Dallas defense just kicked the doors off of a very good Viking's team. I have not seen a defense this great on all levels ever. Even better than the:
85 Bears
86 Giants
76 Steelers
Ray Lewis Ravens

The Cowboys pass rush is deadly and I don't think they have peaked yet. Every defensive player deserves a game ball Kearse, Parsons, Armstrong, Gallimore, Fowler, D-Law, Williams, LVE, Clark, Brown, Diggs. Every offensive linemen deserves a game ball as well. The O-line was opening up 5 yard lanes. Talk about depth...this is the deepest team in football. This O-line is shaping up as well. The O-line is getting to the 2nd level and just mauling. Smith, McGovern, Biadasz, Martin and Steele are like uncaged animals. Dak had all day against a good defense. Pollard has proven to be just as explosive as Tyrek. Parsons is DPOY.

I am ready for Thanksgiving Day. The march to the Superbowl is great, enjoy the Kool-Aid. What Y-all think?

Go Dallas!!!
85 Bears
84 rushing yards allowed per game
34 INTs

Our defense is comparable to the ‘85 bears? Wow. This isn’t even the 4th best defense in Cowboys history. Maybe we should let them win a playoff game before we declare them anything.

Who's the 4th? I kind of thought that was up in the air? Who am I missing?

That ‘85 bears team beat the Cowboys 44-0 at Texas Stadium. I think it’s the worse home loss in Cowboys history.

The ‘85 bears defense is and will remain the gold standard for NFL defenses and as big a Cowboys fan as I am, if you take the fan glasses off, our current defense is good, but certainly not great. No team can be in the discussion of “great” without winning several playoff games. Maybe we can this year, but we haven’t done anything yet.

Right now this team needs to win a game on Thanksgiving Day for the first time in 4 yrs!

I could be wrong on this because I'm not a defensive expect. Not even advanced. But didn't the 46 defense work mainly against 21 personnel? Not so great against teams with a slot WR?

Agreed on the Ravens comparison to the 85 Bears.

I was fortunate enough to attend the Broncos-Ravens playoff game in 2000. The Ravens defense had great players everywhere. Adams and Siragusa at DT destroyed OLs allowing Ray Lewis to run wild around the line of scrimmage. They had first rounders at CB, a HOF in Rod Woodson at FS and other great role players along the DL. The poster said it earlier. Give them 10 points on offense and they legitimately expected to win. Crazy.

All I know is they completely dominated everyone except Dan Marino and the fins that year. And won the SB 46-10, holding the AFC champ pats to 123 total yards.

Yeah you had to spread them out and force them to defend a quick passing game in space. In saying that, it obviously was not an easy task. Also the majority of the teams weren't built to operate offensively in this manner.

There was no way you were going to move them off the ball.

I know, and half the 123 yards was garbage time when the Bears backs off at the end. The had negative yards at halftime.

The Dolphins used a slot WR.

Sorry man,but they are not even in the conversation as being as good as the 92 93 defense...that team COULD stop the run.

For anyone wanting to see what good defense looks like. Watch the 1993 AFC Divisional playoff game between the Chiefs and Oilers. Both defenses were better than ours is at the moment. But I believe our current D is very good for the time period.

I think it's questionable if the Cowboys Defense is as consistent as the '85 Bears Defense once was.
It's especially so, vs. the top teams. There's no question that they're very outstanding in the present.

To be completely fair to both teams, it's extremely difficult to compare teams of the past to the present ones.

The greatest defensive team in football history was the 2000 Ravens.

They held their opponents to 10 points or less in 11 games out of 16.
Did not allow a TD in 6 of those 11 games including 4 shutouts.

Defense gives up 6.5 yards per carry last game and over 5 yards per carry the previous games.

Uhh..

I still have the taste of Green Bay in my mouth (pause). When this team can stop the run consistently, maybe they could possibly be listed in the same phone book as the 85 Bears.
Stop putting green bay in your mouth. Not healthy. Monkey green bay pox is spreading.

Did you even SEE the 85 Bears defense play? No comparison. Dallas isn’t even the best defense THIS YEAR, let alone better than one of the best defenses of all time.
