Point taken. It's just that almost every grader has him going much later in the draft.....but you have to hope he will pan out

As for Lance, I really can't comment on it until we see him in preseason and even then we may not know.
With Lance it’s also nothing against him.
But it’s clear we over traded for him.

And what makes matters worse is if he does hit we won’t ever reap the benefits of his rookie deal because he and Daks contract end at the same time. Just moronic. They just aren’t moving smart.

Tyler Smith should be our LT, that’s what he was drafted for, to take Tyron’s place. but he’s played so well at LG, the team isn’t going to move him, much less 4 out of 5 starters
We shall see in camp I guess. Should be interesting at least. Love the depth we now have.

How is that possible? Marist was drafted with the 2nd pick in the third round and we didn’t have a fourth round pick. No way he would’ve lasted until the 24th in the 5th round.
the draft was full of jags with potential at LB in rd 5 just like the kid we drafted 2 rds early. . We passed on a good rb prospect in the process.

I really dont know how people that watched the cowboys last season can think that running back comes anywhere close to linebacker on our needs list. Its truly a crazy take in my opinion.

It's been 3-4 years now that the middle of that defense is pop warner soft.

When your offense is built like Dallas, just get a RB room that compliments your passing game and is prepared for situational football. Udfa, FA, trade, no problem finding rbs nowadays

They should have taken Marshawn LLoyd. The draft otherwise was really good. But the goal of a 12- 5 team should be to improve, not fill the holes left from talent lost in FA.
instead, the goal is status quo. And if we get better in the process, then its all gravy. God forbid they actually get aggressive. Thats how the Jones family thinks these days.Tepid, luke warm in all things they do team-wise. I feel like all they are doing right now is protecting the family nest egg and investment/legacy. Winning is no longer a must have. The minute Jerry as deemed Hall worthy, it solidified that mindset. Now hes protecting number 1, HIMSELF and the family name. As long as the team makes money, and the fans keep getting Dog walked by them, hes all good. The team is a hobby they enjoy, and thats it. They market the team, and football is secondary. That's why no sense of urgency and a disconnect with the fans and reality by the Jones family. They reside in an alternate reality. I think the phrase willful delusion and arrogance applies here.

reaching on a linebacker doesnt mean it filled anything. taking a better player at a place of need would have helped. We could have done both. Love the LB, hated that we passed up a nice talented rb. Felt like we could have had the same LB in rd 5.

I don't because I didn't believe any of those RBs were worth a premium pick. They got that part right. But they could have addressed that in FA. Even if it was their only move. But they pretend that doesn't exist.
:hammer:This was horrible running back draft.

We traded a 4th for our next QB1.

That’s cheap.

What if they didn’t like Lloyd though?
I wasn’t a fan of the RB clas. Lloyd IMO was probably the last guy that I that I would have taken. When they didn’t take RB there I had a feeling that they were not going to draft one. Maybe they didn’t like him. The OL is going to be really good, but not sure what kind of running game this team is going to have.

Trading a 1st rounder for a QB1 is cheap too.....that doesn't mean you should do it. Now if he goes on to be a star no one will care. But as of right now in 2024 it was a stupid trade by a stupid front office.

That's the issue there.....and maybe its gross evaluation by the front office but I wonder how many guys in this draft did they determine are as good as what they already have? I think Jonathan Brooks was a guy they looked at who was simply better than what they had.

I don't know I hate to make excuses for them on this front. Thought they should've signed a RB that was a veteran but they chose not to clear up cap space and put themselves in this hole.

The way I see it, the Cowboys didn't draft a running back because they didn't want another draft where they reached for a need. Mazi Smith and Luke Schoonmaker last year were forced picks and were not the best players available on their board. (Please note Schoonmaker was picked before the Cowboys knew Jake Ferguson would be Jake Ferguson. He was coming off a 17 catch rookie season).

So I actually believe them when they say they went for other positions over RB. What I have a hard time getting over is turning down the rumored trade package from San Fran that would have given Dallas picks 96 and 124 for the 87th pick. Did they truly believe Marist Liufau would not be there nine picks later?

If this is true they could have gotten the pick they gave the Niners for Lance right back and used it on a RB.

I am actually fine with them not drafting a running back as it was a weak class for that position, but that does not excuse them from not attempting to sign a FA to a 2-3 year deal.

That depends on how good Liufau and Carson become. Especially Liufau.
especially if Marshawn Lloyd turn into a great rb and our lb doesnt. The fans wont let the Joneses forget.

They might have missed out Liufau. The Packers took a linebacker at 91. Of course we will never know. They had bad luck on missing out on running back. Tracy got close to 174. They did have good luck on the corner Carson being there at 174.

Dude looks like Mr Peepers or my accountant. Jeesh. The crap folks believe. This guy knows nothing. Hes just filling space.
I have no idea what he knows or doesn’t. But by and large, today’s writers and media folks are purely mouthpieces. They’re offering speculative opinions, often just parroting others, the same as in here.
