The Raiders have taken Jalen Carter off their board

Hes the only player I'd move up for tbh. How far? Not sure, gotta look at the draft day trade chart .
Didn't the saints give up a future 1 to go get Marcus davenport at 14 from 29??
2 first and a 5th from 27. For a bust. Another dumb decision by Payton!

He's got some serious issues if the Raiders are taking him off their board...

I get that he's a good player. I just smell some issues with his dedication and attitude, and I don't believe he'd be a good fit, likely for the same reason the Raiders believe that.

Also, no way I'd give up picks to move up to get him.

I'm with you. Maybe a 5th round pick would be a good place to draft him. That way, if his issues are severe, it wouldn't cost much.

I'd rather draft high character guys that are good players.
Does he really have bad character because of one single incident?

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but the only issue I have heard of is that he was street racing, the car he was racing against hit a curb and flipped and killed them, and Carter freaked out and left the scene and returned later and was not exactly truthful with the police.

Yeah, it is a horrible accident, but according to the indictment Carter got charged with two misdemeanors for speeding and street racing, not for manslaughter or anything like that.

Should he have been racing or speeding? No, but I cant really be the one to throw stones because when I was younger (before I had kids), I used to drive fast, really fast. Like doing 95 on a toll way regularly.............I never got a ticket because the Police hardly ever patrolled the toll ways back then and they could stop more people who drove fast on the regular roads who didnt want to pay the tolls, but still drove fast.

Did sometimes me and another car both speed at the same time and even though we technically were not racing, neither one of us wanted to get passed by the other so we both would keep going faster and faster? Yeah, that might have happened, maybe.

So, I cant really sit here today and blast Carter as having bad character and is a horrible player and teammate and take him off my draft board when I did things very similar to what he did, the only difference is that I never had an accident, even though thinking back now I see how stupid it was but I was young, single, and didnt have kids back then so I didnt really care. I imagine Carer was thinking the same thing the night of his accident.

I think this is a very good point. I just wonder if they're worried about any criminal charges that are coming. If there are none, then I could see us taking him.

There have been other incidents; not publicized but the teams find out about such things.

Several draft sights have hinted about them; usually if there is enough smoke there is fire.

Fur sure, and there seems to be plenty of smoke if the Raiders of all teams are taking someone off their board.

Would you take Henry Rugs?

Carter is dynamic and worth the risk. But there are enough red flags to ask questions. For me the biggest red flag was how unprepared he was for his pro day. That to me was unacceptable. Looked awful. The biggest audition in your young career and that’s how you approached it ?

Just think if you were 21 years old and you were involved in the deaths of 2 of your friends.

Rugs decided to drink and drive and he rear ended another car at 156 mph according to police reports, the 23 yr old woman in the car burned to death as the car was engulfed in flames. His blood alcohol was twice the legal limit in Nevada.

Ruggs is facing up to 26 yrs in prison after being charged with DUI resulting in death.

^^^^^But what does this have to do with Carter and the draft? This incident happened after Rugs was drafted by the Raiders, he was already in the NFL when this happened^^^^^^

Jalen Carter could get his charges enhanced. Two people died in an incident where he was apparently drinking. The Cowboys draft him, and the media circus will begin... and the pressure from the media could cause the department to enhance his charges, imo.

This body cam footage is damning. Now I see why he's worried. And why teams are taking him off their boards. He won't be drafted in the first round.. He's going to fall because his future is so uncertain.

Not to mention, this just looks terrible.

Let's face it, the only issue was the pro day. No one cares about drag racing. And his pro day issue may be a direct result of the incident. I don't think he makes it past the Eagles.

It turns out he wasn't drinking, so that's good. Still, I think this only starts to pick up steam as we near the draft. He may end up untouchable, in the first. And, of course, the Cowboys would take him there.

Think of what we're talking about here. If it's not a drug issue, there is no issue. Drag racing in general wouldn't hurt his draft stock. The pro day will. Or could. I still think he goes top 10.

Dan Campbell being so vague is a flag too imo.

Carter has all the talent to be an all-pro DT. Crazy that this offseason with some poor off the field choices may be tanking his stock
The problem is that no one really paid attention to the other poor choices he might have made in years he was not a top draft pick.

If he made some boneheaded decisions in a year where people are scrutinizing him before handing him millions, stands to reason he’s made some other dumb decisions.
