The Jones have come to the same conclusion many of us fans have. Our situation is this, 1. Our QB isn't good enough to take that big of a cut of the cap space and we win a super bowl. 2. You can't field the kind of team around him to win it for the same reason. So what do you do? Resign him and continue to be mediocre, or roll the dice let him walk next year and start a soft rebuild this year? With the way they have approached Free agency so far the writing is on the wall.
It wouldn't matter because this is a build through the draft team. Only bottom tier FAs to fill holes the draft couldn't cover. That's their approach when Dak was on a rookie contract getting paid peanuts, and that's their approach now. The only thing extra cap space allows the Cowboys to do is sign more of their own players.

If they roll the dice and let him walk after next season, things will likely get much worse than they are now and that could last a number of years unless we get lucky with another QB. At Jerry’s age I’m not sure he’s going to be willing to take that gamble.
Dont kill yourself just because you are afraid of death.

You’re not making any sense. KC used a top 10 pick on Mahomes which is why they moved on from Smith. He was just a stopgap. Go compare his numbers to Dak’s. lol There’s a reason Smith was in his third team.
I'm making complete sense. Smith was taking KC down the same blind alley as Dak is taking us. KC moved up the draft to take a QB they thought would change their fortunes. You are happy with this status quo.
I

You are scared of change mate.
You also had no.idea who Alex Smith was .people on this site are laughing at your take.

You are happy with failure.

KC saw no hope in Smith which is why they traded up in the top 10 for Mahomes. Although KC won some games with Smith he wasn’t very productive and didn’t throw many TDs. He never passed for more than 3500 yards and 23 TDs in KC. Dak is a much better QB than Smith who was holding KC back. KC knew they could do better than him. The Cowboys are being held back mostly by their defense that never shows up in the playoffs.

Smith was Dak . Othwr posters have pointed this out to you. You're drowning. Nobody agrees with you. You have been peddling this failure for years.
Are you Tad?. Or do you work for French.?

28 Years of failure and you are happy with another 28Years.
You wallow in mediocre.
Pathetic and anti - Cowboys.

Other posters pointing things out to me? Most who come here don’t have a flipping clue what they’re talking about. Those other posters claim Dak sucks. lol You’re just wasting my time.

The Cowboys are not the same as other teams in the NFL. I'm not necessarily talking about the Joneses either.

"America's Team" doesn't rebuild. That would be admitting defeat and thus be unpatriotic. You can argue New England will be rebuilding but it's not the same. Do you know how many casual fans we'd lose? I'd bet a lot.
You articulated the problem with the Cowboys. They lead the league in casual fans because their owner has a casual attitude about running an NFL football team.

The Jones boys would be better off rebuilding the team and letting Dak walk.
As people like to say it's a team game and as we have seen already this team has won games without Dak. That's what SF has been doing. Play musical chairs at QB until you find a good one but focus on the team. Can't do that until Dak and his elite salary are gone.

He insisted on being paid at the top of the market last contract. What info are you getting saying that has changed?
I don't need to prove it. It was said his demands are high. Where did you get his demands from?

So now everybody is wrong but you. Which is rich as you had no idea who Alex Smith was until I pointed it out to you. Hilarious. Plus the teenage emoji. How old are you? You are finished mate. Another anti Cowboy who would prefer the same 28 years of decline. Nobody who really loves this team is buying it. If Dak is signed which I think he will be this team will never win a SB.
Which you and your ilk will love.

The fans who say Dak sucks and is on par with Alex Smith don’t know what they’ve talking about. No offense guy, but I only skimmed your post the other day and never saw Mahomes name, which is why I didn’t know who you were taking about when you said Smith. As for my age I’ve been following the Cowboys since the 72 season. If you try making this discussion personal I’ll be finished with you.

The only ones that may lose their minds are the personal fans of Dakota....a rebuild has to involve a change at the qb position.

For them its personal but for the other 95% of us it's just business.

9 seasons of futility is the charm
No mostly the delusional fans that think they're way is the only way also who want one thing and if they don't get it they complain, then if they do get what they want and it doesn't work they blame JJ lol

I have a problem with letting QB1 walk. If they're going to move on from Dak they need to facilitate a trade to maximum ROI. Letting Dude walk is a 3rd comp pick barf...while, a trade is multiple premium picks and a player or two.
Dak will never bring multiple premium picks and a player or 2…never! This is fantasy land thinking.
