Glad some of yous finally see the light....and the truth, about this sucker. I never felt he was the answer and this just confirms it for me. Not that i needed it. I am shocked he at least came out and said it for those here who thought he was the best thing since sliced bread.

That's actually the most likely win-win scenario for everyone. He can hitch a ride on the last leg of a playoff run and rebuild some confidence in his knee both from his side and the teams' sides. Become a free agent that signs for $12+ million/year in the offseason for one final payday and the team that rented him for a few weeks gets a comp pick.

There's a ton of emotion to hate the guy and not want to see how it can work for him too but I agree with this. This was probably his plan after last season but he got hurt in the Super Bowl.

The teams that have true success these days are the teams whose highest paid and most talented players are also the hardest working and most prepared. They set the tone that everyone else must follow. Guys like OBJ are the opposite of that. They set the tone of entitlement. They talk about turning the switch whenever they want. This team has been sick with this culture for 2 decades. It was so bad that even JAGs like Xavier Woods would spout nonsense. Everson Griffen scoffed at the notion of playing hard all the time. Every now and then we purge a bunch of these clowns and it seems to pay dividends. Lets all hope that moron Jerry doesn't ruin it all like he always does.

why? The guy says one thing, but the reality is he simply can not play physically. If he could, hed have no problem playing int he regular season, but for his own reasons he just cant admit to that.

He said one thing that caught my attention as well. "I have played football a long time." This is a guy who thinks because he's done it his whole life that he can just pick up where he left off. He is relying on his athleticism (whether still there or not) instead of putting in the work.

Unfortunately and I hate to say this because I loved him. Dez was the same way. He relied so much on just being stronger and more physical than anyone else that he didnt hone his craft until it was too late. I think it was his last season he started working with the route running guru that the rest of the guys in the NFL used all their careers. I also hate that Garrett underutilized Dez and just had him running go routes his entire career when he was a YAC monster. His best year was 2014 when Romo was moving him all over the field. Anyways beside the point. You need to continue to work every day. Period. Regardless of your gifts or how long you have played the game. Just my opinion.

If he doesn’t see the point of playing in the regular season and is just looking to play in the playoffs I’ll be very surprised if anyone signs him. He likely won’t be healthy for the playoffs. He’s just trying to lure someone in to signing him. He’s completely full of himself. I’ve never heard of any team signing a player just for the playoffs. Good luck having a receiver build some chemistry with a QB in a few practices leading up to a playoff game. What he’s saying is almost laughable.

I mean if he physically can’t play without restriction in the regular season why push to play a week 17/18 game? If his timeline indicates he won’t be 100% until playoffs, it’s obvious as to why he wouldn’t want to push it in the regular season.

For us, we want odell as the missing piece to a SB run. But for him he has the back end of his career to think about. If not playing until January is beneficial for the stability of his career in his last 3-4 years then this isn’t an outlandish thought. Just a bit harsh to hear.

Even if we did manage to sign the guy, i would have liked to have the necessary escape clauses and opt outs.
Pretty sure it would have to suitable to CBA and players associates.

But I already had very high doubts and skepticism about both his ability and available coming off ACL surgery.
It takes a tough road to get back into playing mode and form.
Gallup is just now showing surfaces signs but he's still not fully 100% of his previous form.

But at least he's had games to work himself back .. OBJ has had zero work-back workings.
And on top of that, he won't a physical work out much less saying it's not necessary to play per regular season ?

It’s also hard to know without seeing what a contract would look like. If he’s a 3 year 24M guy with heavy incentives and injury clauses then having him as a WR3 is for the next few years is fine by me because even if he can’t be the guy he was the contract could allow us to get out without much penalty.

But if he’s laced with guarantees then it could be problematic. I think the biggest issue is how much uncertainty we have with his contract and injury.

I wouldn't say "lose-lose". The probability of your first scenario happening is pretty high. The probability of your second scenario happening is very low. Therefore, it's a win-win.

Injuries changed the trajectory of his career, I never liked his attitude but if you perform it gets overlooked .
