To be fair, the teams that Romo had around him (outside of 2007 and 2014) were pretty weakly constructed. Those 2010-2013 teams in particular were probably 4-6 win teams without a good QB leading the way.
He had several real good teams 2007, 2009 and 2014. The 2009 team beat the 13-0 Saints in the dome and finished that season with back to back shutouts. We blew out Philly in the playoffs. The following week Romo was terrible against Minnesota along with our defense. Romo and Dak have had to deal with a lot of the same team deficiencies. Primarily poor defensive performances.

that game against Minnie was a total disaster; Favre carved up the D that had up to that point been really excellent like a christmas turkey under an electric knife
and both tackles were bad; colombo was done and the Hotel got injured. So Romo had no pocket. That game frankly sort of reminded me of the GB game this year except that the Offense did try and romo was not looking like a terrified rabbit. He just could not do anything but he never gave up.

Our OL fell apart and our defense was atrocious. Despite the OL there’s no excuse for Romo’s 2 fumbles. Take the sack but don’t fumble. Romo had 3 turnovers and turnovers were an issue for him, especially in critical games.

I think that play is my favorite single play from the Tony Romo era. I love watching that highlight. And the fact that Watt had bad intentions and Romo beat him and scored a TD! All the more sweeter.
lol. I forgot bout Romo’s spin move. Im too used to Dak’s stumble moves in the pocket.
Gawd dog, one of my favorite all time plays. Working in Houston and being a Cowboys fan I had a lot on the line. Hard for me to be more hyped than the magic Romo pulled off there. Man he was fun to watch on good days.
Romo was an outstanding basketball player in high school..probably used that move a few times on the court.

Romo the Houdini ! LOL

That play and another one where he picked Gurorde lob and got a first down are epics. Pity he didn’t get a defense which can hold a bit , like 2022 playoffs if the defense had held Romo wouldn’t wet the bed and be competitive, unlike Dako who just vanishes

2007 and 2009 are the only years where the defense was really anything but hovering around league average. I really never have believed fully in the way any of our better teams have been constructed over the last 15 seasons.

I digress though, I suppose it doesn't do us any good to talk about it now but I truly believe the main reason Tony never got to a Superbowl is because he had to play for this dysfunctional franchise.

Odd statement to make. I get wanting to make your presence felt with a good hit but to say you want to injury someone is Bill Romanowski level
Literally admitting attempting to murder...he should be investigated.

I wouldn't be surprised if TJ was exaggerating a bit about "literally killing Romo." He's not the only DE who makes dumb statements like that. In any event, Romo ended up winning the game, much to TJ's chagrin. He's no choir boy! They lost -- that's his tough luck, and it served him right.

The irony in JJ Watt's comment is that instead of
" killing" Romo, he nearly killed himself due to weakness, ignorance and bad advice.

The defense really came on the final month of the 2009 regular season. We only gave up 17 points to a great Saints team and finished with back to back shutouts. I didn’t think there was a defense in the league playing better than ours entering the playoffs. We only gave up 14 to Philly in that blowout win. After the game everyone was acting like we had just won the SB because it was our first playoff win in 13 years. It was Wade Phillips first playoff win and everyone was patting him on the back.

He had a stupid “aw-shucks” look on his face after the game with everyone congratulating him. I knew right at that moment we were in real trouble the following week. We played so poorly against Minnesota you would have thought he sent the entire team to Cabo a few days before the game. The OL and defense were horrible, which led to Romo’s poor performance. It’s the teams and coaches that have held us back, not Romo and Dak. That all falls on Jerry.
