Micah Parsons recently said he's moving to defensive end full time, but does Dallas have a good enough linebacking corps to afford him doing so? Besides Leighton Vander Esch, the others are going to be really young or have mainly been seen on special teams. On the other hand, the team has more depth at defensive end and are all pretty battle-tested. I don't know that I understand this move. – Josh Hanson/San Antonio

Nick Eatman:
I've gone back and forth on this one over the last few years, starting out with the idea that it's better for him to play a little bit of both, to keep the offenses guessing somewhat. Then again, the great pass-rushers seem to be a problem for all teams, no matter where they line up. I think I've changed my tune now to simply finding the ways to get him on the field - and keep him on the field - the longest. As a pass rusher, you have to take a few more plays off than you would as a linebacker. But still, it comes down to making him the most effective. And it doesn't matter who else is playing defensive end and who else is there at linebacker. This is all about Micah Parsons, because no one else is remotely close to his skill-set. So the Cowboys have to figure this out this year - how to get Parsons on the field and effective. If that means he's a full-time rusher, then put him there. But Dan Quinn and this defense has to also figure out ways to keep teams - the Eagles especially - from neutralizing him and making him a non-factor. Keeping him in the mix for the majority of the games, that's the role Parsons needs to play.

Nick Harris: If you look at how the defense lined up in 2022, it wouldn't be entirely different from what will happen if Parsons makes the full-time move to defensive end in 2023. Parsons lined up at defensive end on 80.5-percent of snaps in 2022, so increasing that number up into the high 90s wouldn't be as much of a shock to the defense as some would expect. However, you present a good point with the inexperience in the linebacker room. There's hope that one of Devin Harper, DeMarvion Overshown or Jabril Cox can prove to be a reliable option in the second level, but even if they can't, there is enough fluidity on the roster in the box that can allow for some positional versatility between the second and third levels. Regardless, I think it will be a fascinating element to see play out in training camp and preseason, as it could show to be the new weakness on the defense after the front office worked to address the defensive tackle deficiency in the draft, or it could be a newfound strength with someone stepping up.

Cowboys rookie RB Deuce Vaughn on being overlooked throughout his career: “You get to college and guys kind of question and doubt your abilities because of your size. It just adds to the chip on my shoulder. That’s why I’m the hardest working guy that you’ll ever meet.”

That's still not what I offered as I now have thoroughly explained...get a clue and leave your bag of home made excuses at home. Boredom is your most abundant contribution, as far as recommendations from posts as above, get a life of your own.

Perhaps YOU can step up with something football related other than slander coat tailing....Son. You still are lying and now a continuously repetitive source of only personal bias. Say or prove something relevant to the upcoming season. I have and haven't strayed from describing analysis that comes from standards fully explained and not from rah rah vanity.

See a recruitor or just own up...go back to sleep, yourself as you haven't approached the basis for analysis, and that in fact is by comparing to true function...good or bad. Please do explain and not by insulting further or blaming me.
You are too old to be whining like this. You made this bed, now sleep in it.

tap the breaks, i like the draft more then most but please dont put that type of comp and pressure on a player before he even gets his pads on for the first time. maybe lets call him the next leon Lett we can adjust later. LOL

I only skimmed the story but didn't see any mention of Randy..
So, as far as purpose, you state that comparison to a good soldier is not relavent to a new soldier? That is dead wrong, because if not compared to the one's carrying the weapon....what good at all is a comparison.

Omar Bradley was the last living 5 Star General in the Army. He retired to William Beaumont Hospital at Fort Bliss, Tx. His welcome to the Post ceremony lasted an hour and a half just for the Pass in Review. Eight people in formations passed out during the Ceremony prior to our Pass in Review.

I was assigned to the 3rd ACR and given the Special Duty of an on Post funeral detail assigned to guard the body when that occured. We were to guard his remains until the Elite Guard in Washington, DC arrived to take formal possessions of his remains.

I also was Soldier of the Year at Fort Bliss in 1979. I carried a weapon or was on an M-1 Tank.

Those who say that one does NOT talk about or compare to a good SOLDIER is DEAD WRONG.

One talks about and compares to a GOOD Soldier, or he doesn't know about what it takes to become one...period.

Purpose in pre season is not statistics or a Hero worship.

No, the purpose is to see how early developments are coming along, but not a chance to attach one's self to glory.

That requires team building and very good leadership.

AIT Training had to get a trainee ready to go to war, in six weeks...period.

I had to experience 129 degree temperature in the desert. It was 15 degrees hotter inside the tank. The coldest temperature I experienced was -28 and a wind chill of -60. It was cold enough to freeze the tank's track to where we couldn;t move 10 of 12 tanks for six hours to physically sledge the track and back the two moveable tanks up to use it's 1800 degree exhaust to free up the frozen tanks track.

Yaw looking for a medal or a chest to pin it on!

All is already on the line for these 'rooks'. Myself, I'll just watch and compare to Good Soldiers....thank you!
