Well that's that. We keep dak cuz everything else sucks too. Okay.
I guess, kinda. It's a lose-lose situation. I think the best scenario is either Dak taking a big paycut like Brady did and playing for $25-$30m per year (which he won't do), or them going full on tank and getting Shadeur if that's even possible. The question is then do they build around Micah? Is Micah truly a generational talent? Or will he just flame out because he's too immature? He keeps falling off in the big games too.

Any semblance of a running game.... a defense that doesn't give up 30 plus points and can stop the run, and has at least, ya know, ONE actual linebacker, lol. Things any SB winning team has. Don't get me wrong, Dak played bad too (especially given the season he had... the drop offs in play are both inexplicable and inexcusable) but he's never had close to the stacked rosters that have made the SB. Other than maybe his rookie year but the defense was never great. Honestly I think Quinn's defenses were kind of like Dak's play these past few years.... alot of flash but not much substance when it came to beating the good teams.
The Cowboys or any other team will ever be able to give Dak everything he needs to succeed.

Dak can only be carried so far before he has to do something to contribute in tough games.

The Cowboys are at their very worst when it’s Daks turn to carry his weight.

If the Cowboys really are going to draft a QB in the first round, who would be left of substance that late in the first round?

Perhaps, if the Raiders are truly interested in Dak, maybe they give up their first if Jerry agrees to pay much of that contract, and then Dallas packages both of their firsts to move up high to get a QB.

That's risky because there's no guarantee any of those guys will pan out.

And all that seems like a pipe dream.

It was risky when the Chiefs traded up for Mahomes, but they don’t operate scared.

Maybe, however, he's also got: a history of capitulation in contract extensions, bases his football business on staying relevant and being obsessed with keeping his 'elite' stars.
Oh he'll try, but he's in that position that if he moves on from Dak he'll be out of his depth in rebuilding a team....he'll be forced to re-sign Dak, as he's too scared of the alternative.
Trey Lance can't play any worse than Dak against good teams.

It is still early in the long off-season. Anything can still happen.
I am glad though Jerry is taking this approach and not giving an extension.

We really do not know what is going on. Is it Jerry and Stephen, or is it Dak and his agent. Or both.

What gets me is the lack of still doing nothing. It is like a dead fish on roster building. Though we know it will be based on what happens in the draft.
What if a QB is there at #24. Man, can you imagine the draft thread at that point.

1. The horrible Green Bay flop that saw Dak become the first QB to ever lose to a 7th seed as well as his playoff record falling to 2-5 making it the worst of all time for a QB with at least 5 starts. This was the game where many of the on the fence types chose a side.

2. Jerry’s “We’ll go as far as Dak takes us and that’s how far we went” comment. That’s not a ringing endorsement, huh?

3. Zero activity in free agency signaling that things were changing as far as the current group of players and coaches were concerned, so there’s no need for that “all in” offseason many thought Jerry prophesied.

4. The 5 million restructure making Daks mega hit next season a little more manageable. They could’ve saved 20+ million by resigning him, but they chose to just save 5 and not resign him. Very telling.

5. Then the news of Dak and Dallas agreeing to play out his last year comes out further showing that things seem to be reaching a divorce point.

6. Rumors of a trade to Las Vegas. Are they true? Probably not, but it’s just more smoke for the already fire.

7. Daks legal trouble. What comes of this is anybody’s guess, but it doesn’t help Dak. Thats for certain.

8. Rumors the Cowboys take a QB in the 1st round. Will they? It remains to be seen, but again, just more smoke for the now bonfire sized fire.

9. Jerry is a businessman first. We know his football knowledge is remedial, but he knows how to make money. Businessmen aren’t going to get suckered twice by the same guy. He got played once by Dak, but that ego won’t allow it to happen again.

10. The players families piling on also. They aren’t saying anything they don’t hear from other players. Heck, even Tad wants Dak out at this point.

I don’t see how any of this is trending in the “Dak gets resigned” territory.
We don't know what the Cowboys are going to do because they are likely weighing options on many factors, some of which are yet to play out. Having Lance and not resigning Dak surely puts pressure on him this season, but that doesn't mean they have taken the decision to let him go. I could see them posturing with him for now to see how it plays out during the season. They also seem to be focusing on youth and player development across their roster, and may look at this as a rebuilding/new generation roster type of scenario. We don't know that either, it's just a possibility. At this point options are open and we have yet to see what they do during the draft which will give us another clue to add to your list. The story isn't written just yet, methinks.

Rumors that have substance matter, rumors that are made up don't change anything. If the Cowboys and Dak were actually discussing trading him to Vegas that's significant. But if that didn't happen it means absolutely nothing.

not sure what the point of this thread is, unless we need another Dak thread that we haven't had in about 15 minutes, so at least keeping up the trend......

what were you trying to accomplish with this? what's the goal?

I just can’t see how he will come out of this without going somewhere else.

Send him to Vegas and the fans will love him there. They are starved for a QB.
Raiders signed QB Gardner Minshew to a 2-year, $25 million ($15M guaranteed) deal last month March 14th). He will compete with 2nd year incumbent starter Aidan O'Connell for QB1.
The new duo in charge- GM Tom Telesco and officially HC Antonio Pierce (was under the interim status last season) are not going to start off doing an about-face and trade for Prescott...losing draft capital + having to work out a contract with market demands.

It's been bad for 28 years so let's continue it with dak. lmao. I'm scared too, who could we find to beat up on bad teams and choke in big games? If you can tell me that, I'd be all in on a new quarterback. :\

I watched NFL Live on ESPN yesterday and they were saying even though Dak isn't very good in the playoffs he still has a good regular season record. All I could think of was Cooper Rush was 3-1 when Dak got hurt. Just think of the players they could sign.
