Fundamental truth in modern professional sports: If you want to keep a great player, you have to pay for it. The average length of an NFL player’s career now is 4-5 years. Sure Parsons will likely play longer than that but a player never knows when an injury can end a career. IMO, All NFL players deserve whatever the market dictates.

Micah Parsons is arguably the best young defensive player in the league now. That means he will have the clout to set the market, again unless injury or some other issue arises.

Will it be too much for the Cowboys? Doubtful. Jerry like his stars.
Jerry likes Stars for Merch sales, the Team needs a whole team not just a few stars to sell stuff and the rest are scrubs. If we continue with the Draft replenishing like we have been you can pay some stars not all of them. 2 or 3 per side and draft to replace the rest.

This thread is why we can't have good things. Yes, he is worth it. FFS if we aren't paying Micah, who are we paying? Taking age and talent and performance into account he is IMO the most valuable non-QB in the entire league. The guy is a generational game breaking unstoppable force. When was the last time we had a player that teams literally just accounted for on every single play and game planned around? Barring injury, he will make the All Decade team and be a perennial All Pro. This is just a bizarre thread. Stars win Championships and he and Martin are the only two elite superstars that we have and Martin is going to be 33 so I suspect soon it will just be Micah. But, let's trade him away...

Very true, but wouldn't you and this may sound contradicting, but I'd like it if we could move him around more. Last season he was basically on one side the hole game. MOVE HIM AROUND a little please. We know he's to be watched, and we made it easy for teams to scheme him
Yep and that is exactly what I mean by Quinn (and not the opponent) being the only person that can minimize his impact.

It's today's NFL. The top players will keep getting record breaking contracts that all of us will deem as ridiculous. But it's what the market will bear. Contracts will continue to go up as long as the cap goes up.

Hypothetical, in the distant future you will have a million dollar cap with a QB making 200 million a year. And we will all complain about it.
Lol lol true it is what it is

He’s an average at best LB, but elite pass rusher.

He’s getting paid regardless of the team, but luckily for him he plays for the Cowboys.

You don’t have to be great. You just have to be popular.
Lol lol lol that's crazy true let's base everything off what you've already done or CAN do

To me, it's not about Parsons, it's about Prescott.

If they decide he's the future, then Parsons is most likely signed but what if they decide to move on and go for a stud QB in the draft like Williams?

Any non-QB a better move up chip into that #1 spot without having to meet the draft values? You can throw away that chart if the Cowboys are willing to trade Parsons.

Let's say the team holding the #1 pick isn't ready to go QB in this draft. The Cowboys dangle Parsons in front of them, what do you think their GM is going to do?

The first decision to be made is at QB and will there be a better time to make a change than this upcoming draft with Parsons in his prime and probably the hottest ticket to the top of the draft? Think there will be a no trade clause in Parson's next contract?
Wow you took this to another level, so Dak has something to do with this I can see that

It's not a stupid thread, it's just really the wrong question. I think everyone would agree that he is the sort of player worthy of a record breaking deal. The real question should be "for which team?"
Thanks

There’s fans on this board that don’t want players to become “great” players because the better they become the more you’re going to have to pay them. They want good players, but not great players. I argued with a fan last year who basically told me that. There can’t be a more ridiculous fan base than this one. Lol
