...Cooks brings a lot to the table for the Cowboys to like. He has been a mentor to the younger players on the roster as he prepares for his 10th season as a professional. With six 1,000-yard seasons under his belt, Dallas knows it is getting a productive player as well. So far so good when it comes to the relationship between Cooks and his new quarterback, Dak Prescott. The first impression was a positive one as Prescott believes Cooks will have a major impact on the Cowboys this upcoming season.

“The moment that guy showed up, just watching him in workouts and how he carries himself from drill-to-drill, what he does pre-workout and post-workout to take care of his body to have that speed,” Prescott said, via the team’s website. “When you throw it to him, it stands out, his speed is different from many others. He’s already been helping CeeDee, helping the young guys, playing cornerback to teach them the little nuances of route-running. It’s gonna be huge for me and huge for the room.” Cooks is a huge upgrade on what the team deployed alongside Lamb last season. Everyone can settle into roles they are better suited for as Gallup becomes the No. 3 option and should be more comfortable with a full offseason to work after spending the 2022 summer rehabbing a knee injury.

With experience as a No. 1 option, Cooks will provide Dallas with great insurance behind Lamb as teams will no longer be able to load up their coverage against him. Cooks is more than capable of taking advantage if the defense loses track of him, providing the Cowboys with a big play waiting to happen in their passing offense...

For first-round pick Mazi Smith, there isn't an expectation of starting immediately, as he's more focused on doing what he can do to be the best defensive tackle that he can be for the team.
"I don't expect anything," Smith said when asked if he expected to start. "I'm here to mind my business as a player and be the best nose and D-tackle that the Cowboys could have.
Smith's communication with defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has continued to grow since draft night as the two have a plan in place to maximize his already developed ability while growing in other areas
"A lot of people talk about my pass-rush from college, but I never had a pass-rush plan," Smith said. "We're gonna get a plan and see what I can do. I was a run-stopper [at Michigan], and if we were gonna win a game, I was gonna have to stop the run. That's what I was focused on and that's what I'm still focused on."

Fourth-round pick Viliami Fehoko Jr. says that he's already up to 280 pounds and is working to add 5-10 more before training camp to give Dan Quinn the positional versatility he's looking for out of the San Jose State product.
"Hit the ground running first year," Fehoko said about what's expected. "I think I'll probably play between the EDGE and three-technique so it's a little different from college. But I think [Quinn] expects me to hit the ground running pretty hard this year.

Rookie minicamp will continue on Saturday as each of the 21 members of the rookie class continue to get settled into their new home in Dallas.

I'm one of the ones that liked the draft class this year. Please don't get me wrong here.

Its funny how Dallas has this formulaic approach to propaganda. Its a cycle every year where the team starts to get hyped after the draft. Hopefully this year its for real but every year around this time we just get a waterfall of hype press releases. Given that we are all fans at heart, we WANT to believe. By the time camp ends, all of the super bowl talk will be in full swing.

They aren’t even remotely the same type of player.

I imagine a post in the coming weeks could name any number of Cowboy legends and try to draw comparisons.

tap the breaks, i like the draft more then most but please dont put that type of comp and pressure on a player before he even gets his pads on for the first time. maybe lets call him the next leon Lett we can adjust later. LOL

I only skimmed the story but didn't see any mention of Randy..

its not coming from the Ranch ie now the star , Dallas doesn't own ESPN , Disney or the NFLN. this is how the media and league trat the cowboys..i e an you want hype, try the most primetime games again, that's brutal schedule but guess why??

the DC have nearly all the top ratings games every year., fan watch, hater watch, i mean they have been and seemingly always will be a big draw.

So he was 14th on their board but they had 3 or 4 guys they were considering? Sounds a little like BS to me or they didn't take their top ranked guy. Maybe the Guard was ranked higher on their board.

I'm happy to have Mazi and hope he can be the missing piece to the DL we have needed for so long. Playing Monday morning QB with the benefit of hindsight and taking cap (including future cap) and DL rotation into account, I wonder if it would have ended up being better to have draft the Guard if he was ranked higher than Maxi and to have instead signed another DT in free agency if let's say we could go back in time and get one of the guys that was already signed by another team. Again, only stating this if they had the Guard rated higher. I think for this year Maxi makes the bigger impact (at least until Tyron gets hurt) but wonder for the long run.

Personally I'm glad they took Mazi. I'm tired of our DL getting pushed around and "out physicalled" in the big games. I think if we can put teams in 3rd and long more often it will allow us to unleash our pass rush and get big plays and turnovers.
