Actually not. Marriotta is 17th in the league in EPA per play, and his number is only slightly higher than what Rush’s was.

He’s not very good.
I'm not claiming Mariota is very good just a fairly competent NFL QB. Rush played on a loaded Superbowl calibre roster whereas Mariota played for the Falcons - swap the teams around and the data would be vastly different.

Marriottas career has proven to be below average.

Super bowl caliber team? We haven’t one a playoff game in a few years and the NFC is the worst it’s been in like a decade. I think that’s an exaggeration.

So do you think the answer is to get cheap at QB and get someone slightly below average like Marriotta and spend the money elsewhere? I’m just curious.

There is nothing good about Dak's contract. Yeah, it's better than Russell Wilson because he and his team sucks. But that alone doesn't make Dak's a good contract. Dak is a 50M cap hit next year. One of the biggest cap hits in the league. In order to make Dak's cap hit next year to look like this year, Dallas would have to push another 30M forward. Which they're not going to do.

I really wish people would stop comparing our situation with others and claiming we have it good. We don't. Their situation has nothing to do with Dak. Dak's cap hit next year is horrible. There is nothing good about it.

Yet his cap hit this year is only is only $19MM. Average them both and you're at $34MM per year which is not a bad cap hit for a franchise QB. They can easily restructure his cap hit next year if they so choose as they already have voidable years in 2025-2026.

I think 10-15 is realistic. Its what Dalton makes correct, so if you try and make him a starter, 19 seems like a real number. Look at What JG restructured for, Rush if he accepted that kind of deal, maybe he gets more starter offers,, No ones handing Rush 25mil per year.

Rush is basically AD.. His worth is being far overrated, teams will not be lining up to pay rush and Rush is nowhere near the qb Dak is..thats a fact, him starting 17 games and being successful, not great IMO..its why hes a backup.
I get your point though. Geno makes 3.5mil this year..im sure that will change but rushes agent would be out of touch asking for 20-30mil, he won't get it,
Dalton was signed as the backup

Some so called fans would still criticize Dak if we won a Super Bowl this year. Just think about that. The internet is a funny place.

This trigger topic is kinda played out.

Reasonable posts have been made about why the situation is what it is. Triggerers dont want to engage in reasonable convo about it...just hate.

We need a new trigger topic.

I will never be able to appreciate Dak's contract because I do not believe his skills and talent are worth it.

The less he does the better we are and he can't consistently commit to that play style.
And you look foolish every game he plays.

For you guys that want to replace a high priced quarterback with an average low salary option you probably should trade up in the draft and get a Matt Jones/Fields type option. Have that quarterback locked up for 5 years at a reasonable salary. Could we win a Super Bowl with a Fields or Jones at quarterback? I highly doubt that but I guess it would be worth a try.

Read the first few explanations of contracts for Rodgers, Wilson, Carr, Murray, and Stafford, including earliest outs and dead money. Love Dak or hate him, love Jerry or hate him, I think you’ll appreciate just how good Dak’s contract is compared to other QBs. Most of those teams have no options at all and are stuck with QBs, no matter how bad things get. The Cowboys are likely to extend Dak soon because they believe in him, but his contract is very team friendly and has a really easy out.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/st...ack-contract-details-need-know-2023-offseason

Unrelated side-note, I was surprised by former QB Tim Hasselbeck’s list of NFC QB’s he trusts most to win an NFC playoff game. He had Dak at number 2.

This was explained many times to the Dak hating trolls, but like always they keep playing stupid.

Once again, as with EVERYTHING relating to Dak they have been proven dead wrong. Thanks for the info.

Depends. If they lose I won’t until next year. Who wants to see losers like you gloating about the Cowboys losing?
Fans like me?

You mean the ones that show up win or lose? Those kinda fans? The kind of fan you're clearly, and admittingly, not?

LOL. I love how you post this. Yet completely ignored the thread where the team as a whole since Dak has been back in ranked first in pretty much every single offensive statistic. Gotta love it.
Oh I Love how the Carson Wentz, Andy Dalton and Cooper Rush pom pom squad are experts on Prescott's play and pay.....:muttley:

They LOST.....now they are Capologists...

Remember when the Goalpost stood at....

"You can't build a Winning Team with a QB Market Value contract at $40M per season"

Dak Haters are cheap with Billionaires $$ :lmao2:

Regardless of people view on Dak his contract is in line with the NFL and QB around the league. Is it too much? yes QB pay is too much across the NFL. To put that on Dak is beyond ridicules

Agree but that's the same argument as stating the QB isn't the difference maker to the team

Tom Brady doesn't win any SB's without his teams he has had around him. He was basically Jimmy G on the first 3 SBs he won.
