Jalen Has much he can do. Its way premature to call him a bust. Lets see what he does year 2. Then 3. U just never know. Sometimes the light comes on when we least expect it. Look at Dalton Schultz. I think it was year 3 or 4 with him. Then he went nuts. NOBODY expected it. We need patience with him.
Dalton Schultz was drafted in the 4th round. By the time he bloomed 4 years later, he's already hitting free agency. How did that help the Cowboys? Another team is going to reap the benefits of us developing Schultz. I see Tolbert going down the same road if he develops and shines late for 1 year. The problem is the Cowboys using costly draft picks for players who clearly need years of time to develop. Cowboys are developing those types only to see them flourish elsewhere for another team.

Forget the 3 year doctrine. Year One B's!
He did make the Pro Bowl, although that vote was counted before a few mistakes.

Some of you guys...
I'm glad you're not my boss. Insanely harsh when put up to the rest of the competition.
I don't even think most of you look at the rest of the competition in detail.
Come on he had 2 catches for 12 yards.

And there wasn't much competition behind Lamb.

I'm sure Tolbert is sincere in wanting to improve.

Which means everything or nothing or something small.

You don’t give up on a third round pick after one year. Yes he was a disappointment this year. But let’s see how he does this training camp and pre-season. I expect some growth and development. He deserves that opportunity.

And so the fluff commences…
Yeah but…

In 1992, the Cowboys drafted a WR in round two with high hopes. He got hurt his rookie year, then was somewhat disappointingly slow to develop. He never caught a pass for us and was cut after two seasons.

That guy‘s name was Jimmy Smith. He got picked up by the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars and went on to catch 862 passes for 12,287 yards and 67 TDs. He was a two time All Pro and made the pro bowl 5 straight seasons.

In other words, don’t give up on a guy too early.

I listened to his interview, and parts of it tell me he's not hungry enough. Maybe he got humbled by the vets after coming in too strong. Who knows? I would just like to see him take the next step. I hope he puts in the work to get there.

I expected big things from Tolbert when we drafted him. Now I'm not so sure.

Kind of hard to have faith in the guy if they couldn’t find any way for him to see the field.

Especially in a year we have no WR depth

Jimmy Smith broke his leg as a rookie in the Blue vs. White scrimmage.
In his second season he was the leading WR in the pre-season before
experiencing abdominal pain. Ended up being appendicitis.

He was not slow to develop. He was recovering from surgery.
I think he weighed 140 lbs.
Got lost in the numbers game but did get two SB rings with Dallas.

He was great in Jacksonville.

You're slipping, Bob.

Very true Bob.

I remember wishing we never gave up on him so early.

Another one, to a lesser extent was Mike Sherrard. I remember him breaking his leg, then when healthy, breaking it again while running in sand. (if my memory is correct) He turned into a pretty good receiver, but I think injuries always plagued him

I always felt bad for Mike, thought he had the talent to be a very good player.

This kid may benefit more from MM taking over the offense ( WCO ) than any other offensive player. Remember MM made a living in Green Bay with 2nd and 3rd round WRs. He may be a better WCO Wrs than Gallup. In fact, and this is just me but I'm not using a 1st on WR. I think this kid and vet free agent will do fine.

I can't call any Dallas player a bust, when the team culture is busted. Once they leave the busted culture and cannot perform, they become busts.
