Agreed. A mix of Dak & Romo late in the 2016 season and in the playoffs would have definitely worked in the Cowboys favor. Similar to how Coach Landry would alternate LeBaron & Meredith and later with Morton & Staubach.
Platooning the starting QB. You reference teams from 60 years ago.

If you think he's Mahomes (and literally nobody does), you're overrating him.

If you think he's average or sucks, you're underrating him.

I can't stress this enough:

None of you dorks know better than the NFL players, coaches, scouts and execs who collectively agree that Dak's a top 10 QB.
Excellent when playing with a lead, struggles when he has to step up with time running out.

I had reached the same point with Romo. The point where I realized he was not that guy. But I will say this, I think Romo would have given the team a better chance to win than Dak would have during his rookie season especially in the playoffs. They could have saved the fine wine for the playoff run if they wanted. I can't believe Romo's career ended with a masterful touchdown drive that looked like child's play. I would have at least given him a series or 2 every game to see that kind of masterful QB play have a chance to continue. I understand why the team didn't, but I am not sure I could have left Romo on the sidelines full time after that last drive. It would have been a nightmare for an opponent defense to prepare for RPO Dak and Romo who at that point could sniff everything a defense was coming with pre snap and spin the ball at a high level. Romo was bad back waiting to happen again but in a limited change up role I think they missed out. Game prep for 2 entirely different QBs by the opponent was a lost advantage IMO.
In hindsight perhaps Romo coming in may have helped but in my mind it wasn’t the qb position that cost the team against GB. It like 2014 was the defense

Masterful? Lol McFadden did more or just as much on the drive against eagle back ups I believe. A PI call with Dez and a couple of nice tosses to Williams but masterful is not how I’d describe it

Never gave consideration to alternating qbs perhaps that may have worked

But I’m going with overhated he and Tony were

I like the terminology. Wish I thought of it. He is clearly over-hated. But last year gave the goofballs like crappydog the ammo they've been waiting for. He needs to be better than he was in 22. I believe losing Moore and gaining Cooks will help. We'll see.
Definitely, but I think where the divide is that certain fans wont see any issue in Dak and will defend and deflect every criticism......if we dont accept criticism then how do they expect him to improve. As you say we've now got better receiving corp, potentially a game style that's more WCO and helps speed up the release (and for me a TE that flexible enough to disguise our play design) and dont have the obligatory Zeke up the middle for a 2 yrd gain.

Still think we need players to play to their strengths, Dak's is most comfortable moving the chains (with a lead) where he excels, dont put him in scenario's where's he's rattled or pressured by the clock....this may mean taking more chances early on rather than waiting for end of halves.

Saying this i'd say Dak shouldnt overtry to be what he's not, stick to the script, slow and steady (possibly more achievable without Moore).

Agreed, definitely more overhated and it's mostly by those inside this fan base. But boy did he add heat after the 49ers game. I'm pretty resonable, but was questioning Dak's future after that one. However, we all needed cool down time and to remember his entire body of work because let's face it we all have off days. Where Dak goes from here remains to be seen, but I think we'll see a very motivated Dak this season.

I think there is a little too much credit given to Dak. Yes he wins a lot of regular season games and you could put him as top 12 QB during the season but man when he is placed in big game for all the marbles and the other team is an equal that's when we see Dak play more like a top 20 QB. Many are blaming Moore but what I saw was Moore handcuffed because coverage was sticky and Dak was hesitant to let the ball go.

Problem with Romo was he didn't know when to step away. It's probably a good thing Jerry put his foot down because it could of been bad. No doubt he could still play but another hit was coming.

What matters is if the team wins. Dak will get the credit, but all that matters is winning a SB. Dak deserves credit or blame based on that criteria.

Everything was in place. The oline and running game were set up for him just like 2014. It’s a shame

The overrated/over hated tag looms large with being the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.

Fans are starving for post season success. The lack of it accentuates the divisiveness. Warranted or not, it’s just that way in Big D.
