With an offensive play caller putting up major points. A QB putting up major points. An offense playing well.

Worst case scenario...we AT LEAST have a chance to outscore a team if Defense is hurting due to injuries.

YES...WE ALL KNOW...that playoffs are harder on all teams as teams tighten things up. Nothing is guaranteed.

Bottom line is...NO ONE KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN THIS YEAR IN PLAYOFFS
 
The Cowboys can beat any team they might play in the first round. That is all you can ask for. The only team the Cowboys would be underdogs against is at San Francisco.
 
Considering most of us declared the season over after week one, I don’t see how anyone can say for sure that we can’t turn it around come playoff time.

Anything can happen. The Bengals weren’t the second best team in the league last year, and the Rams weren’t the first.

Hot at the right time. Luck. Ref call. Bounce of ball. Inches on a spot, etc…..

Many teams aren’t capable of getting into a position where those factors matter. We are. There’s a chance.

I agree, we don't have to be the best team, we just have to be the luckiest...It's a bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it pays off!

It will be interesting if they can get the team stronger going into the playoffs.

Not hoping beyond hope that it WILL happen is just a defense mechanism against the likely disappointment. Wouldn’t make me personally feel any better so I remain in denial until we have that very painful loss, then proceed to moan about Jerry and his kid lol.

We aren’t the best team, or even a great team, but in todays league there’s a shot. Things truly CAN turn on a dime, and are determined by one or two plays.

More than anything, I’m worried about the depth on defense, because we may just slide into the ‘not good enough’ category if certain things aren’t rectified.

The NFC playoff standings --- in reverse order:

SEA & DET both 7-7..... not in
WAS 7-5-1 ....not in
NYG 8-6-1 ....not in
DAL 10-4 = your thread title.
The Cowboys' goal is to win one more game to close out the regular season so that they secure the 5th seed playoff berth = to going on the road to play the NFC South division winner.

Lets see,

before a game was played this season this place stated we at best would be 7-10 because we had a terrible offseason, one of the worst in history,

then,
game 1 we lose ugly to the Bucs and Dak goes down....

Que the doom and gloomers to pounce again...

this place said no way we could even win 4 games with Rush as a backup, no #1 wr, everyone sux and its OVER and stated the rumor Jerry was organically tanking by not restocking talent.

even some said the draft had 73 as a project and others taken were suspect and overrated. reach ios the word we heard A LOT!!!


Odd not one of those things held true.....

Now we have Fans doing it again, saying we can not win a playoff game, its over saying we are supposed to have an endless amount of depth to cover up so many injuries at the same positions?

sure count us out, its worked great so far .

10-4 maybe a 12 win season B2B playoff berths , yes please

everyone talk like its over.
 
IN PLAYOFFS PAST: a 7 win Seattle team knocked off a loaded Saints squad, a 9-7 Giants team won the Super Bowl against a Patriots dynasty, and the Eagles rolled to a title with a backup QB they traded away years earlier.

Delusional maybe, but look at this Cowboys team's talent and ask why can't something magical happen in spite of the recent issues?

It's not over yet, I have seen this time and time again until something changes they will choke its their history for 25+

You seem miserable to be around lol. No one knows what well happen this year.

Best way to predict the future is base it on the past...Ill give you that. But to just marinate in negativity seems miserable. Cowboys actually have a talented football team, we are just getting bit by the injury bug a little
 
Absolutely anything is possible we could run the table.
The problem is our track record is a propensity for nose diving right at the end underachieving finding a way to lose and generally disappointing the fan base.

We all have hope but hope is not a game plan we would like to see preparation to succeed rather than the earmarks of failure showing themselves more glaringly week by week.

Just a little something to inspire some confidence.

And that little something would be beating the living daylights out of those rotten lousy eagles on Christmas Eve.

How could that not cover a multitude of sins and make everybody feel a thousand percent better.

I think it would be the magic confidence builder let's hope it happens.
