I don’t care what anyone says, last night’s win over the ‘hawks was the best win of the season…so far. Next week should top that, but I’m getting ahead of myself.

For everyone who thinks margin of victory matters at all in the NFL, last night’s win against a good Sea team is a perfect example of the silliness of that notion. This isn’t college football where resumes are based on how bad you beat someone and how good you looked doing it. In the NFL, W’s and Ls are always the bottom line. 9-3 is very impressive.

Here are the reasons why last night’s game was the best win of the season so far:
  • Despite the defense not playing well, the team found a way to win through the offense. The offense carried us last night. That’s what good teams do on a night one side of the ball isn’t playing its best.
  • Has anyone noticed that the almighty egirls struggled against a 6-5 bills team last week and we all were impressed that they were able to come back and win that? We played that script last night too.
  • Anyone remember what the theme was around here about 8 weeks ago? This offense was not moving the ball that well. Look now.
    • Offense is no longer sluggish in the red zone. (except for the stupid delay of game penalty!)
    • This team just set an NFL record by scoring 40 or more in 4 consecutive home games.
    • Since the debacle at SF, Dak has thrown 21 TDs with only 2 picks.
  • We just won our 14th straight at home.
  • Seattle is a good team. Three weeks ago they were 6-3. Injuries have hurt them a lot but they played their guts out last night. We beat a good team. A team that if the season ended today is in the playoffs.
This team showed some guts last night. I was glad to see them get punched hard but still be able to punch back and win. Good teams find a way. That could have easily been a trap game.

This team still needs to improve a lot. The stupid penalties are driving me crazy. I’m beginning to think McCarthy just doesn’t work enough on improving that because those pre-snap and offsides penalties are just stupid.

Now it‘s on to the eagles. Let’s gooooooooooo!
We win a game that we played very bad. Penalties, defensive struggles and we over came those. Also 3 ganes in a very short period. It’s a big win

I completely agree. Good assessment of the game. The way they came back late to win the game showed character. Not only did the offense come through at the end, the defense finally stopped them a couple of times and picked on off to make sure the Seahawks could not get a bigger lead or comeback for a late victory.

These games take years off my life I am pretty sure, but they build character and show heart.

It was indeed an awesome win. And we actually did it in Eagles fashion. As great as everyone thinks that they are they’ve been using this same script for a month. Keep it close and win at the end. Our D played the worst game of the year, but they made three stops in the 4th to secure the victory.

It was almost a mirror image of Philly/Buffalo. Two desperate teams playing their butts off to keep playoff hopes alive only for the better team to win it late.

  • Despite the defense not playing well, the team found a way to win through the offense. The offense carried us last night. That’s what good teams do on a night one side of the ball isn’t playing its best. Agreed, multiple comebacks in the game. showed heart and metal..
  • Has anyone noticed that the almighty egirls struggled against a 6-5 bills team last week and we all were impressed that they were able to come back and win that? We played that script last night too. Oh yeah but the Eagles are claiming the bills were better and that game was tougher for them and that was more impressive which is nonsense...
  • Anyone remember what the theme was around here about 8 weeks ago? This offense was not moving the ball that well. Look now. Yes!.
    • Offense is no longer sluggish in the red zone. (except for the stupid delay of game penalty!)
    • This team just set an NFL record by scoring 40 or more in 4 consecutive home games. :)
    • Since the debacle at SF, Dak has thrown 21 TDs with only 2 picks. Yes this is a very nice run the problem is if our defense plays like this against the better teams that have both good teams in all three phases, we won't get away with this.. the fact is Seattle just had a bad defense. So are our problems resolved against the really good teams like the 49ers?? not yet, we will see but I believe Miami looks a lot like Seattle with their weapons at wide receiver and a fast running back, we're gonna find out if Dan Quinn makes any changes and if the rest helps. I would like Dan Quinn to stop playing so much man and run some zone and get some double teams and help those corners stop being on an island...
  • We just won our 14th straight at home. awesome
  • Seattle is a good team. Three weeks ago they were 6-3. Injuries have hurt them a lot but they played their guts out last night. We beat a good team. A team that if the season ended today is in the playoffs.
I agree that they are good and we should get some credit for finally playing in a game where we had to make multiple comebacks, we had to play great on offense in a high scoring game against a team that had a winning record... That's great but that doesn't resolve the issues that we're going to have with a team that might have a better defense and a good offense that can move the ball like this and stop or slow down our offense, you know like the 28 points we gave up to Philadelphia and the 42 to the 49ers.. I'm not sure this defense is up to the task it's supposed to be championship level you can't keep giving up so many points in my opinion our three losses are squarely on the defense... They need to find better ways to play defense at times like more zone less pass rush.. I don't know what it is but they seem to be right now boom or bust opportunistic and they starting to look like rod marinelli's defenses... Far too many long drives even and Carolina in Washington if you look at those teams weren't good enough to capitalize but they are being walked down the field far too easily and all these games...

