Honestly I’m getting close as well and I’ve been a diehard fan for 45 years. I’m going to miss the 2nd day of the draft for the first time in about 15 years and I don’t even care. If the Cowboys tried different things and it just didn’t work, I could live with that. But it’s the same thing every year and it’s getting old.
At this point its not even fun. I am not going to emotionally punish myself over an FO that is not even making an effort to win. I come here to interact with other fans vs having any sort of excitement about the cowboys

Him and JJ love to talk about the draft. Never hear other teams talk so much about draft plans or I just don’t pay attention to what the GMs/personnel guys of teams say.

Hope is a strategy right
Exactly right. These guys have somehow lucked their way into two franchise QBs, despite their best efforts, and now act like things will just work out.

What if we get to our first round pick and all the OTs we like are gone? Do we now HAVE to take a guy we don't like? Skip over player who is more likely to succeed (like a WR for example)? Their strategy of thinking the stars will align for them is such BS. We will sit there all day on draft day and watch while the players we want will go right before us. Because everyone and their mom knows what we want. And then their hand will be forced, again, and we will end up with another Mazi. A player who did less nothing his first year, who they are bizarrely counting on for the foreseeable future to fix a problem that he had already made worse.

It's so maddening to watch this happen.

I won't sit there on draft day and watch it...I'll check after the fact....every year I get more and more worn down on caring...if it wasn't for this site I probably wouldn't know anything that's going on...sadly I used to really love the NFL and the cowboys, now I feel I'm just holding on to false hope

They seem to have the pulse of the team. I'm happy about that. They'll lead us to a great season, and deep in the playoffs, and quite possibly the Super Bowl!

Everyone gets so excited when they come up w/ reasons to draft still more Offense. And then we lose again because we can't stop the run. Brilliant.

This is what happens when you need everything because you sat on your hand during free agency.

But let's be clear, other teams draft too and there is no guarantee when Dallas is on the clock the draft will line up with their needs. Are they going to force a positional pick?

If Will and his staff had Mazi ranked BPA at that point then I have to think we need a better scouting department. It was easy to see how slow off the ball he was and that there were questions about his motor.
Information that came out after the draft (I don't know if it is true or not) was that other teams were interested in him at that point. So some others saw the same potential. When you get into the 20s, you are looking at flawed players. Either the production doesn't quite match the physical skills or their physical skills aren't as good as the production. Even players who fall from the top, there are reasons for it. There are players who fail each year who are taken at the top of the draft, much less in the middle to end of the first round. The Cowboys are not immune to that, but their hit rate in the first round is still better than many teams.

The same scouting department that failed on Mazi last year hit on Tyler the year before. I don't fault them for not being perfect since no team is. I fault the management for not using free agency better to keep us from having to force needs. They can say they took the best player, but if you have needs, you are always going to favor the player you need over one who would just upgrade a position if the values are similar.
