Why would we extend him. He has never led us to the promised land. He wins the big show next year I'd rethink the extension for sure. Right now his career is far worse then Joe Flacco and Flacco is a bum who is lucky to be a backup anywhere in the league.

I’m no Dak apologist, just providing an honest assessment of our situation. It’s a fact he’s better than what most teams have the position, which is why he’s been our QB since 2016. You have idiots on this board that would rather go with a washed up Matt Ryan or one of the castoffs that are bouncing around the league. Washington has been going through QB hell ever since they allowed Cousins to walk. Now they’re stuck with Jacoby Brissett. If it was up to fans on this board, we would be in the same sinking boat.
I have heard all these arguments before . . . except Dak was younger and there were still hopes He would improve

Well that is never gonna be a reality . .

Necessity is the Mother of Invention

Brady and Rodgers have changed teams since Dak has been here

We could have given him the non exclusive and recouped some pics

Recouping some picks for him doesn’t guarantee we’re going to find a better QB. We can’t move on from him until we do. By the way Aaron Rodgers hasn’t officially been traded yet.

More than likely next offseason if he plays well. After all the restructures his cap hit is nearly 60 million with another dead cap of 36 million the during the 2 dummy years.

Ya, pretty pathetic and they call themselves Cowboy fans?
How the heck do you place a single player over the well-being of the entire franchise you proclaim to be a fan of?
Guess they like those egg-laying playoff games and beating up on dog teams.
Most of us don't do it because we are Dak lovers....we argue the point because we're sick of the same crap that keeps getting spewed around here. I agree that Dak needs to step up or step out, I just HATE the constant negativity
.....it's really set the forum back. IMO

Yes. The cowboys are going to let Dak hit 60M against the cap next season

Lololol. Not a chance in hell. We are stuck. Accept it and move on.

Less than 0% chance he isn’t extended
Dallas would be foolish to extend Dak!

Dak over Dallas is in full effect hysteria mode with their extremist cult.
It's all in the name of their "plan." That plan being to stick with Jerry's way of relevance and regular season glory at best.
Regardless if a draftee, free agent or trade acquisition could do the exact same job at a fraction of the cost, your plan can not include not sticking with what's clearly been working these last 7 years, lol.

So in other words, stay the course.
The ultimate we like our guys proclamation of status quo and relevance at the most important position.
SleepNumber stock must have taken a hit maybe I dunno.

But most importantly,
win regular season games and be satisfied regardless.
I mean if one of your employees no longer offered any further potential for improvement at their job aren't you just gonna blindly stick with them and pay them? And pay them raises even?

That's the thought process.
That's the plan.

I agree we can't move on from him, but we should be drafting a QB in some round every year from now on, much like the Patriots did when Brady was there. They ended up hitting on Garrapolo which they got a 2nd round pick for, which they leveraged for more picks.

Of course, we're not competent, but that strategy is sound because you never know. In, fact, it's negligence if we don't.

You can’t draft a QB every year they’ll never get an opportunity with only three preseason games. You’ll end up having to move on from one before they’ve been given a chance and they could develop somewhere else. We need to draft one every couple of years. The first step is to find one who can become the backup.

If you think Dak and Jalen Hurts are average QBs, then you must think 95% of the QBs in the NFL are average. Stop avoiding the question, what would you do at QB that would give the Cowboys a better chance at winning a SB than they have with Dak? You’re obviously one of those fans who think QBs like Mahomes grow on trees. Just dump the QB you have and go get a QB like him as if that’s going to be easy. Lol
You do what any other team does that doesn't have a QB. No one ever claimed it was easy to find a good QB. But you don't have to settle for a QB that is good but can't win you a championship unless you're an owner that doesn't care. They care about wins and making money. Obviously some fans are ok with that too.

It can happen. Seattle did it with a young Russel Wilson because of their great defense. He wasn't all that great at the time. So it is possible. And BTW, Jalen Hurts passes against all run defenses. Once he has to pass against coverage, you'll once again see the 2021 Jalen Hurts. It amazes me that people that watch the game can't see this.

I don't need to see 8 years of a player before I know who he really is.

I hope he's so bad that Jerry can't justify putting him on the field again.

I used to be like that with the "let's just hope for better next year" when it comes to Dak, but now I'm past that to the point of just hoping it's so much of a disaster that it embarrasses even Jerry.
Here's the deal, and it isn't complicated. Our defense has to step up. We're not winning a championship on our offense. We can't score on good defenses so our defense is going to have to make up the difference. Sort of like when Cooper Rush won those games. Our defense was playing off the charts.

We have a QB that’s good and better than most teams have. Sometimes you have to settle for a good QB that’s giving you a chance until something better comes along. It’s not going to be easy finding a better QB than Dak. The Cowboys may select a QB in this draft. There’s always a chance you could get lucky. No one who knows football is calling Jalen Hurts an average QB. He was in the MVP race and led his team to the Super Bowl. If you want to know what an average QB is go look at what they have with the Jets, Panthers, Washington and several other teams.

Cooper Rush also wasn't turning the ball over at a ridiculous pace.

You give this team the 01 Ravens defense and Dak Prescott finds a way to fail because at some point he will need to make a play and he won't.
