Al Harris praises Kelvin Joseph

Everyone, anyone thinking Fats is on the bubble... peeps are crazy.
Fats is going to enter pro bowl status this season,,, the battery acid is strong peeps!!!!

I know, not my first rodeo. With this franchise, you CAN see the future. You call it not having patience, I call it this team can't consistently stay away from gamble picks early. Especially in the 2nd!
James was a decent player, but who cares? He was a 4th rounder who was mediocre. Joseph is a 2nd rounder in his 3rd year with nothing to show but special teams accolades.
They are not the same.
Who needs to be caught up to the game?

Early picks = day one starter. Use the rookie contract!

Outside of a few coaches in the NFL most will not say anything overtly negative like, "Nah he sucks". They will dress it up and then people wonder why did he get cut at final cutdown.
 
Nice special teams player. Ignore where he was drafted because that's a sunk cost and just accept he is what he is - a really good bottom of the roster STs guy who can help this team in that way. If he is a starting CB for this team it likely means something (or a few somethings) bad happened.

They won’t say they suck but they will elude to them “needing to get better”…..you can read between the lines on some comments.

Pretty much. And it’s so crazy to me he gets the flack he gets. Thus far he hasn’t been good enough. When a guy isn’t good enough you want him to still contribute to your team. He’s done it with special teams. He honestly should make Goodwin expendable.

You think James was a mediocre player? He became the first player to lead the team in tackles for three straight seasons, did it for six consecutive years and became only the second Cowboys defender to finish with more than 200 tackles in a season. If by mediocre, you mean he wasn't a Pro Bowler and All-Pro, then yes, he was mediocre. Otherwise, it appears your standard is too high.

I agree with you that Dallas takes too many risks in the second round on players who have question marks, but that doesn't mean that Joseph will fail. You can't base the outcome for one player on what happened to another. That's like saying we found our last two franchise QBs in the fourth round or beyond so don't spend a first-round pick on a QB.

There are always risks with second-round picks. The Athletic's analysis shows a median hit rate for the round between 20 percent and 26.7 percent. "Generally speaking, you have a 25% chance of getting a Stud or Starter with a second round rookie selection."

Some of you just have higher expectations than reality.
 
hes just Bossman Fart until he makes the team and does something. He will become Bossman Fat after he makes the team. DLAW was DFLAW 2 years ago for me. Now he's DLAW. Dude has been a great team guy and did his job. He even plays hurt and shown leadership. Hes a pros pro and has matured. If Kelvin can hang on in the NFL long enuff he can as well. If anyone can help him its DQ and Harris.

'Corrosive' is the correct definition but interpreted incorrectly. Battery acid is strong enough to cause severe chemical burns, etc. Harris used the term to describe how strongly Joseph has performed as a positive in that context.

What's the issue? James was decent, but not great. I wouldn't have considered comparing the two because there are no dots to connect. At all.

I give you my opinion and facts supporting it and its dismissed into the "some of you" pile. Like the rest of your responses.


I didn't like Joseph throughout his college career. Shortly after his NFL career, I continued that frame of mind because he's an ignorant man-child. His athletic ability and potential do not trump the mountain of evidence that Joseph is a low football IQ player. "Maybe" he smartens up. "Hopefully" he finds a mentor. But at present, I have no respect for a player who is so dumb they make stupid penalties on the very limited amount of snaps they get. I don't expect perfection, just improvement from freaking pre snap penalties would be super. Then, the occasional playmaker play would stand out more to me.

Mediocre means "of only moderate quality; not very good." Decent means "of an acceptable standard; satisfactory." James was a good player; good enough to start and do pretty well for us. Maybe your word selection just needs to be better.

Not sure what facts you gave to support your opinion, other than we've sucked when drafting questionable talent in the second round. I think that's a fair assessment overall, with the exception of a few like Diggs. I also think it is fair to not expect much from Joseph at this point. I think the evidence we have is not in his favor. All I'm saying is that he was a relatively inexperienced player coming out of college (and a lot of that is his own fault) and he appears to be a slow learner. That can mean it will take him a while to get it on this level, if he ever does. Physical ability is not the problem, which is why he was taken in the second round. Mental ability/commitment are the question marks. Can he overcome them? Who knows? Certainly not those who purport to be able to see into the future.
