Dalton was a pretty good match for what they normally asked a TE to do especially for a 4th round pick. I'm not sure they needed to use a 2nd on shoon but whatever. We will see how they use these guys going forward.

I hope we will be ok and I think there is a good chance we will be, but I wonder how everyone on here would feel if another team that had returning TEs who caught 19, 11 and 2 passes last year and drafted a 2nd rounder that few expected would go in the 2nd round were this confident. Remember how many were so confident Tolbert was going to step up last year? My point is get excited, be hopeful and optimistic, but tap the brakes a little on young players.

schultz in his last full year had almost 80 catches and in our playoff win last year was 7 for 95 with 2 TDs. There’s likely to be a drop off. And that’s ok and I think we did the right thing letting him go, but it’s better than 50/50 a drop off in receiving for our TEs happens. Blocking hopefully we are better

:starspin:
yet no team were busting down the door to sign dalton up

Dalton wanted too big of a contract. He was decent but not feared as a Kittle or Kielce type player. It was the right move to let him walk.

We have 2 TE's that are decent to good, and showed flashes they could be even very good. But I would not say great by any means, but the potential is there as you never know at this point in their careers. But I like what I seen, and many others think so too.

We have a 3rd TE they drafted. All signs is he should at least be in line with the other 2 TE's. As we yet to see him in a NFL game to know.

So we have 3 good TE's that could get better. But I will not say great at this point.

I hate to say this but I feel like Schoonmaker was a niche investment. I feel like they used a 2nd on a true blocking tight end with solid pass catching ability in other words, an ideal TE2. I don’t hate it because they have 2TEs out there so often that he’s effectively a starter

Interested to see what Ferguson does this year, but I’m not opposed to taking a stud at TE in the future if we still feel like we don’t have a true starter
