The Fields trade is the one that gets me the most.

In retrospect that Lance trade looks horrendous. Still time to make it work though. If he is a throwaway it will go down as one of Jerry’s dumbest moves.

Bryce Young may end up on that list in a few years. I’m still laughing at the Panthers who traded the farm for Young, costing them the number one overall pick this year and an opportunity to draft a much better QB prospect in Williams. Not to mention they passed on CJ Stroud. It must SUCK being a Panthers fan.

Does it really matter what pick we lost in the draft when you can't win a Super Bowl through the draft alone, anyway? As long as it ain't a 1st, then whatever. We need those firsts for our Mazis.

Because of a 4th round draft pick throwaway? Do you think that is on the same level of dumb as trading Amari for a ham sandwich (5th)?

Did Jerry overpay for Lance? Probably. Was it a drastic overpay? Probably not. Lance was going to cost more than the other guys traded simple because the cowboys bought him a year early. Realistically his value was probably more like a 5th rounder than a 4th.

Ultimately though the lance trade should be evaluated by what he does the rest of his cowboys career, not what other guys received via trade. If Lance flops in Dallas and walks after this year then it’s a total waste from Jerry.
you offer a 5th and you have more teams to compete with in a bidding war, to beat the bidding war, go harder, instead of fighting which team takes the 5th, offer a 4th, and you're the only team!!!

We paid the most for the QB who has done the least from that ‘21 draft.

Lance has reportedly shown little to nothing in practice so far in his time in Dallas.

We won’t have a 4th round pick in a draft where gurus are saying there will be plenty of 3rd round grades available in the 4th rd.

To put a cherry on top, we’re probably going to end up losing Lance for nothing after this season.

Shambolic front office.

I called it immediately. We also traded the most for the one that had the least experience.

I've always taken exception to this quote and here is why. There are several notable exceptions to the so called rule.

1) If I hit a brick wall with a pick ax in exactly the same spot with exactly the same force over and over I will eventually break through that brick wall.

2) If I aim enough water at a structure that structure will eventually collapse. It doesn't even have to be a powerful stream of water. It can just be enough to cause corrosion. Add in a little sea salt and the structure doesn't stand a chance. Eventually it WILL succumb.

All of this is to say that pecking away at a problem is a perfectly legitimate approach. Provided of course one has the time and patience to wait for the eventual outcome. The problem with most fans is lack that patience so we want immediate results and if we don't see them we attack the team, the front office or the players, the trainers, the team doctors even the cheerleaders for not giving us what we want.

I am in no way defending the Joneses or the Cowboys or Dak or anybody else on or associated with the team. Just trying to offer a little different perspective. I have been fortunate enough to seen all of the Cowboys' championship runs as well as the near misses. I gotta admit that these early playoff exits hurt way less than the Super Bowl or NFC Championship game losses. If we aint gonna win the damn thing then I think I'd rather we just give a good accounting of ourselves and bow out in the divisional round. I don't know that my heart could take another Super Bowl loss at my age!! To say nothing of a heartbreaking last minute NFC Championship game loss which sends one of our hated rivals to the Big Dance? No thank you..
Let me know when you take a hammer and hammer a 6 inch piece of steel until you bust through. lol.

How long do you think you will hammer and hammer and hammer until you see it's a worthless endeavor.

Let’s see how he does in camp / preseason. Too early to know if it’s a fail at this point

I would have wanted a Rueben or BLT…

The Amari thing bothers me on a couple fronts. First if you draft Lamb you have to franchise Amari not sign him to a big deal. This would buy a little time to see what you have in Lamb and keep Cooper motivated. Second they dispatched the guy in public which declined his value and let it be known they were done. Beyond stupid.

Yeah, the Lance trade doesn't even hit the top 20 in "dumb" Jerry decisions yet.

Not that I’m disagreeing with you but when/where was it reported Lance has shown nothing in practice? Any links available?
I literally heard Brodus say he hasn't heard a single negative thing about Lance since he arrived here. Hes done everything asked of him and is apparently doing it well enough to stay under the radar of scrutiny.

I'd love to see the link, because it's news if so.

$5M is a lot when you're a 3rd-string QB. They would be better off starting Rush for a year or two while they find a replacement. BTW, The Cowboys have 9 days to pick up Lance's 5th-year option.
Which the Cowboys DEFINITELY won't do.

The upside of being thought of as a 1st or 2nd rd pick by the entire league. And a top 3 pick by the supposed genius in SF. Having a huge arm, can run. Was great in his limited college career. This seems like upside to me.
so Wilson was selected 2nd. should we have traded for him instead? I mean most of the league thought. they picked him 2nd. Wilson was great in his college career. doesn't that look like an upside?

the point is after 3 years in the league, you know a lot more than what he has done in college and what he is capable of. there is more evidence in the NFL, which takes the guessing away.
At this point, there is no upside except for wishful thinking. the probability of success is 10%. and thus everyone is banking on 10%.

From a value stand point Trance trade does hit the top 20.

But from any logical stand point it is number 1. It never had a chance from the first second the trade was made.

..yep, it was really weird in the least. Might of been just for show. Since they have money to throw away.

All these people on the list are proven commodities, proven they cannot do squat - Trey hasn't been given that luxury yet to fall flat on his face so there is still value in the unknown - that is how sports works.