To me the defense is the biggest? Right now and I know that's surprising to everyone but it is.. the other issue is RZ runs and run game in short yardage.. I mean come on it's obvious we need to use hunter and Rico a lot more poor Pollard, this dude is being overused in these situations and I don't understand why we aren't trying to run in a good example is going for it with a minute and 40 left and throwing the ball to CD lamb in the end zone instead of running the football they're not confident in their runs but I don't think they should be afraid to run they just need to use Rico data more and get this guy involved in the game to where he's warmed up and can come in and give you something because I would have handed that ball to Rico dowdle with hunter as the lead blocking fullback go between the Smiths and try to get those three yards and run time off the clock they all game were afraid to run the ball on short yardage because they're using Tony Pollard far too often!!!
This was a very good response and target on. It actually was a good game. Seattle has three very good receivers. Dallas only had one sack and they attacked using a deep scheme of passing routes.

Didn't see the game cuz I'm at a convention in Chicago, but it looked like an impressive win. Sidenote, I'm having a great time at the convention. It's been great, and I've had fun with my friends here. I'm here till Monday.
Broken English Taco Bar in Chicago is a favorite of mine.

its not a trend...it happens

they were never going to play 17 great games....
When you play 17 games, it’s impossible to play at your best every single game. The defense was bad last night but the offense carried them. Could the offense have done that 8 weeks ago? I doubt it.
As always excellent thread (flowers).
I agree with it all. Some fans don't know how good SEA can be. I liked seeing guys step up vs a physical football team and not fold because they're hitting hard. NFC West maybe the most physical division in the NFC, and Dallas comes out 2-2 against the West. Lastly, Dak came up big in the clutch.
Seattle is a playoff team. And they played with toughness and focus we haven’t seen since the 49er game. Yes, our D was not playing well last night. But as you said, Dak and the offense made plays when they had to.

Besides the defence going offside, I'm also getting sick of MM's 1st down play.
1st down - up the middle for 2.
1st down - up the middle for 2.
1st down - up the middle for 2.
1st down - up the middle for 2.
1st down - up the middle for 2.
1st down - up the middle for 2.
1st down - up the middle for 2.
1st down - up the middle for 2.
1st down - up the middle for 2.
1st down - up the middle for 2.
1st down - up the middle for 2.
1st down - up the middle for 2.
IS THAT THE ONLY BLOODY PLAY HE KNOWS ON 1ST DOWN? Everyone knows it's coming.

Yes it's pretty obvious games are week to week are about matchups... I think that we match up better say against Buffalo than we are against Miami and Detroit with those games I could see happening just like this because they could be wide open offenses with multiple weapons at wide receiver and running back that can come out of the backfield yet both those teams don't have great defenses either so is this game because of the lack of rest in the three games in 12 days or is it stubborn Dan Quinn won't get out of man and he wants to have such a great pass rush that he's leaving our dudes hanging out on an island back there against some really good receivers that are not supposed to be covered man to man one-on-one not almost every down.... Just like when you try to cover amari Cooper Dez Bryant Michael Irvin or CD lamb one-on-one all game that's when they have their big games when you go man on our team you get lit up how is Dan Quinn not see this at some games you need to change your defensive game plans to match your opponent not be so stubborn that you think you're just gonna being aggressive pass rushing team that plays man on the back end and that you'll just deal with the results....

