If the Cowboys really are going to draft a QB in the first round, who would be left of substance that late in the first round?

Perhaps, if the Raiders are truly interested in Dak, maybe they give up their first if Jerry agrees to pay much of that contract, and then Dallas packages both of their firsts to move up high to get a QB.

That's risky because there's no guarantee any of those guys will pan out.

And all that seems like a pipe dream.
Hmm..about the same as any draft pick I'd say.

I watched NFL Live on ESPN yesterday and they were saying even though Dak isn't any good in the playoffs he still has a good regular season record. All I could think of was Cooper Rush was 3-1 when Dak got hurt. Just think of the players they could sign.
Keeping Dak around is just telling everyone that you are a-ok with having a good regular season and flopping in the playoffs.

Your point #4 doesn’t make any sense. Not sure if you understand what they did or not

His dead money for next season is more expensive now than it was before the restructure

Edit*** if you mean next season as in 2024 then that makes some sense. But they did make his dead money for 2025 more

1. The horrible Green Bay flop that saw Dak become the first QB to ever lose to a 7th seed as well as his playoff record falling to 2-5 making it the worst of all time for a QB with at least 5 starts. This was the game where many of the on the fence types chose a side.

2. Jerry’s “We’ll go as far as Dak takes us and that’s how far we went” comment. That’s not a ringing endorsement, huh?

3. Zero activity in free agency signaling that things were changing as far as the current group of players and coaches were concerned, so there’s no need for that “all in” offseason many thought Jerry prophesied.

4. The 5 million restructure making Daks mega hit next season a little more manageable. They could’ve saved 20+ million by resigning him, but they chose to just save 5 and not resign him. Very telling.

5. Then the news of Dak and Dallas agreeing to play out his last year comes out further showing that things seem to be reaching a divorce point.

6. Rumors of a trade to Las Vegas. Are they true? Probably not, but it’s just more smoke for the already fire.

7. Daks legal trouble. What comes of this is anybody’s guess, but it doesn’t help Dak. Thats for certain.

8. Rumors the Cowboys take a QB in the 1st round. Will they? It remains to be seen, but again, just more smoke for the now bonfire sized fire.

9. Jerry is a businessman first. We know his football knowledge is remedial, but he knows how to make money. Businessmen aren’t going to get suckered twice by the same guy. He got played once by Dak, but that ego won’t allow it to happen again.

10. The players families piling on also. They aren’t saying anything they don’t hear from other players. Heck, even Tad wants Dak out at this point.

I don’t see how any of this is trending in the “Dak gets resigned” territory.
Well it definitely shows there's some reservations about an extension. It doesn't mean something won't get done, but considering the Cowboys were frugal in free agency and didn't free up much cash with his contract there's really no point to extend him now.

I think Jerry will take pity on him and give him the second-highest contract. I'll celebrate it like it is a playoff win. Screw the team, it's been 28 years so what's another 5 as long as dak is still here.

Honestly believe with the talent we have on this team Cooper Rush or even a quarterback like say Gardner Minshew could have led this team to the playoffs the last 3 years.

Definitely not 12-5 though as Dak is obviously better then them but good enough to sneak in and still fail miserably in the first round.

It was risky when the Chiefs traded up for Mahomes, but they don’t operate scared.
I think the Cowboys should do just what the Chiefs did with Mahomes. The Chiefs took Mahomes but still had Alex Smith. Smith was the starter and Mahomes sat his rookie season. When the Chiefs traded Smith, Mahomes became the starter and never looked back. So, either try to work out a trade that Dak will agree to, or let Trey back up Dak this year and then let Dak walk. I'd prefer the Cowboys get something for Dak, but that might have to be a compensatory draft pick if Dak won't agree to a trade. I would in no way extend Dak at this point.

I think the absence of news, or a deal, has activated imaginations in the sportsworld. We've seen this before where the Cowboys take their time getting deals done. The waited the first time they wanted to re-sign Dak and it cost them millions. While they twiddle their thumbs with Dak, they are doing the same thing with CeeDee. Do we know why?

It seems like when the numbers get big, Jerry gets paralysis. I can understand it. It takes some getting used to when I hear the numbers for contracts every year. It is the ultimate sticker shock. Imagine paying CeeDee $30 million, and Micah $35 million? Then think about Dak asking for $60 million! At some point, I can understand an owner thinking, "is winning really worth it?"

It is a pipe dream.
The Raiders signed FA Gardner Minshew last month to a 2-year deal ($25M, $15M guaranteed).
He will compete with Aidan O'Connell- who became the starter after then interim HC Antonio Pierce benched Jimmy Garoppolo after six games last season.
And there's the slim possibility that Las Vegas uses their 1st or 2nd round pick on a QB themselves.
Raiders have no internet in acquiring Prescott.

right because that was not the team MO before Dak got here..it was superbowl or bust from 1996 to 2016!!!! Jerry Jones being the GM of this Franchise tells you that..but again if only we could find good players after 1996....

I don't know how you can use all these data points and statistics to back up your views/opinions on Dak and then ignore that Jerry and Stephen have never put together a championship roster, or even come close without Jimmy. Which means that they will likely resign him because being "competitive" and selling tickets is more important than tanking for the future, and if they don't they have absolutely 0 hits on scouting and acquiring good QB talent that they didn't luck into. Even if you were 100% right about everything you say about Dak I would still think they probably have a better shot with him getting hot at the right time than they would the Jones' finding a great QB and actually taking advantage of a rookie deal and going "all in" at the right time. Not implying they have a great shot either way but I think the Jones' are worse at team building than you think Dak is at the QB position.
talking about Jerry and Stephen doesn't get likes. choosing a side on a controversial player, gets you likes. he compares his total likes to others.

Doesn't matter if you pro-dak or anti-dak. I wouldn't be surprised at Jerrah making a dumb decision.
