The regular season is a building block to the playoffs. This team has potential to win in the playoffs.
True statement. Every week they’re trying to correct mistakes made the previous game. Scouts are out scoring other teams for strengths and weaknesses. If the Cowboys stay healthy they can go all the way.

Funny how division titles and the best record in the NFC over 2 seasons isn't much of anything in your book. Whatever they win this year, they are good and fun to watch.
Last two years is part of the mix-bag of wins and loses of the last 27 years.
11 time in the playoff, but not one appearance in the Conference Championship game during that time. That's got to be a record of some kind....
.
Look at the big picture.

Works better than constant whining
Riiiiiight.......whatever......
Football isn't important enough to whine.
Just making an observation.
Obviously, it's very important to you that a team of strangers makes or breaks your outlook on your life.

I'd much rather buy into the hype of an 8-3 team that has a 99% chance of making the playoffs than be humbled by a floundering **** show that can't get out of its own way.

The eyeball test shows to me that this team still doesn't have the greatness needed to go on a January run. Mental errors, penalties, not playing smart (bad interceptions). It takes talent and luck to win in the playoffs. You have to play mistake-free football to get that luck and those breaks to go your way

How many times have Cowboys fans buy into the hype, only to end the season with a disappointing conclusion.

Being a Dallas fan since 1977, seeing the Cowboys, in the playoffs, were a year thing. Winning playoff games and even getting to Superbowls once and a while.

Like seasons past, it has be enjoyable, seeing the Cowboys winning more games than losing. But I am not going to buy into the FOOLS GOLD Jerry sells fans since 1995.
Jerry wins every season b/c Dallas is the richest franchise in all of sports. At very least, Top 5. On the field, can't even get to a NFC Conference game. Until this team can get to one conference finals, not falling for it.
Dak has a losing playoff record, as did Romo did. A fan of both, but neither could produce in the playoffs.
So hopefully, this is that season to get to a NFC Conference. Don't have to win the darn game, just get there. Until then...fools gold
we always had a reputation, of not being able to win the big won . Still my favorite team.

A record? lol Tell us when were the Lions in the Conference Championship game? How about you look at the big picture. 27 years has absolutely nothing to do with the current team. Enjoy the ride.

That's the antithesis of the OP. Fool's Gold vrs This Year is Different. Depends which album you've bought. and both have their merits and are open to discussion ....and as in life the answer is probably somewhere in the middle.

The difference with this year (well for me) is the starting expectation.....I thought this was a 'soft' rebuild year with an emphasis on next year once the CAP was righted and we were able to supplement the roster with above JAG FA's (based on the use of Signing Bonus). I'm riding this as a 2022 unexpected wave, where we are going to be in a strong position in 2023.

Call it what you want but we’ve never had a good defense and now we do.

We had good defenses (and better offenses) in 2016 and 2018. Im not arguing with your overall optimism, but we have seen this before.....expectation over execution. This year, hopefully, we maintain that promise.

This. Why? The past 26 seasons of playoff irrelevancy. I won’t believe we can make it to an nfc championship game until I see it.

This thread would of been a lot more constructive if we'd concentrated on what's making this year different (over recent years/failings).

The attempt at trying to reset the CAP. The Gregory fiasco, losing Tyron, drafting Tyler(who looked as if he may struggle at G let alone LT), not re-signing Coop, having to play Rush.

What we've done, possibly by chance and necessity, more than design is that we've changed our identity. As you say Micah is now the focal point and leader of the team....a player that does it on the field and brings (especially the youngsters) up to his level. On offense we've found that the line is suited to run blocking and that using Zeke AND Tony as 1 and 1a (rather than primarily the Owner's Boy) gives a varied game that's difficult to counter.

This has allowed Dak to play a managerial game, which better suits his talents than trying to force the game....now if Moore can just accept this and not turn to the pass at first sign of trouble then we've golden.

We arent perfect....though i'd argue if Quinn can keep the Defense committed to stopping the run on 1st/2nd down, but this is the closest we've come to being in contention for a long while.

Great post I totally agree if we can just keep this thing on the rails I believe we can get further this year.

I'm not guaranteeing we get to the Super bowl or win it. But the possibility exist to make it to an NFC championship game.

Our defense is definitely a cut above this year and Micah can impact a game and just his presence opens things up for other players to do their best work.

That said this defense must stop the run for us to be successful in the playoffs That along with the elimination of the stupid penalties.

Those two things would cover a multitude of sins and if by some chance we could actually out coach somebody and I don't mean just go for it on fourth down no matter where you are on the field being our ultimate game plan.
I mean out coach somebody with a team specific game plan Don't have a problem believing Quinn is capable of this but Moore is a completely different story.

I don’t think we ever thought those defenses were good. We just hoped they were good enough to support a better offense. That’s not the case this year, the defense can carry the offense.
