Does anyone else think. different and better coaching could help Dak
Step 1 is STOP seeing him as something other than a game manager! I would not call that better coaching...I would call it a change in philosophy.

I am no Dak Lover or Hater. Many of us here have long known who Dak is and who he is not. Had the people that are paid to know these things (front office/coaches) known this...the situation with Dak would have NEVER gotten to 40m. Jerry expects people to play to their paycheck. But that is not how this always works. If that were the case...the Cowboys would not be the highest valued franchise in the history of sports...without having played in a conference championship since 1995!

If you want to give this team a chance the next 2 years. Forget what Dak is making..and commit to surrounding him with the pieces to push us to the next level. We were the 3rd best team in the NFC all year....and that is EXACTLY how the season finished. BUILD FROM THERE!!! Do what you can to try and catch the 49ers/Eagles....or some other team (Lions?) is going to pass you by.

The 49ers beat us last year and have gotten better. The Eagles were behind us last year...IMPROVED and have now passed us. Do you job Dallas front office!

Nick Foles, Joe Flacco, Russell Wilson, Trent Dilfer, Peyton Manning his last years in Denver...all won Super Bowls. You can win with Dak...but it is going to require more than paying him a lot of money. And quite frankly, you can't cut him, so a MAJOR change is needed.

I absolutely think Kellen Moore and that JG based offense need to go. Interview a bunch of OCs who have the best offense and plan for Dak and see if he can improve. If he doesn't, let him walk in two years. But keeping Moore and that JG offense is just status quo. Another 12-5 year and first round exit.

Nope. Year 7 and this is who he is. Not like Jerry was never warned of this. His rookie year was an aberration that was largely a result of a stout offensive line and a running game. Shanahan or Reid might be able to mask some of his short comings but they can't fix the inability to read defenses and get the ball out in a timely manner. Plus, Reid already had a QB much like Dak in Philly and all he managed with that guy was a SB loss.

:hammer:

If the divisional round is your goal keep Moore.

All a coaching change accomplishes is creating a new scapegoat.

Mike McCarthy is proven in this league. Kellen Moore is a younger mind, and while he drives me crazy sometimes I think KM has quietly had a solid year as OC. Doug Nussmeier has a heck of a good history with QB development going back to Marc Bulger.

At some point players have to make plays. While I don't love everything that KM has to offer this offense plays have been there, including this past game.

Dak still has to make plays as a QB that appears in the post season from time to time. The Cowboys need to build the team from inside out to help compensate for the marginal performance Dak is capable of providing. The more time he has to process plays from the pocket the better he will be, and by the way, the better the running game will be, hence setting up even more opportunities with play action.

Dak also needs to be brought down to earth by not taking so much liberty with the play calling. He is not elite and needs to pay that way.

No, our coaching is fine or enough. It’s more about surrounding him with a star studded cast.

An elite coach like McVay or Shanahan likely could. That said the owner with the enormous ego will never hire a coach that will get the credit.

Yes.
Dak was better when Kitna was his QB coach. Coaching matters.
That being said Dak does still have many of the same traits that are listed in his NFL draft profile (do a search for "dak prescott nfl draft profile", and you'll see)

You put him on SF, KC, Cincy or the Eagles this season and none of them are in the final 4. (ok, there is a super slim chance he might get by on SF or Philly due to their run game but its only best case scenario thinking)

He is simply limited and yeah you can put some different makeup on him but at the end of the day the shortcomings are still going to be there and they are going to be magnified whenever he needs to do something besides be carried by those around him.

Average Qb garrapolos 6million salary allows the Niners to put pro bowlers all around him….

Average Qb Prescotts 40 million salary doesn’t allow the Boys to put pro Bowlers all around him

Prescotts 160 million salary is supposed to mean that HE’’S the elite player……not a turnover machine.

we can get Landry, Lombardi, Shula and this dude would still be a failure in the playoffs
