If they cut Tyron and Steele not ready until mid-season then who plays RT?

Cutting Tyron saves 13.6M (Savings split between 2023 and 2024).

They need an answer before the draft to avoid forcing a pick at OT.
  • Matt Waletzko
  • Jason Peters
  • Josh Ball
  • Aviante Collins
  • Isaac Alarcón G/T
  • Alex Taylor
I think they keep Tyron 1 more year, but this thread is about the scenario where they cut him.

Ive seen it mentioned that Steele's injury were clean tears and that he should be ready for the season

I don't care about telegraphing the pick go get that OT in the 1st round if you have too. It would be great if the investment in previous OTs (Ball/Waletzko) showed some return. At some point, they need to play these unproven OTs...sink or swim. I'm for drafting a OT because Tyler Smith has versatility to move inside once Steele is healthy.

Yes, If we can get a top top 5 tackle in the draft, and also go to FA and get a DT like Da"Ron Payne who is only 28 and has a reasonable market value. He had a pretty decent year in 2022 with more than 60 tackles. I dont know Phillys situation but would be nice to steal Javon Hargrave..:flagwave:

Being franchised by Washington

If you draft him, they have no reason to keep Steele!
Not necessarily, but they would have contract leverage in the future. Wright at the top of my draft wish list atm.

What do you mean, "to avoid forcing a pick for OT"? That should be a top priority.
Drafting a tackle or signing one should be a priority. But I think the OP means you should never be in a position where you HAVE to draft a certain position high.
As @HungryLion said, avoid being forced to draft a specific position in the 1st round.

What if 5 OTs get drafted before #26 but no CBs.
- That would mean choosing between the #6 OT or #1 CB.

Picking purely based on need is the top reason that teams fail in the draft.

2023 is the final year of Tyron's contract ( last pymt of $97M) 2024 is void. In fact, if they can't work something out with Dak to get his cap number down, they may extend Tyron another year and make him LT/RT swing for the next couple of years.

But Jerry will not cut him, Walker, he's a Cowboy treasure, institution, and future HOFer. Now it's very possible Jerry won't offer him another contract once his current one expires ( like Emmitt ) at the end of 2023 but he won't cut him. Just not him.....

And Steele is not under contract.
