I would add that Jerry peaked in 1989. His single biggest achievement was the Herschel Walker trade that literally enabled him to build a dynasty

It's his only business model for success and cannot be duplicated. He's a one trick pony and has been swinging and missing for over a quarter century.

He will die on that hill.......
Hold on now....I don't want to defend Jerry here but to pretend like all he did was "one trick" is insulting. He hired Jimmy Johnson and fired Landry. And people said he was a idiot for doing it. That's just one of the many things he did do.

.......it's still just part of the 1989 peak.

What has he done since?....... that's my point?

Unless the only goal is to increase net worth instead of Lombardis in THIS century.

Last year the Eagles choked down the stretch, but every year the previous 4 - 5 years, they have been pretty good.

The last six years the eagles have 56 wins finished last in nfce once and 2 division titles. Dallas has 60, no last place finishes in nfce and three division titles. .

You forgot to add the Eagles had an SB win and an SB appearance during that time..
The sb appearance yes. The sb win, no.

The point is that the post said Dallas could learn from the eagles and the eagles have been good every year. Besides the one playoff run, which they were real good, they haven't been better than Dallas.

Math is provable. Keep face palming like you have a point. but they won the Superbowl in the 2017-18 season. That is 7 seasons ago.

2018-19
2019-20
2020-21
2021-22
2022-23
2023-24

Since then they have one more win in the playoffs than Dallas.

Why start at 6 and not 28?

I don't know, why don't you ask the op instead of jumping into the middle of a reply that you clearly don't understand. Why 28 instead of back to 1993 or 1960?

Because starting the year after the Eagles won the Super Bowl helps make his argument better.

Honestly though the fact that the Eagles were able to, in that timeline, win a Super Bowl, blow up the team, build a new won, and make it to the Super Bowl with that team, all in that short of a timespan (when the Cowboys have not made a conference championship game in 29 years) sort of shows how quickly a well run organization can completely rebuild. I am just sort of in awe that of all the teams to argue the Cowboys against over the past 29 years, the Eagles are the team being picked when I would think they are overall a top 5 team in accomplishments during that time (this one I would have to fact check to confirm though).

Football wise he’s done nothing….no argument there. But his resume is a little stronger than just the Hershel trade. But his team has struggled to make a conference championship and it’s completely his fault.

It wasn't even my argument. The op used last 4 to 5 years which doesn't support the thread topic because they are very similar teams in that timeframe. But you didn't read that part I'm guessing.

If he had used the last 8 years there would be nothing to discuss.

And eagles are close but not top 5 last 29 or 30 years.

If the goal is to be better than the Eagles the Cowboys are fine. If the goal is to meet an AFC team in the playoffs, well, the Cowboys are behind the Eagles. Time to set the goal somewhere above the Philadelphia Eagles.

Agreed. This whole thread is off base and weird
