They aren’t even remotely the same type of player.

I imagine a post in the coming weeks could name any number of Cowboy legends and try to draw comparisons.
It's much better to give a player a fair chance to prove himself before finding fault with him beforehand.

His intentions are admirable. It's a good start. Every draft pick deserves a fair shot to prove his worth.

I'm one of the ones that liked the draft class this year. Please don't get me wrong here.

Its funny how Dallas has this formulaic approach to propaganda. Its a cycle every year where the team starts to get hyped after the draft. Hopefully this year its for real but every year around this time we just get a waterfall of hype press releases. Given that we are all fans at heart, we WANT to believe. By the time camp ends, all of the super bowl talk will be in full swing.
If the information meets generalizations for achievement, then don't be pompous enough to deny that point of observation to render all previous achievement merely grounds for disapproval.

Don't say one is a fan and then not walk that road, first.

I saw a lot of teeth grinding when Martin was drafted, as well as when Smith was drafted. Those project very similar.

No, smart guys, asking whether this new Dallas player meets a type of COWBOY molds is VERY appropriate for initial projections.

Ask Jerry or the coaching staff if they do or do not approach development in a similar manner to get quality...and yea, top shelf players as well.

Perhaps getting honest and not ring tapping gives credit for being satisfied with what IS going to be 3 consecutive 12 win seasons in a row. Most of that DOES come from similarly worked for talent as in the past...

This isn't hype, but the facts!!!

Play around with an abstract topic if venting one's own frustrations instead of honestly discussing actual discussion of team status.

Ranching was talking with Randy one time, and Randy White told him fortunate to have met a Hispanic Lady in San Antonio. God really blessed him with her. She cooks all his meals; irons and keeps up all his clothes; and runs his household like no other. Gus asked him if it wouldn't be cheaper to hire a maid!

Randy White was and still is, a real person. These players are in the same mold and comparisons do give respect to their efforts.

The Cowboys ARE in the talk with Kansas City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Buffalo right now...don't ever tell another fan that evaluating present players to past greats is the pompous act of a fool!

Go Cowboys! :starspin:

No, he is not the next Randy White.
Really? Tell me how the ex-A&I defensive lineman walked on at Minnesota and later Randall entered the Hall. No one even paid attention to him at his start...

As Bill Parcells would say…

Put away the anointing oil.
Get real and not with stereotypes...He is at day two and has to earn his way just like every other rookie, no matter what.

Don't replace an open mind to watching base levels becoming fully strong at their position.

How did the cornerback position suddenly become strong? Through young talent being developed to a top shelf standard.

No, that is exactly how talent IS developed.

To say that isn't presently a potential, comes from a comment that never really developed talent at the professional levels and succeeded...I'll just keep my mind open and watch the show that is freely given me. Happily!

And by the way, were Randy and Bob Lilly either first drafted to be a linebacker?

31 posts and the OP has half of them.

Homer city
Oh, you judge content by addition...........which is why this doesn't count. I first judge on content and not my own self esteem...how boring.

As we all know, even with the Cowboys having one of the best defenses in football a season ago, the biggest problem was stopping the run.

Believe it or not, they did everything correctly this offseason, trying to improve it.

The resigned Johnathon Hankins to a one-year deal in March. The defensive tackle doesn't fill up the box score, but when Dallas traded for him, he brought exactly what was needed. A big body to plug up some running lanes.

The 'rooks' all got all their uni's dirty yesterday. This a similar attitude being displayed by yet a running back...

Cowboys rookie RB Deuce Vaughn on being overlooked throughout his career: “You get to college and guys kind of question and doubt your abilities because of your size. It just adds to the chip on my shoulder. That’s why I’m the hardest working guy that you’ll ever meet.”

'Tude is Up! Go Cowboys! :starspin:

In the article on him by the Athletic his dad tells him he's a wow player not a whoa player. They don't look at him and say "whoa, this guy has it." Instead, and due to his size he has to wow them with his skills and work ethic. He's taken that to heart. I don't believe he will be dismissed easily. Watching him train with Parsons is a great start, and you can count on him latching to the teams hardest workers.

No, he is not the next Randy White.
first off we dont know that but i get he shouldn't be comped with an all-time great like Randy yet..

However White wasn't even Randy manster white until his 3rd season.

Heck White was used a fullback his freshman year of college moved to DE and didn't blossom until his 3rd year , then drafted and moved to LB, played ST his first 2 seasons and once again didn't start being Randy until year 3 when they finally moved him AGAIN to DT.. that where he became the manster. i could imagine the zone calling him jag and bust and waste of draft pick when all the played was ST his first 2 seasons.. they would have burned him down in the zone LOL

so with all the belief he may have come in as blue-chip player and then right away paid divdends, HE DID NOT.. its why fans need to stop deeming guys busts or jags before they develop. Just because they don't right away doesn't mean they cant or wont.

Via NJ.com, Super Bowl winner Kelce recently was asked to talk about young tight ends who share his playing style. He didn't quite bite on that, but ...
“I don’t know if there are any that remind me of myself, but there are a few guys I’m excited about. Kyle Pitts (Falcons) being one of them. Ferguson down in Dallas and (Daniel) Bellinger over in New York.
"I’m excited to see how these guys manifest over the next few years and we’ll see where they can take their game.”

Jake Ferguson

This offseason, we see glimpses of the guy walking around with a big stick. The early talks during the draft cycle about Dallas targeting a tight end went in one ear and out the other.

That poise is a testament to his self-confidence.

In only one season, he has made a Pro Bowl player expendable, welcomed competition from someone drafted higher than him, and kept beaming.

That's a baller, which is partly what Travis Kelce was referring to.

I’ll wait until he actually puts something on film before I get too hyped about this guy.

Right now he’s nothing but a RAS player.
