Paying Dak more money wont make the Cowboys better. They couldn't win with Dak before the big contract. It would be stupid to pay Dak the most in the NFL when he chokes every time in the playoffs.
Unfortunately our priorities don’t always align with our owners .

Let me sum this up for everyone.... Jerry is not paying Dak twice unless France and Dak agree to lifting the NTC which they will never do.
Jerry may be considered dumb by some, but he doesn't like getting burnt twice.
I give Jerry and this FO applause for this portion of 2024 thus far, now if it plays out that they fold and extend Dak and reset the market than shame on me for actually believing they are moving in the right direction for once..

We must always remember our owners agendas can differ from what’s best for the team.

To him keeping Dak provides a consistent playoff team which is easy to hype and promote selling tickets and jerseys.

Jethro would rather stay in perpetual relativity than risk starting over. Plus it just takes less effort.

I don't remember either of Romo's contract negotiations taking this long, or being such distractions in the offseason. Every time Dak has come up for contract it's drawn out and each time he's pinching Jerry for every last penny and all the power. There was never any stipulations in Romo's contract for anything like no trades etc... It's all ego for Dak. He's already been paid top money once. He has to break the record for a contract again?

You certainly have more confidence in Jethro than I do.

Seems like Romo received Market Price contracts as well? Maybe didn’t have the stipulations.

But this is all part of the business side of the NFL that turns fans off, especially from someone without more success.

We really aren’t sure what his demands are at this time. Nothing has been disclosed .

Most fans want to move on even if we got him free. But it’s a reminder of our owners agenda that he’s willing to keep him whatever the cost.

There’s always the possibility Prescott is asking for too much closer to 60 mil per . We don’t really know as no offers or demands have been disclosed .

But we do know what the current market price is , 50-55 mil per. Which might be where the Cowboys are willing to pay.

The negotiations will heat up in training camp. I look for a last minute under the bell deal to be done. Otherwise the Jones are basically throwing this season out the window with their HC and QB heading out.
There’s always the possibility France has informed the Cowboys that he prefers to negotiate after Dak is an unrestricted free agent. We do not know what the market price for NFL quarterbacks will be in March 2025. We also don’t know what Tagovailoa and Lawrence are going to sign for. I look for Todd France to wait until those QBs have signed and Dak is available to any interested team without that team having to compensate the Cowboys with players and/or draft capital. When his client is in his strongest negotiating position the talks will begin. You know how some posters at CZ differentiate between Cowboys fans and Dak fans? Todd France is a Dak fan.

Could be but I believe as reported here locally that if we don’t have a deal done by beginning of season it’s a strong message and indicator we are ready and prepared to move on and won’t get into a bidding war after he reaches FA in 2025.

We’ll see how much input Dak has over his agent France willing to take a deal to stay in Dallas than possibly a bigger deal in FA. Based on everything I’ve read so far leans to him wanting to stay here.

Negotiations are private. The media, local or otherwise, have no clue so everything you’ve read is pure speculation. It is in the Cowboys’ and France’s best interest that all discussions remain private. So you’re simply speculating as well. I would speculate that the Cowboys are preparing for life without Dak Prescott after this season. They would be foolish not to. Any team in the Cowboys’ circumstance regarding quarterbacks would be foolish not to develop a contingency plan. As of this moment Dallas has no quarterback under contract for 2025. That is a solid hint they’re looking at alternatives before signing anyone. Right now only four quarterbacks in the entire NFC East are under contract for 2025, Hurts, Pickett, McKee and D. Jones. Everything you’ve “read so far” is just the usual nonsense spewed by media in the months between the Super Bowl and the draft. Best to dismiss it.

Not paying Dak makes the Cowboys last in the division.

Jerry has painted himself into a corner.
Hard to see a scenario where we don't massively overpay and hamstring the team for years.
Jerry is not gonna let Dak walk.
It really is an embarrassment in my opinion. It should have been an all in or all out moment.

Trying to stay relevant, without a chance to make a playoff run is just a waste of time, which is the one thing Jerry does not have.

He was never the highest paid QB.

It will be interesting to see what role CD plays in all of this or if he complicates the issue.

1. Is he going to hold out? He has certainly earned an extension.

2. Does he even want a long term contract not knowing who his future QB will be?

3. Does Dallas need arguably the best WR in the NFL with no real QB in 2025?

What a mess GM Jethro has created.

I agree with most of what you say. I also think both sides were ok with saying.. lets just wait and see. Dak knows he is going to get a minimum amount of money.... probably 55 million per season...so lets say a 4 year 220 million deal. But if he wins a super bowl, that could go up o a 4 year 240 million dollar deal. I think boths side sare okw ith waiting to se ewhat happens this year. I they dont have a decent playoff run, Dak is ok with saying ok.... pay me 55 million. The cowboys are also ok with that,.
If they win a SB, then dak can say pay me 60-63 million per... ad I think the cowboys would say no problem baby, you just won us a SB.

I think too many people are signing off dak.... but Jerry always tells us what he is really thinking...... and he keeps aying he believes Dak can win a SB....... and I believe that Jerry does believe that.

Jerry is now in his 80s. Do think he is willing to just throw seasons away?

Well to be honest they pretty much already did that when they let 13 free agents walk and signed 1.

Extending Dak and adding 3 top 100 picks is not going to close the gap. We are looking at a 9-8 season at best.
yawn...... you know how many have said that same 9-8 crap each of the past 3 seasons?

Based on what I’ve read thus far locally is they plan on some of our prior draft picks who they’ve been developing to fill some of the holes as well.

It’s difficult to begin making any kind of predictions which would seem premature until we see how the roster shapes up in training camp and preseason.

Did we lose surmountable talent? Yes, what will the impacts be based on who is replacing them is yet to be seen. I prefer waiting on those analysis until the results begin coming in than spinning a crystal ball.
exactly..... who exactly have we lost? I hear Hanins is a big loss... but our run D sucked...so I dont give a damn about him. Buffalo crushed us...... so bye bye Hankins, replace his old faat arse with some young kid. Mazi cant be any worse.
