I don't really go along with the notion of windows closing, Every year a team has a chance to add players via draft, trades and fee agency, plus there are developing players from the previous few seasons. It's not as if you have a team and it stays stagnant for 5 years and if you don't win that's it because all the good players age or leave. Teams change and evolve.

People still expect Dak to pull a rabbit out of a hat. It's not going to happen. He's Danny White at best. If the Cowboys go into games as underdogs, Dak isn't going to miraculously lead the team to victory with his great play. He's not Dan Marino or John Elway, he's a decent QB. Give him the weapons to work with and the better team, and I think he can win. Just like he did last year against the Bucs, and in 2018 against the Seahawks. The last two years against the 49ers he's playing behind the 8 ball. I find it shocking that fans thought he might up his game to make up for the lack of team talent. He's never going to be the quarterback that does that.
In a strange way, we may be saying the same thing. I agree Dak is what he is at this point in his career but with the right weapons, he can win the big games. As stated before, my issue with him is the post-season 49ers game vs the Bucs, two completely different players. He had the same team except for one player........Tony Pollard. I hate to say it but when TP went down, Dak folded light a wet suit. We suddenly saw a player with little or no confidence in himself or more importantly, his teammates. He had trouble executing routine plays, making fundamental errors. What's crazy is the defense kept the game so close to where we didn't need him to be great, or as you mentioned, Elway or Marino. I don't think it's a coincidence that all we heard this off-season is the talk of prioritizing the running game.

Remember this started with whether or not he gets his extension regardless of how he plays this season and I will admit, 2/3 years ago it would have been a hard yes for me, but now everything about his future as a Cowboy starting QB is riding on this season. No, he doesn't have to win the SB or even advance, we can't see another post-season meltdown and this is from a pro-Dak fan from day one.

I agree. This should be a do or die season for Dak. This team is too good to waste it.
I agree with you and with what this article is saying.

I think the wise move is for the Cowboys to let this season play out and then act accordingly.

If Dak has a great season? Pay him.

If he doesn’t and he’s again part of the reason why they don’t go far in the playoffs? Don’t.

But survivable with the 20 million we have in the bank and the cap being raised.
Dak is dog meat (just a feeling) and will follow Zeke to the door.
Like Zeke (and please remember members) he will have a hard time finding a team to pay him anything close to 20+ million a year.
I don't know if dog meat is the right term, but I understand the reservations about Dak. In some ways he reminds me of Donovan McNabb, who did manage to get the Eagles to a Super Bowl.

I think Dak needs to get us to a NFC Championship in the next two seasons. If he fails, use a 1st on a QB in 2025.

Agreed, but the problem is Mahomes like QB dont come out often and even if you accumulate draft capital and go for it top first round, not a sure thing.

I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan first and foremost.
If anyone is hindering my team to reach # 6 I have a major problem with that player esp when he is the highest paid and plays the most important position on the field.
Dak has had his share of the chances to prove me wrong.......he has FAILED miserably.
Time to move and end 214 forever!
50% has already hit the road......

I don't necessarily disagree. We're dealing with a special game where Dak actually crapped all over himself. Otherwise I'd say, of course he's going to look different against the Bucs than 49ers, one team is good and the other is ok. Our other playoff losses were mostly team losses with Dak unable to make up for the lack of talent.

Yes Dak has played very well with weapons around him. But as others have pointed out, many times over the years when Dallas came up against a solid opponent, the entire team and Dak did not look very good. I'm hoping that changes. Anyone can rack up big stats against bum teams. But for whatever reason, Dak seems to play very well against the Eagles.
