The window might be closing fast on the Cowboys with quarterback Dak Prescott in the third year of a four-year extension. Prescott would have helped his contract situation in January had he delivered a postseason victory against the 49ers in the divisional round, where so many Cowboys seasons have abruptly ended since the glory years of the 1990s. Dallas hasn’t advanced to an NFC championship game since ’95, and have won only two playoff games since Prescott became the starter in 2016.

The Cowboys, who released running back Ezekiel Elliott in March, have reached a crossroads and will need to decide whether Prescott has what it takes to take them to the Super Bowl. This might be a make-or-break season for Prescott, but the Cowboys could be reluctant to start a full rebuild and give him a short-term contract, similar to what the Vikings have done with Cousins.

But with a strong nucleus of players featuring edge rusher Micah Parsons and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, the Cowboys shouldn’t be afraid to explore other options if Prescott doesn’t deliver this season.

I agree. This should be a do or die season for Dak. This team is too good to waste it.

Honestly, in spite of what his critics say, I think at least 90% of Cowboys agree with you, including myself.

LOL!!!!! They got a great situation over there, but we all know roster matters. Great coach, great QB, but can't do much with backup Tackles. As Tampa exploited.

I'm not a big Dak fan, but he can toss the ball around pretty well when given good targets. We got a good shot this year barring injury. I just wish they took the RB and OL a bit more seriously in the draft. But who knows, the little guy could surprise.

Well this is why it's a crossroads year. Improved WR corp, running game, OC, scheme that suits, we've even add to an already strong Defense.... now it may not be Dak's fault, but it's sure looking like if he can't do it in 2023 he will never do it (for whatever reason).

I agree 100000000%. Even if Dak throws for 400 yards and 5 TD's and we lose in the SB, screw it, dump him.

We can get the next Mahomes in the first round next year. Might as well dump Parsons too. Even if he has 5 sacks in the SB. He will have shown us that he cant win it so lets move on.

The argument is that this is the very first time Dak has had a legitimate SB contender team around him.

The argument is about winning the SB, not making the SB or championship games. None of those other QB's have won SB's.

Under the arguments premise they should all be cut.

Chances are it would take longer with more losing in wc and div rounds mixed in, so SB win in 2033
