You don’t give up on a third round pick after one year. Yes he was a disappointment this year. But let’s see how he does this training camp and pre-season. I expect some growth and development. He deserves that opportunity.

Everyone is spoiled these days because a lot of our draft picks play early and often. I remember when we didn’t draft well and none of them could get on the field. Hopefully this season we see it. Sometimes a player just wakes up.

Not every rookie comes out and has a good first year. It's tough in todays NFL because 4 years goes quick and the expectations go up. But him making that jump would be a nice surprise in 23.

This draft, any look at WRs should be targeting speed and big play ability, not just height.

If they were teaching him multiple positions, then they were prepping him for next year.

If they really wanted him to contribute in 2022, they would have made it as simple as possible for him. i.e. One position.

Why do they have to tell us what they're going to do? Do it and then tell us how you did it. I think most assume that would be a motivation for a disappointing rookie performance. No need to share it, just work toward that.

Thats not true just yet. BUT we can cover our ***** and draft a guy.

I'm hopeful for both him and Dennis Houston. But I also hope that the Joneses look at the fact that they had to bring in TY Hilton because our receivers weren't good enough and do more than just hope these two improve. If they do, that just should be considered gravy. Turpin might be another who McCarthy could better utilize, and Gallup should be better a year removed from his injury.

What I don't want to see is Dallas playing Noah Brown as one of its top three receivers at any point next year. If the team has to do that, then that should be the point where they realize their receiver plans have failed and do whatever it takes to get someone better. And I'm not saying that because I don't like Brown. He's carved out a decent niche for his draft status. He's just not a player as a receiver that the defense considers a threat, so he does nothing to draw coverage from the other receivers because teams know he can't consistently beat single coverage.

I don't think Wright can fix what's broken. He just doesn't have the ability to get in and out of breaks with receivers quickly.

I think we have a better chance of the lightbulb going on with Joseph, who has the physical skills to be a top cornerback but lacks the football IQ. If we can get him to understand his responsibility when he's out there (and not line up outside when he has not defender to his inside or not jump a route when he has no help behind him), he could be pretty good. At least he's good on special teams right now, when he's not making boneheaded mistakes, so that gives him some value.

Wright's OK on special teams (nothing special) but I don't think he can change himself physically to be able to flip his hips faster or not be handicapped by his length, so I don't think he'll make it out of the preseason when he'll likely get roasted again.

Dalton Schultz was drafted in the 4th round. By the time he bloomed 4 years later, he's already hitting free agency. How did that help the Cowboys? Another team is going to reap the benefits of us developing Schultz. I see Tolbert going down the same road if he develops and shines late for 1 year. The problem is the Cowboys using costly draft picks for players who clearly need years of time to develop. Cowboys are developing those types only to see them flourish elsewhere for another team.

He was a fourth round draft pick. 90% of fourth round draft picks take a year or two to develop. If he was a sure fire, can’t miss prospect he would have been drafted in the first round.

And he had a really good year, year 3. So it didn’t take him 4 years to develop.

Jalen Has much he can do. Its way premature to call him a bust. Lets see what he does year 2. Then 3. U just never know. Sometimes the light comes on when we least expect it. Look at Dalton Schultz. I think it was year 3 or 4 with him. Then he went nuts. NOBODY expected it. We need patience with him.

They used to say it takes a WR 3 years to really grasp the NFL. However some now are prepared from college and come in right away. But it takes good coaching in college also.
Toblert came from a smaller school, probably lesser coaching as well. He could be one of those 3 years guys.

He will be one to watch his progress in year 2, and see the difference in TC.

Did the the quality of competition in the Sunbelt Conference inflate his ability to the Cowboys scouting dept/FO...or is Tolbert a true talent that can be a good WR in the NFL with coaching and dedication to improve?
Him -- along with Simi Fehoko -- really need to step up and contribute.

but i'm definitely not waiting for him .let him compete with whatever WR we get in the 2nd or 3rd rd. if we choose to go that path vs an OBJ signing.

i'm hoping to add at least 2 new WR additions to this roster .. Cowboys not giving up on him this quicly, but i assume they are not gonna bypass WR for the sake of Tolbert.

I liked the pick too and think most did. I don’t think his issues was due to not having the talent. Hopefully he puts in the work needed to earn snaps. I think it’s all on him because the talent is there

You can’t give up on him yet but you can’t depend on him either. I build the position where what I get from him is just extra and hope he develops enough to put someone else on the bench
