Cowboys intend to work out a contract for Dak and have not closed off potential to consummate a deal

Of course a deal gets done. Jerry isn’t letting go of the dream, just like he wanted to be right about Garrett and held onto that dream for as long as he had to.

Dak whether we want or don’t want him to leave the team is going nowhere which makes not being aggressive this offseason even dumber.
Agree. To me it isn't even a pro or anti Dak thing, it's a failure of the front office thing. Failure might not even be the right word as you have to actually try in order to fail.

The jones have long said “deadlines make deals” and Jerry has long talked about having your back up against the wall bringing the best out of people. They truly think this is gonna make dak and the team better by having them prove it to them even though their intentions with dak have always been to bring him back.

McCarthy may be another story but this is how backwards they are thinking right now

This would be dumb. So you didn't extend a guy who needs all the help he can get during free agency but you are going to extend him now after that ship has sailed?

All that will do is give you an overpriced average QB who will be killing your cap even more in 5 years.
its what we do. Bypass Free agency, THEN do it later after the damage is done. Never proactive. Everything is done in a vacuum.

The Dallas front office has been extremely generous with Dak, despite the awful performances he's had in the playoffs. It's high time for Dak to prove he's deserving of his contracts, once and for all. He and his agent sorely need to respect the plight that he's left himself vulnerable to. If Dak is truly deserving of being paid in the "elite" category, the time to prove it is now. The rest of the team deserves their chance to be paid well, too!

I'll be honest. Given that the Jones seem to have no desire to actually improve this team above what they have been, I am in this for the entertainment value. And in this case, I kind of want Dak signed for only one reason - to watch Moutaineer Cowboy blow his stack.

That tweet sounded like Jerry wrote it.

Regardless, not charting a path to let him go (who writes like this?) is not some indicator that they intend to get an extension done.

If Dak is not signed before the season starts, he will not be resigning with Dallas period.

What would be the point?

They are doing nothing to improve the roster, but goofy fans are expecting Dak to get to the NFC Championship to get an extension.

Let's face it -- Dak and his agent have been demanding far more than he's worth for way too long now. It's high time for Dak to show his worth for the benefit of the team, well as himself. Dak and his agent aren't signed to a contract, as yet. Maybe it's past time to show some consideration for the rest of the team, besides himself. It's more than obvious that he's been overpaid in years of the past. He has a team and teammates to consider. Let's just hope Dak and his agent finally see it's high time for them to be reasonable. Yes, the Dallas FO is far from perfect, but so is Dak and his greedy agent.

Again, the way this team does business is all wrong.

If they intend to get a deal with Dak done, great, than why didn't they get it done weeks and weeks ago? Then maybe actually have enough cap space to bring in players to improve the team around him enough to the point they might actually go on a playoff run this time?

Listen, I know Dak needs to be better in the postseason. But so does the rest of the team. The Cowboys are just running it all back again in 2024, only this time the roster is not as deep as it was in 2023. They are setting Dak up for failure. Maybe this is their way to drive down his price??

“While there’s currently no offer or imminent talks…”

That should’ve told you this wasn’t news.
They have HOPE I can dig it.
False Hope but hey don't cost anything or anybody.
Whatever, come kick-off time just follow the Deer in the Headlights and the tale of his demise in Dallas will be final.

GM Jethro takes advantage every time he has leverage. No reason for a player and an agent to not do the same.

Good GM's have a back up plan to prevent leverage. Jethro, due to incompetence does not.

You hear it all the time from Owners and GM's, it just business.

I agree. At this point it doesn't matter if you are pro-Dak or anti-Dak. The Cowboys' front office is screwing it up so badly it's making people on both sides of the fence wonder what is going on.

I truly believe the Jones boys don't even know what the plan is.