We can get away with this stuff against teams with lesser defenses because our offense can hang with them but when you come up against 49ers and the Eagles they have they have the defenses and the offenses you can't do this crap against them so let's hope that with the 10 days rest and the game plan that we have some extra time to come up with that's gotta be a little different than the other Eagles game you can't come in with the same game plan even though you're gonna be at home and let's hope the 49ers beat the Eagles and this is setting up to be what we hoped it would be we end up beating the Eagles and end up tie for the division regardless of tiebreakers I don't care about all that but just record to record we'll end up both being 10 and three and then the end of the season is gonna be crazy,,

but anybody who hasn't noticed this has been Dan Quinn I do not want him as our next head coach he is not that impressive yes his defenses can drive most teams crazy but if a team can slow our offense at all if they can play defense, you can't play reckless man to man all game and leave your quarterbacks hanging out to dry....

I could not agree more ....

This win, in my opinion, was the best win of the season, as we were forced to show fight from behind and prove we can do it. The only thing is I thought we abandoned the run a bit but came back in the 4th quarter with it, which was good.

Bob I appreciate your expertise and your professionalism but you act like this is an anomaly all three of our losses they played like this I mean if you just letting that slide of how bad they played against Arizona the Eagles and the 49ers they're being walked down the field against teams that can also slow our offense we're gonna lose if they keep playing like this this is not new this is not because they're tired yes that's a factor but that's not the first game they played like this the three losses in my opinion were more to do with the defense playing just like this too much aggressive pass rushing too much man on the back end and you're leaving your corners hung out to dry and our safeties are not good enough to get over and help as freelancing we need it to be by design we need it mix in a lot more zone and maybe somebody can break it down because I don't watch the games with a microscope on how much man and zone or any hybrid defenses they're running but I'm gonna tell you right now that statement acting like you can't be up for 17 games all our three losses were because of the defense playing just like this the only difference those teams slowed our offense so that way we couldn't have a high scoring game and scoring at points in the end...

So over this 10 days maybe yourself and some of the other guys that like to write these research papers need to find out how much zone versus man or some of the hybrids where they split the field and play some zone and some man has been played in the three losses and last night because to me they're playing way too much man they're way too aggressive up front and when they don't get home they're getting beat...

You're right. It was a great team performance. They got punched in the mouth by a playoff contender and somehow managed to win. A lot more impressive then blowing out the one win Panthers.
No it wasn't. Defense left many areas to be desired and corrected. Offense needs to shore up the untimely offensive line penalties. It was a win, but film will show both sides of the ball......many flaws that need to be addressed. There were great individual performances, but team performance?.........no.

Offensively, yes they were gritty. Specifically your playmakers. Dak, Lamb, Ferg and Pollard played out of their minds.

The defense did not put in their best performance. They were fortunate to make some plays at the end which is fine, but don't expect your offense to put up 50 every week (even though they are).
It will not hold up to teams like SF, Philly or Detroit.

The Eagles have made a whole season playing like this and they get praised for it. Was it a perfect game? No But it was a great win. Yes the defense is a concern. The False starts are troubling and then there's McCarthy's clock management problems. But the Cowboys survived. They actually beat a good team in a close game. That should do wonders for their confidence. We'll see what happens the rest of the season but I always say the real season for the Cowboys doesn't start until after Thanksgiving and they're off to a good start. Let's enjoy the win for a week. We have a bigger fish to fry next week.

Agree! I see Super Bowl. Even with the D having lapses, the O picks it up, This is a complete team! Really enjoying confident Dak and how they overcome issues.

Agree Bob.

The penalties are atrocious, especially the pre-snap penalties. I'm not sure what MM can do about guys lining up offsides, except to have the entire defense line up a yard off the line of scrimmage, which obviously would be a bad thing. It's not like these are a bunch of kids just learning the game. They know the rules. Maybe fine guys for each stupid penalty?

The offense, and especially Dak, was on fire, a continuing theme for several weeks now. It seems like the game has finally slowed down for him, and he didn't panic at all. Even when he was wrapped up and it looked like he was going to be sacked, he calmly stood his ground and got out of it, then made a play for a first down. (IIRC)

If DQ can get the defense back to being one we get excited about watching, the sky's the limit.
