Not a bad signing but wake me when the Eagles get a legitimate NFL secondary.
Probably the worst back 7 in the entire NFL. Nothing at S, nothing at LBer, and one ok aging past star at CB. They need a lot to fix but got a play maker back in CJGJ. They need a S, two new Corners and entire new group of LBers.

On top of all this the Eagles have spent $143,562,500 before this signing and $88,392,500 of it is fully guaranteed before this signing. They better hope all these signings work out or I'm telling you they are going to be in trouble. I think even now before draft we still look better on paper except at running back but we all know Barkley is going to end up out with an injury at some point. :p

Mailata is their left tackle. Not a guard. They also signed their left guard. He’s an All-Pro, not a tackle. You don’t understand fans’ frustration at all.
I do understand fans' frustration.

I also don't understand why I should be upset when another team extends the contract of one of their own players. It's not like the Eagles stole him from the Cowboys.

I know the Cowboys let Tyron Smith go, but he's also a lot older, a lot more injury prone, and was a free agent. Mailata is none of those.

Every team hopes their moves work. Philly has signed players to back fill guys they’ve lost, like almost every other team in the NFL. As of right now Philly has more cap space available than Dallas and more draft picks in the upcoming draft. They seem to be in a more advantageous situation to improve their roster than the Cowboys. It is understandable that fans are concerned.

What are we doing? Getting ready to make Dak Prescott the highest player in the NFL while the team around his falls off because they can't pay anyone else.

Yes I said in my first post I understand the concern due to all the uncertainty but I also understand why this is happening. We could easily make cap space but that puts money into dead cap space if the players whom got the advanced money don't fulfill the years of their contract. Also Daks agent Todd France I hear is a very difficult agent. He has a lot of his guys get franchise tagged because they couldn't strike a deal. Most our money is tied in Dak this year. Sure we can extend him but I am sure they are pushing for a 60 million a year deal with large guaranteed amounts of money. Dak isn't going to get that in the open market. Dak is a decent QB but he isn't worth more than Mahomes. Problem is they have only two choices due to his contract. Find a trade he agrees with which is easier than you think you just bench him or keep negotiating till you get a more realistic contract. I think Cowboys learned and are also more nervous after the Elliott contract. I get concern but I don't see doom and gloom yet. I'm excited for the draft.

Dallas may be better and has always matched up against Philly well but Philly is better at more positions than just RB. They have better WRs, better TE, better OLine, better DLine. Also, Howie always structures contracts well and has the ability to back out. Signing a lot of FA's is no guarantee but not signing anything to fill holes doesn't work either.

Crossing of the fingers that one of the top T falls to 24. That's pretty much the strategy here. That or Have Bass along with somebody else at center start when Smith goes to LT. Not very ideal but you do whatever you can.
It's just a bad strategy that we're destined to employ this draft.

When a team lacks draft capital and is drafting late in rounds, the goal should be to take BPA with considerations given to key positions.

We should not be trying to fill holes.

I see your point but you aren't benching your MVP runner up QB and sit there and lose while players like CD, Parsons, Diggs etc. are furious they are losing because they have a good QB on the bench. I think Dallas could get a lot for him and he'd get big money on the open market from a team that desperately needs a QB. Look what Cleveland paid for their QB

Also just looked it up to trade Prescott before June 1st we get $66,270,294 in dead cap space to trade him after June 1st that goes down to $26,132,647. So even if we do trade him won't be soon. Maybe why Cowboys said they will open negotiations in camp since only way to get any leverage is to threaten to bench him.

Look at my post above. It is a business and they will play they don't have a choice. I think they want to sign Dak but not at the amount they are asking for because Dak and Todd know the Cowboys have no leverage. Threatening to bench him will make them be ok with a trade if they don't get a contract they like. It is unfortunately their only play due to his contract.

No one is going to “threaten” Dak Prescott. CeeDee has an agent. Micah has an agent. What would they think of an organization that threatens its players when they don’t agree to terms? They would advise their clients to play out their deals and tag years and get away from such an organization. The very suggestion that Dak be threatened is ridiculous even for posters on CZ.

It's their only play and is a last straw move. He has a no trade clause. If they don't extend him and cut him next year there will be over 50 million a year dead cap hit due to the void years. How do you see getting out of this without just bending over and over paying for him? I need to add that is if he says no to trade when you first ask nicely.
