Dak Prescott: overrated or overhated

If you think he's Mahomes (and literally nobody does), you're overrating him.

If you think he's average or sucks, you're underrating him.

I can't stress this enough:

None of you dorks know better than the NFL players, coaches, scouts and execs who collectively agree that Dak's a top 10 QB.
 
A quarterback is only as good as his receivers. protection is very important, but a quarterback can make plays when protection breaks down. But if you don’t trust your receivers .

I had reached the same point with Romo. The point where I realized he was not that guy. But I will say this, I think Romo would have given the team a better chance to win than Dak would have during his rookie season especially in the playoffs. They could have saved the fine wine for the playoff run if they wanted. I can't believe Romo's career ended with a masterful touchdown drive that looked like child's play. I would have at least given him a series or 2 every game to see that kind of masterful QB play have a chance to continue. I understand why the team didn't, but I am not sure I could have left Romo on the sidelines full time after that last drive. It would have been a nightmare for an opponent defense to prepare for RPO Dak and Romo who at that point could sniff everything a defense was coming with pre snap and spin the ball at a high level. Romo was bad back waiting to happen again but in a limited change up role I think they missed out. Game prep for 2 entirely different QBs by the opponent was a lost advantage IMO.

Agreed. A mix of Dak & Romo late in the 2016 season and in the playoffs would have definitely worked in the Cowboys favor. Similar to how Coach Landry would alternate LeBaron & Meredith and later with Morton & Staubach.
 
Yes, some INTs are not the QB's fault.
And some throws are good but not caught.
And if Dak had not thrown those picks in 2021 and 2022 and Staubach had connected with Jackie Smith, we'd have 3 more Lombardinis.

Me, I go with what the stats say, not with how the wind should have blown or how a receiver broke late or a defender who got the ball tipped to him.
Stats are objective and Deek's errant ways are not forgiven in the NFL. Sorry.

The same stats that make Deek look good on dinky sideline passes also can haunt him in the objective sense.
Damn this Durban Diesel is good.
