CBS Sports picks apart Jerry's comments on Eagles

They do this every year. They know they won't do dick in FA so as soon as the season ends, he and his doofus son start making the media rounds and talk about the right way to build, why their players still under contract are good and don't need replacing (Elliott, cough, cough). They are basically telling you they ain't gonna change a lick. Expect bargain bin crap in FA again, hoping they find more Kearse's than Carroll's, and the promise they will dazzle us in the draft filling all our needs and it will make Dak better, the team will be better, etc.

We'll repeat this exercise in Jan/Feb 2024.

This why Jerry should stay out the media but he won't. They're talking about him so they like it.

This is why I laugh when people complain about Dak and Zeke's contracts....what on earth are they going to do with that money? Not spend it in free agency. If they would just sign one or two impact guys with the way they handle free agency that would be enough. Its some guys who don't even get big deals but its like they don't even approach those type of players....There is nothing out there that says you can't sign a Kearse AND go get a playmaker. Just very flawed and I don't know why. They act like they've been burnt by free agency or trades. Cooper deal wasn't a bad deal for them. Carr deal wasn't terrible. I just don't know why they've changed and all I Can do is blame Stephen.....

Why even listen to what any of the front office says?

It's always smoke.
That's why I don't get to up in arms about it. Not only do I not listen to it but I wouldn't believe it. If they came out right now and said they will draft a QB next year its a smoke screen. They are never honest about their approach.

No, it's not always smoke. They tend to be more honest than most when it comes to FA, roster building. What Jerry and Stephen have said this last week pretty much jive with what they have done previous offseasons. They aren't running a smoke screen here. They are pretty much warning/telling the fans that they will once again do jack squat in FA, that what they have is a SB contending team and their improvement will come from the draft.

If people are sitting there, like yourself and TheMarathonContinues, thinking that they are lying and that this is the year they finally bring in a legit stud or two in FA/trade like a big time DT or WR, woo boy, someone is ignoring history here. But man, I hope you guys are right.

Time and time again people get sucked in. Nothing has or will ever change. I'm still hopeful they feild a better team, but no need purposely working yourself up into a frenzy over the ownership.

Ultimately, the Eagles did it way better than the Rams did it. They will be judged on how they are able to a) finish this season. Super Bowl W and they were absolutely correct. Loss and then go lose a bunch of key players because they can't afford them....nice try but fail.

No one could have predicted they would have a golden ticket into the super bowl like they got. I doubt anyone would argue that if we faced the DJ and Practice Squad weapons of the Gmen at home we would win that game and if we then were to face the literally unable to throw 49ers...we would have won that game too.

Kudos for them but it really comes down the the Super Bowl and what happens this offseason as to whether they are right or not.

Rinse and Repeat...

They were already basically proven right. They made two SBs 5 years apart in which they tore down basically the 2017 team and rebuilt quickly and still have a lot of draft fire power over the next two years. The whining over who they played is weird because they rebuilt a roster strong enough to go out there and win more games than anyone and get themselves that #1 seed and easier path to the SB. They were better than us and everyone else in the NFC over the full season. Their reward was an easier path than other teams. Maybe if Jerry and his dopey son employed some of the stuff the Eagles do in roster building, we would have won the #1 seed and had that easy path.

You really struggle with admitting reality here. They have done a significant better job at roster building/management than we have over the last 5-6 seasons.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda.

I’ll deal with the real world and what actually happened.
