m just saying. It's like some of these people come up with the strangest perspectives, so I can only assume.

I actually played qb. The reason the cowboys will lose in the playoffs is twofold
Dak doesn’t throw his receivers open.
And
Defensive coordinators too easily take away the east stuff and he doesn’t know how to get the hard stuff.

call me a romo lover or Kenny g all you want. Bump this thread when the cowboys win the super bowl I’ll be delighted

Maybe, just maybe a healthy Dak Prescott does make a difference for this team. Going out on a limb…

Update/Clarification: Of course Dak doesn’t get ALL the credit. But the EFFECT of a healthy Dak is a better team performance, just like the EFFECT of Micah Parsons is better performances of the defensive players around him. (Seriously, some people need lessons in reading comprehension.)
My god, if Dak does not go to the Super Bowl this year, with this D, will everyone please admit that maybe it’s time to move on.

The same can be said for the Cowboys is you want to go there. The Bears put up more yards rushing against us yesterday than we put up against them and we had a back put up 54 rushing yards on one play. Just to be clear I’m not saying the Bears are going to make the playoffs.

I liked what I saw from Dak yesterday. He was in control of his offense, was mobile and had some good passes into tight windows. Really a nice effort.

Because of Pollards play I wouldn't call it the Dak effect though. But that's the point. With Cooper Rush the offense was changed into a game management relying on the run game kind of unit. The QB doesn't have to go wannabe superstar anymore with this team. It's about steering the ship, not trying to paddle all the time. Now add Dak's better arm and higher versatility and you have a top notch unit.

But I am also waiting for the games against Minny and GB. Those are where the Dak effect is really needed, where a true top 10 QB should make the difference compared to a backup. I'm looking foward to that. :)

Great post.... but I noticed you mentioned "But i am also waiting for the games against Minny and GB"

Minny barely beat the Lions and GB got beat by the Washington Commanders with WENTZ playing.....

Im not exactly sure what you're waiting for.....

Well Minnesota is the only team outside the NFCE with 6 wins. They have something going. With most of last year's front runners now struggling, they're the team to beat.

And I just hate the Packers so no matter how much they're struggling, shoving AR's own arse into his mouth is always a thing to cherish. :)

I don't care too much about the NFCE rivalries, but beating the Niners and GB always brings me joy.

like 41 points offensively and we got fans STILL hating Dak and wanting a wr. Its asinine. I think the offensive side is set. I luv the fact we may have the best TE room in the league. Hendershot is a Hybrid TE-WR that offers versatility and HUGE pass catching ability. Runs routes like a wr. If we utilize 12,13 personnel much more, I see 0 reason to add a wr. The defense can stand 2 add a DE..A big Boy. We are a bit light weight-wise there. Maybe a Greg Ellis type DE.

Minny and Dallas are mirror images.
