3 ways Cowboys got screwed by the NFL on 2023 schedule

Well coached teams will prevail.
Poorly prepared teams will have an excuse list.

Both are correct.

We've known 14 of this year's 17 opponents literally for decades.
Gauntlet is the glove thrown down to add drama to a challenge.
Gantlet is a trial with violence, such as running through a human tunnel of enemies ready to strike you.
That is what Joe Merriam and Ahmad Webster say.

Every team benefits from a bye week regardless of what point in the season it occurs. Of course, contenders like the Cowboys would benefit the most from a late-season bye to refresh and reload before the stretch run. Unfortunately, the NFL pinned Dallas with one of the earliest rest weeks possible in Week 7.

To make matters worse, the Eagles have their bye in Week 10, the Giants wait until Week 13, while the Commanders are a Week 14 bye. All of those sound better than Week 7.

2. Difficult road schedule

While the NFL gave the Cowboys six primetime games, it didn't have the team's best interest at heart when it formulated Dallas' road schedule.

Try wrapping your mind around this, Cowboys Nation: America's Team will play the 49ers, Dolphins, Bills and Chargers all on the road. Of the five non-NFC East teams on the schedule that made the playoffs last season, only one is at home -- the Seahawks in Week 13.

1. Gauntlet from Weeks 12-16

Dallas will play the Seahawks (home), Eagles (home), Bills (road), Dolphins (road), and Lions (home) from Weeks 13-17. The fact Seattle is the easiest matchup in that gauntlet speaks to how difficult it is.

When the sun sets on the 2023 regular season, would anyone be surprised if all five of those teams were in the playoffs? The Eagles and Bills are shoo-ins, and the Dolphins have at least a 10-win roster -- assuming Tua Tagovailoa's health -- after a representative offseason.

Every team has something to ***** about the schedule. Waste of time and energy.

Odd then that their dictionary (well, George's, Charles's and Noah's, no idea who Joe and Ahmad are) agrees with me.

No easy route. No excuses. No matter who we play.

Schedule right now is meaningless.

There's no easy way to be the best.

And no way to determine the strength of the schedule right now.

You have to differentiate between the two. M-W clearly prefers gantlet as an ordeal such as flogging or blogging.
Gauntlet for the glove.
Also Associated Press uses gantlet as the ordeal and gauntlet a the glove.
Odd, our language.

Hold a very small bowl as the cherries won't be plentiful.
No lay down schedule this coming season as the dogs are few and the defenses we face are playoff caliber.
Personally, I will be surprised if we win 9 games this coming season.

Dallas hasn't spent 27 futile years. Case and point. If you are in the NFCEast, We own ya azz Look it up.
The goal is to win playoff games, conference championships, and ultimately the Super Bowl, not own the division. Over the past 27 years, two of our friendly division opponents have gotten the better of us.

No, I don't. Both are correct, as I said. And M-W clearly does not prefer "gantlet" as the ordeal, given that if you search their online dictionary for "gantlet," it sends you to the entry for "gauntlet" instead: they don't even have a separate entry for "gantlet."

And a style guide's preferred usage does not mean the other is incorrect. It just means they like to maintain consistency.

Well, we won a playoff Games last season .In my book that's 1 mission accomplished, conference championship and Super Bowl to go !

Of course I don't agree with you , the goal for you and others of your ilk is championships , Yada yada **** Yada. Not mine but thanks for playing.

SO no they haven't gotten the better of US

The NFL cares about money first and nothing else is even close. "Fairness" is an afterthought, something that factors in for the purpose of window-dressing for the unwashed masses. These home team fans feeling good about their teams will be going insane when the Cowboys come to town, they'll be hungry for some home cooking....

I never celebrated being the best team in the NFC East. It was just a stepping stone. It seems standards change, for some, when that's all the Cowboys can own.

Second thread I’ve seen with a fan accusing the NFL of screwing the Cowboys on the schedule. This is the first time I can remember fans claiming the league Intentionally screwed the Cowboys with the schedule. The league is finding all kinds of ways to foil the Cowboys. Lol

You have to win the east first before you can go Further. And last year we took another step winning a playoff game. To me that's not futility. I'll wait and have hope as to what can be accomplished in the future. So last year was not futile, it made me optimistic about my team. What's so hard to understand about that?

No you don't. There have been SB winners that didn't win the division.

All this crying and OTAs haven't even started.

All this hand-ringing over tough schedules.
Boo, hoo, hoo! We don't play many weaklings.
We play on the road too long.

No excuses, good teams win despite scheduling, bye week, injuries and officiating bias.

:angry:deal with it.
Let's Go Cowboys :flagwave:
I cannot play golf well. In fact if I played today, I would be lucky to break 100. But if I hold the pencil and keep score, the top 3 golfers in the world cannot beat me on their best day.

So I would ease up on “overcoming referee bias”. It really just depends on how bad the refs want to bone you on any given day. There are always enough either/or plays to make a game turn out drastically one way or the other.
