Mayor of Dallas rooting for Chiefs to move back to Dallas

The Chiefs’ future is very much in doubt after Jackson County, Missouri, voters overwhelmingly rejected a sales tax extension that would have renovated Arrowhead Stadium. Before Tuesday’s vote, Chiefs president Mark Donovan had threatened the team could leave if the measure didn’t pass.

Where would they go if they did move?

Dallas mayor Eric Johnson, who repeatedly has pitched his city as a candidate for an NFL expansion team, posted an invitation to the Chiefs on social media.

Would not switch from the Dallas Cowboys. But I dropped the Arlington Jonesboys.

I'd choose Secaucus, NJ......the old joke is that if your woman asks you to kiss here where it smells, drive her to Secaucus
I’m sittin in a bar playing video trivia, partaking fruit of the hops and this made me bust out laughing! Good one. Gonna have to steal it.

Wo
It is for real. The story anyway. CBS sports ran a story today on the possibility. Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson welcomes the idea. Doubt it happens. It’s probably just the Hunt family trying to get leverage with the city of KC to get Arrowhead renovated.

Most forget the chiefs started in Dallas in 1960 in the old AFL as the “Dallas Texans”. They left in 1963 for KC.
Wow. Gosh this would be epic if it happened

I wouldn’t jump ship if the Chiefs moved to Dallas. If I have survived the last 28 years I don’t see anything causing me to jump ship now unless Jerry and Stephen come shoot my dog.

I’ll never switch teams, but I’m learning how to care much less.

Jerry and his act are removing all the joy from the whole experience, and it’s not even about not winning.

The way they run the franchise is an embarrassment.

I’m a Cowboys fan to the grave. Grew up in Dallas and my dad started taking me to games in 65. The Cowboys represent something other than football to me - they represent a bond between my father and me (or I; grammar experts chime in).

That said, I would love the Chiefs to come home to Dallas. If nothing else, it should light a fire under the Jones clans’ derrieres. But Jerry is too powerful in the owner’s cabal to allow that to happen.

Yo @Reality you got some connections over at chiefs kingdom? I wanna see something.

There IS - and will only EVER BE - one Dallas Cowboys franchise and team. All others and their potential followers - BE DAMNED!

I wouldn't mind a return of the Dallas Texans. But they could only ever be my second favorite team if they moved back. Once you choose a Team, you should stick with it.

This is an embarrassing topic to even discuss. There is 0% chance of the this happening and I don’t think any city should have two teams in the same league. You all should be ashamed of yourself for making this a 5 page thread. I hate myself for contributing to this thread myself.

And PS, this guy has to be the first mayor in history to advocate for another sports team to move into his city when there is already a team that bears the name of the city. I don’t see this mayor advocating for anything else but this stupid s***. I almost want to overpay for a property to move Dallas and vote this guy out.

The Cowboys could move to North Korea and Id still be a Cowboys fan. I always tell people, asking me to root for another football team is like asking me to stop liking women and to start liking men.... its simply not possible.

Just to emphasize the plight of the Dallas fans to field a contender, I wouldn't hesitate to switch.

This is coming from a veteran Cowboys fan of 64 years! I began watching 'em in their 1st year.

There's no doubt but what I'd keep up with the C'boys, as well, but the Chiefs, I couldn't resist.

Dallas was originally known as the Dallas Texans that later became the KC Chiefs.
The Cowboys were the NFL's first modern-era expansion team.

Sorry, Mr. Mayer, Dallas is a one NFL football team. Yeah we’re all frustrated with 30 years of nothing but the Cowboys are still the Cowboys. There’s not room for another NFL team to come to Dallas. It would be a losing proposition. Just like Los Angeles. Revolving door of teams coming and going. It won’t work. as much frustration as there is surrounding the Cowboys, their fans are still lifers.

Texas is an enormous state, let them go to the heat of SA or El Paso and see how well they do.
