Why is Michigan getting a pass? Didn't their coach get banned for a few games for cheating (by their conference no less). It seems they should have been DQ'ed immediately.

No matter what happens, no matter how many people go along with it, there is NO NATIONAL CHAMPION for the 2023 season.
Keep telling yourself that.

No matter how many times you repeat it or scream it at the top of the mountain, it will NEVER BE TRUE!

You know, it doesn't matter how many people think this decision to exclude FSU is somehow understandable... all of them are wrong.

In 2023, the SEC is weaker in head to head matchups 6-4, and bowl eligible teams. 9 eligible versus ACC's 11 eligible. 12-1 was the best record of any SEC team.
The ACC being the stronger conference in 2023 had an undefeated champion, 13-0.

SEC teams are not supposed to get into a playoff based on previous years performances, and current analyst hype in the face of concrete facts. This is ironclad, no reasonable debate remains... FSU should be in the playoff. Without them, this year is simply an invitational football contest, not based on merit whatsoever. Again... No National Champion in college football, and don't you forget it.

Okay. Whatever you say my friend.

I’ll tell you what. As long as we are talking in fantasy land and playing make believe…...

If you go and magically heal your QB’s leg, I will make sure that FSU gets added to the playoff schedule.

Here is the College Football Playoff selection protocol:

https://collegefootballplayoff.com/sports/2016/10/24/selection-committee-protocol

2. PRINCIPLES
  • The selection committee will select the teams using a process that distinguishes among otherwise comparable teams by considering:
    • Conference championships won,
    • Strength of schedule,
    • Head‐to‐head competition,
    • Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory), and,
    • Other relevant factors such as unavailability of key players and coaches that may have affected a team’s performance during the season or likely will affect its postseason performance.

That bolded part isn't worth toilet paper. How many rosters have changed across the college football roster landscape due to the transfer portal, prior to bowl season? How many players will opt out of their bowl game due to the draft?

How many players may get injured between now and their bowl game? All unpredictable.

Roster excuses are pathetically weak, and intended to hide the agenda. Not buying any of it, even if it were written in concrete. You don't make decisions based on rosters, the games on the field are what drive the decision. Leaving out FSU was purely whimsical, and has no basis in any rational process.

It's actually in the rules the committee has to work within. Quoted above.

Sorry that doesn't fit your narrative.
Sorry not sorry.. that kind of sorry? You don't care, don't pretend that you do.

If a 1 loss champion from a weaker conference is somehow getting in, while the undefeated champion from the better head to head conference with 22% more bowl-eligible teams, then 4 best teams should never be spoken of again. "4 best teams" is no excuse for the whimsical selection of who gets in. Who cares what's written down in the rules, if the selection is maliciously ignorant and profit driven?

I don't. Didn't sugar coat it either.

Anyone that doesn't understand the 4 best teams the committee came up with the rules they had to work with doesn't understand the rules.
Nope, I understand the rules, and most specifically, they are being used on the path to whimsically place other teams besides the best in their invitational games. Their rules are being used as pathetic excuses to cut out the most obvious champion. Because of that, their written rules aren't worth toilet paper, all of them are corrupt. It is disgusting and indefensible what they have done.

I really like college football. Less than before but still enough to follow.
Truly can't stand the constant transferring, though I don't really blame the players for getting what they can get.
Also, can stand the realignment, but love the game so much that won't deter me fully either.
But an undefeated FSU really did get royally screwed. Seems unfathomable that you could run the table like that and get left out.
I'll pass on watching the Final Four this year.

So, for the Rose Bowl, it is Michigan #1 against Alabama #5

Ahem.... #4 is not playing due to ESPN's attempt to line their pockets. Seriously, the #4 team is not amongst the 4 playoff teams, so malicious from the corruption for profit committee.

ESPN has ruined college football, and they don't care. The committee should, one by one, be disqualified from ever serving in that role again. Completely disgusting.

Saturday is judgement day for FSU.

If they “can beat anyone”, and if they are a “powerhouse”…. They need to put up or shutup.

I truly hope that Georgia doesn’t embarrass them.

False premise on your part. 40 players have opted out or entered the transfer portal because of CFP's stupid, self serving decision for ESPN profit. Georgia can beat them 100 - 0 and FSU still owns the #4 spot, and should be in the playoff. Every other argument is worthless.

If not having their starting quarterback still makes FSU a powerhouse, not having a bunch of lesser players doesn’t change anything either. Their quarterback was by far the engine of that team.

And by the way, I noticed that you aren’t discussing any of the Georgia players that are not playing/sitting out/etc. Both teams will be down players. Stop making excuses.

Georgia has 18 players who entered the transfer portal in December, so yes, that was part of the 40 number I was referencing, which includes players who are on both teams, either opting out for the draft, or entering the portal. If FSU wins somehow, with their 3rd string QB, (Tate Rodemaker entered the portal), missing their top 3 WR's, Georgia will blame it on all their guys who went to the portal. Both teams are a shell of who they were prior to the CFP debacle.

Both teams are vastly different than the regular season, which underscores more than ever why excluding FSU based on the roster is illegitimate and ignorant.

I make this prediction right now. Alabama will be the last team standing in this invitational corrupt tournament, and you are going to see some of the worst one-sided officiating in their favor. ESPN and the CFP are desperate to prop up Alabama and somehow justify their corrupt decision. It's very much like your hope that Georgia winning would alleviate the corruption in such a brazen fashion. A win won't do that, nothing justifies how that corruption played out.

Well, the SEC has a funny way of showing their dominance, by losing.

Losing conference gets in, with a 1 loss champion, Winning conference is left out with an undefeated champion.

The selection is not serious, the goal is not to consider who the winners on the field are, the goal is something else. Prop up the SEC, while maximizing TV ratings, and keep Nick Saban happy.

College Football is a fraud.
This didn’t age well. :lmao: You knew it was coming smart guy.

I think 35-3 before half just proves FSUs QB does indeed suck and that team was never going to be competitive in the playoff with him. Committed decision justified !

RIP Penn State and OSU. lol

Yeah 42 to 3 at half.

One of the worst college bowl performances of the last 10 years. Thank god the committee did not put them in, they actually did something good.

Edit: unranked 5 loss USC with their backup QB put up 42 points against Louisville. Wonder if he will still tell us that the ACC is better

Most people saw this coming. The top 3 teams in the ACC have lost their bowl games or are currently losing. FSU wouldn't have performed any better in the playoffs. The conclusions indicate that the correct teams were chosen. To say otherwise is just making excuses.
